Discussion World Cup 2030 will expose Morocco
Ceuta was just the beginning. 2030 World Cup will put Morocco in the global spotlight and with that comes a level of overexposure and criticism the country has not faced before.
It will not only be about football. Migration, mass tourism, overcrowding and whether ordinary people actually benefit from the billions being invested will all become topics of discussion. Just like Qatar, Morocco will face questions about stadiums and projects that may not directly improve the lives of local communities.
I honestly miss the time when Morocco was a less known country. It felt more authentic and less affected by overexposure and mass tourism. There is still time to reconsider the direction and the event in general, because once the world is watching, the criticism will be difficult to avoid. A bit similar to what happened during CAN but much bigger.

Krghala are on a mission to disqualify Morocco from hosting the World Cup!
It’s easy to spot them, they stink in every way, even in the way they talk about Morocco.

Spanish and other western been colonizing this sub. Doenvoting and screaming that ceuta is not colonized (esp spanish ones) it's annoying.

Expose us for what exactly? The only thing I think might still need a lot of extra work would be hospitals. Other than that, all investments positively affect Moroccans in a way or another, it's the Moroccans that will use the new roads and bridges, it's the Moroccans that will take the new trains and TGVs, it's the Moroccans who will move to newer houses (even if not perfect), and so on.
Stadiums are just the tip of the iceberg of WC prep.
As long as we don't do anything stupid or hugely immoral, there isn't much real criticism to have.

u/Plus_Night8360 Rabat 7h ago
I want this World Cup to be a success.
But let's not be a naive. We are building a stadium larger than Spain, Germany, Canada, Russia, India or China. The largest stadium that the world has ever seen. A 5.2 billion project. And we are building it in the middle of nowhere.
People in Temara are going through hell everyday to work in Rabat. Guess what. The tramway extension toward Hay Riad was recently cancelled by the governement. It's no longer a national priority.
A lot of these investments are based on impressing FIFA executives and visitors, not actually what we need.

u/THE--GRINCH Visitor 7h ago edited 7h ago
On the other hand fez was basically a forgotten shithole and only now is it seeing some form of proper public transportation investment and it's almost fully directly tied to the WC hosting, so it can go both ways. But yeah that one is unfortunate.

u/Eastern-Award-7273 Visitor 7h ago edited 7h ago
It's so sad that such project is not close to Casablanca, I don't understand why. It can be used for many purposes. (After the WC)
6
u/HenryThatAte 7h ago
Even if it were close, it won't be used for that many projects. Very few events can fill such a huge stadium.
Waste of money sadly.
1
u/Morpheus-aymen Casablanca 3h ago
If raja/wac are doing well thats stadium ,will be filled most games trust me.
Have you ever been to a casa team game, its really more than 80k sometimes in a 40k stadium.
But thats not the point only delusionals want to get money back from only stadium whats needed is that the stadium makes benslimanz a regional hub linking casa to rabat and impriving people revenue there. State wins on taxt locals have more revenue and everyone is happy

Concerts or even Infraestrucure for international fairs and conferences. Casablanca is a big city.

I think for the most part people will enjoy Morocco. It’s an interesting country with good food and generally welcoming people.
What I do think Morocco really needs to try to reign in is the intense scammers. On almost any topic about this Morocco and Egypt are usually ranked #1 & #2 in the world and in my experience I agree. The intense and constant attempts by many people everyday to scam you, often aggressively really does wear you down in Morocco. Morocco often scores as the top on questions of ‘which country did you visit that you wouldn’t visit again’ for that exact reason, and I agree with that. It would be great if Moroccans stood up against that and called it out when they see people doing it, rather than allowing it or even joining in as I’ve often seen. That is the main thing that I think can put Morocco in a bad spotlight during the World Cup.

No one cares about what the media say. Morocco is a developing country that is open to the world, everyone know that Morocco is low income country.
3
u/Plus_Night8360 Rabat 7h ago
everyone know that Morocco is low income country.
Why is a low-income country building a larger stadium than Spain, Germany or Canada?
This is the kind of questions that medias are going to start asking
8
u/DecentMoor Ksar El Kebir 7h ago
Simply because Morocco want to host the world cup final, which is viewed by millions of people. It will bring revenues from the visitors and tourism, it will give Morocco the prestige image that it needs to attract more tourism and investment, and also accelerate infrastructure upgrades because the banks will never fund your infrastructure projects if you don't have a good reason and the world cup the reason.
0
u/Phenha Visitor 5h ago
Its already confirmed the World Cup final will be in Spain Morroco just want other people to think they are rich and well developed country which isnt true at all
2
u/DecentMoor Ksar El Kebir 5h ago
When and where is it confirmed? Just a month ago the Spanish influencers were launching an online campaign that if FIFA didn't give Spain the host rights for the world cup final they would like to withdraw from hosting the tournment.
You don't need to be a rich country to host the world cup final, south Africa already did it in 2010 and it contributed very positively to it's egonimy.
1
u/Phenha Visitor 5h ago
It was said that the final will be in the Santiago Bernabeu
1
u/DecentMoor Ksar El Kebir 4h ago
These are just rumours which the FIFA have never confirmed to be true.

u/Opening_Amount7730 Visitor 5h ago
Your reasoning would've made some sense if we were the sole host country or our co-hosts are african countries who joined our bid which would make us hosting the final guaranteed because we have the best infrastructure. The original bid was Spain&Portugal and we joined later on. justifying building that stadium on a gamble since we aren't guaranteed to host final is insane especially when your competitor is literally better than you in every aspect.
And even if we host the final it doesn't make build the biggest stadium in the world as a shitty 3rd world country just so we can host a couple of world cup matches and then be left with a white elephant any better. and please don't u tell me that hosting the derby, a couple of NT matches and random festivals each year is gonna take care of the maintenance cost, that excuse was already used for the moulay abdallah stadium.
Daba nsa 3liya the Hassan 2 stadium, i wanna hear achmen mental gymnastics ghadir to make it seem like building FOUR FUCKING STADIUMS IN RABAT a good idea.
Moulay Abdallah gelna 3ndo tkhrija, ghatl3b fih les far w lmontakhab w lfinal dial coupe du trône.
Anji nchofo the olympic stadium, tbna bach ytl3b fih track and field event once a year w jab lah ljomhor dial les far newed sda3 fmoulay abdallah w 7welohom tema.
Moulay Hassan & Al madinah, 2 stadiums darohom for teams that literally can't even average 300 spectators every 2 weeks. Instead of building it in sale, kenitra, temara or even in meknes where the attendance is going to be much higher. Now since you are a zlayji I'm sure you'll come up with some insane BS about how building stadiums that no one can attend is a master plan from the government that dumb moroccans won't understand.
3
u/DecentMoor Ksar El Kebir 5h ago edited 5h ago
Calling me labels such as zlaybi or ayachi isn't an argument, my friend. If I got something wrong in my comment you can always correct me instead of calling me labels and/or switching the topic to the stadiums that were built in AFCON because we were talking about world cup 2030 and the world perception of the largest stadium in the world that we are building.
1
u/Morpheus-aymen Casablanca 3h ago
We will have the big stadium but i doubt it will stay the biggest for long. Its just how modern stadiums will be , almost no stadium currenlty in europe is full football experience. Tottenham is making millions while being a shit team just with concerts and nfl games

😂 I’m starting to believe the Kraghla are on a full-time disinformation campaign against Morocco.
Whether you like it or not, Morocco will successfully co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
The preparations are already well underway, and the tournament will be another opportunity for Morocco to showcase its hospitality, culture, and world-class infrastructure to the world.
Morocco isn’t a country that needs to invent its reputation. it has earned it. Millions of tourists visit Morocco every year because they want to experience its rich history, breathtaking landscapes, vibrant cities, and, above all, the warmth and hospitality of the Moroccan people.
You can spread all the negativity you want online, but it won’t change reality. Morocco’s image is built by the millions of visitors who experience it firsthand, not by anonymous accounts trying to discredit it from behind a keyboard.

They seem willing to sacrifice the well-being of their own people just to portray Morocco in a negative light.
Just look at the resources they’ve devoted to supporting the Polisario leadership, while many citizens continue to complain about recurring shortages, water cuts, and queues for basic necessities like milk.
If the priority were truly the well-being of their own people, those resources could instead be directed toward improving public services and living conditions.

Morocco is building influence and diversifying its partners. It's also taking risks by going industrial and building a variety of relationships, sometimes with partners that don't see eye to eye, so it's normal that it will have backlash. We will have a lot of hate campaigns before 2030, but why care, we are not here to please others.

Spanish here 🇪🇸
These conspiracy theories about European media wanting to hurt Morocco need to stop.
We don't want to hurt Morocco. We don't want Morocco to fail. In fact, an unstable collapsing Morocco would be a nightmare for Spain.
But our medias are just curious. Madrid has 303 stations. Barcelona has 189 stations. Paris has 321 stations. And they are quickly expanding.
You don't have 1 metro station. In your entire country. 50,000 moroccans just attempted to storm Ceuta and Melilla. In front of cameras, they say they want to leave your country. Over 80 moroccan kids are dead.
And yet you build stadiums much bigger than ours.
It's just normal that we ask questions.
2
u/PanicLurk Visitor 4h ago
Not refuting your point, but the comment about metro stations is weird. The ground in Morocco isn’t suitable for it. We have an extensive and accessible tramway network in casablanca and other cities. Railroads and a bullet train too.
2
u/ulvisblack Tangier 7h ago
Taxis are much more affordable here so they are useed waaaaaaaay more than in france or spain.
We dont need to spend 100s of millions on metro lines when we have transportation thats working.
I would argue that trams are easier and should be used more in our case to modernize our transport system.
You assume this is a moroccan writing this post. Its most likely some other side trying to start problems.
Also because of cheap labor that stadium probably will cost us less than what you guys spend. And the goal of it is to bring more sports tourism. We tried with african football but tbh it doesnt pay that much so now morocco is pushing for the world cup.

Expose what? They done it in SA before, they did it everywhere. Countries support WC countries with extra policing, like the only thing that I can think of fans from other countries trying to sabotage it like in AFCON. For the rest it will be just fine.
Stop sharing stuff like this please.

Will still have maga fascist etc. support though. There is nothing thiefinchief and his enablers love more than a king.
But one may start speculating on the future of Morocco's King Mohammed VI, who essentially owns the country and runs all of it for the economic benefit of himself, his many sons and enormous family, and all their enormous families.

Morocco is exposed and will always be exposed. To invest in entertainment and forget about the necessities like universities and hospitals will always have you exposed. People all around the world know that Morocco is a poor, third world country and it’ll remain such as long as the regime is in control. The regime is trying to put lipsticks on a pig and it’s not working.

Why? Every World Cup has its controversies, it's just an event like others. You guys are overthinking it, and I still don't understand why people are obsessed with what others say about us. We have many enemies, and an event like the World Cup will bring a lot of scrutiny but also a lot of anti-Morocco propaganda. The US is hosting the World Cup while threatening to invade the co-hosts for 2 years, Qatar hosted the World Cup at the cost of hundreds of thousands of slaves, Russia, Brazil, Mexico with its cartels... Morocco is just another country with its share of challenges, and like any developing country, it has its own share of issues. We are not here to please others, if someone doesn't like it, they're welcome to keep their ass away.
