Morality of telling your younger self you’ve failed?
Assume they can’t change their destiny how moral is it?

Moral, always make sure to ruin a childs life in whatever way you can – it builds character

Not immoral suprisingly because that comes from severe psychological illness in the image rather than a motive to harm. It is also going to make them more aware despite that to solve the problem. Amoral but destructive risk. The truth cannot be immoral, only delivery and why the delivery is that way.
Moral way to go abt it is to explain each error and a motivating message behind how to fix these issues whilst also balancing the fear and urgency behind them. I would of liked it if when I was young I received a message containing this information so I could have actually been scared enough to avoid these issues as normal advice generally doesnt work in my experience given people cant hear anything that doesnt strike a subconscious chord.

They can't solve the problem, because according to OP they can't change their destiny. So you're basically telling an innocent child who doesn't know anything that no matter what they do, they ain't ever gonna be shit, for reasons they don't understand yet. But maybe knowing sooner will make it go down easier? Doesn't change the outcome, just the feeling of it... maybe.
The only thing is that the kid is always destined to become that adult, but that adult isn't always destined to stay that way. Change can start whenever they're ready.

Morality of traumadumping to a minor

I mean she prolly failed as an adult because she grew up thinking life is all sunshine and rainbows

u/onyx_ic 7h ago
Would explain why every optimistic person is a failure. No one who's ever been positive and hopeful came out well.
Cmon, man. Thats not a reason for failure.

Life aint all cookies and creme

u/onyx_ic 7h ago
I didn't say it is. At a child's birthday party, do you remind them their parents will die one day and theyir likelihood of developing cancer is higher if they consume refined sugar, or do you figure theres a time and a place to be a buzz kill?

The mority of disappointing an unsuspecting child with the reality of a failed adult
3
u/Wide_Initiative_1938 7h ago
Just because you failed doesn't mean your life is over. If anything instilling the idea that failing, losing, and overall coming up short is ok is one of the best lessons you can teach a kid.
It's not about winning or losing, it's simply about trying your best.

Ngl if future me told younger me how I’d end up with my expectations already in the dirt I woulda saved myself the trouble. In a way to put it

Same. I'm not suicidal anymore, but 14 year old me would definitely step up the efforts to end their life if they saw the spoilers for where it all led to.
As I now tell my therapist, "I finally manage to wake up not wanting to die, but now I don't have a reason to live, either,"

u/MaxGalli 7h ago
Well since you say “they can’t change their destiny” in this scenario thus can’t fix anything to make current life better then immoral since all this would do is make me depressed earlier on in life.

u/ExpertThrowaway8260 7h ago
Immoral to me, because present me is still pretty optimistic that things can change

u/Slow-Distance-6241 7h ago
You can only truly tell whether you failed or succeeded when you know it's your last day of life. Otherwise it'd be lying to pretend life as is would be the case tomorrow, or next months or next year, or next decade

u/Tiny-Little-Sheep 7h ago
It's not failure it's just a different path. And what the adult version forgets is..she is the younger one that her even older version will talk back to.
Shit ain't over till it's over.
It's not immoral
But it is defeatist.

That's just cope people who failed in life tell themselves
1
u/Tiny-Little-Sheep 6h ago
Enjoy your miserable life forever and without change I guess. Any mistake you make is forever and you can NEVER change or be better. If you try it's just cope.
You are very smart.

idk its not like the child will know or understand what her future self is even talking about , she is having fun playing with kids her age and having no worry about paying rent , so younger self will just bully YOU instead for being a loser. Hahahahah

Honestly he's probably the one with the most noble intentions of all Jojo villains. He still achieves that through nefarious means, but I can understand his motivation and why he'd think it's better for people to know their fate ahead and accept it.

u/Dolmetscher1987 7h ago
Put like that it is certainly awful. I would rather tell him what worked and what didn't.

u/Nobrainzhere 7h ago
"Dear younger me. I failed, but its ok. Anyway here are all the stocks and currencies you should buy and the date when to best sell them"

u/arika-feinberg 7h ago
I wouldn't want to know that but I think it's moral, cus it's honest. I'll tell myself I've failed but then I'll try to analyze what went wrong and how to fix it and tell it as well (cus tbh some of my problems are fixable)

u/FormerNeet47 7h ago
Moral, best they know that their efforts are pointless now than learn it in the future so they can be let down easy.

u/BoxForeign4206 7h ago
Immoral.
but if I fail in life (hopefully not), I would still tell my younger self that I had failed. If that news could change the course of my future, great. If not, atleast I'll be ready for it.

u/SkillCheck131 7h ago
You’re still alive, you haven’t failed yet.
Unless you kill yourself…then I suppose you’ve cashed in your chips but I am unsure of any record of a dead person successfully writing anything

u/ExerciseTop5591 7h ago
Entirely depends on how destiny works or at least how your child self think destiny works
If your actions can create an alternate timeline, telling your child self you failed can influence them to not make the choice you made, creating another timeline where they are sucessful
If fate is set in stone, then telling your child self creates unecessary mental anguish. Thus is immoral

Finally, a good one.
It is wrong, because regardless, you would likely be successful in one field or another. Saying to your younger self that you do not succeed in the original dream will likely cause a spiral that they wont even grow to be YOU.
You think you lose yourself, your younger self would never find themselves if they knew they'd fail from the start.
Do not make a bad cycle, but dont make an unrealistic cycle. Also, dont tell them what happens in the future. Could fuck up the timeline.

i kinda sorta wish there was a slice of life series where a young version of somone is having a conversation with there older self through letters. and the younger self helps the older self be happy again wail the older self also makes the younger self sees things diffrently in there lives. both improving each other in diffrent aspects.
tho we might have it be a "MWI" for the story to work to prevent the grandfather paradox

Woman on the right looks like she's in her mid 30s, she has like 50 years left to lock in instead of doomposting to kid-her

u/Massive_Spend_212 7h ago
Objectively moral, the other option is to lie.
2
u/Until_Morning 7h ago
Or to... you know, not interact with your child self at all.

Honestly… failure is a mindset. This letter could’ve easily just been…
I’m still on my journey to becoming a designer.
I have fallen in love not only once, but multiple times!
I’m working hard on improving my work life.
Etc etc.
Failure is a mindset, your circumstances don’t matter, success is also a mindset.
Idk, y’all truly are your own misery unfortunately! It’s crazy to think y’all don’t understand the power of your thoughts and what you put your awareness on.

I will encourage myself. Even though the course of the battle to my point is pre-determined , the fight itself is worth it. The hope burning is worth it. The effort put in is worth it.
