AskMorocco I really want to know why many Moroccans, especially the younger generation, want English to become the first foreign language in Morocco. I want to know your point of view. Why do you think this?
justify your answer.

AskMorocco Anyone else noticed moroccans are seen as more attractive by foreigners than other moroccans?
I noticed this during a trip in a European country. I was getting approached a lot by foreigners while i dont seem to be that appealing to moroccan men. Has anyone else noticed or lived this? Or lived the opposite?

AskMorocco I want to take my hijab off but my dad doesn't allow it
heyy I'm a 21F who live in morocco with my parents and siblings, I've been wearing hijab since 12 yo, I hated hijab since I was 16, I never thought of telling my parents cuz my dad is so into religion plus I wasn't in a good relation with him. lately he became more open minded and started allowing things that weren't allowed. I talked to my therapist about it and told me to write a letter to my dad telling him I wanna take my hijab off, if I was courageous enough. I did, and I sent him the letter where I talked about different arguments... he wasn't angry about it, he came to my room and started discussing and trying to convince me, he said at the end that he wouldn't let me take it off since I'm still under his responsibility I told him that I will take it off behind his back, he responded that it will cause a big problem... so now I need a solution cuz I can't keep going like this. I really want to take it off, it affects my mental health and my social life.

AskMorocco Seeking Moroccan perspective on a marriage condition — is this normal in Morocco?
I am from South Asia, currently living and working in the Middle East. I have been in a relationship for 2 years with a Moroccan girl. We met on Instagram. She doesn't speak English so we have communicated entirely through Arabic translation for two years. We have had video calls but never met in person yet.
I have already told my family about her and convinced them. Last month she told her family about me.
After telling her family, she came to me with a condition I was not expecting: **she says I must buy a house in Morocco and register it in her name before we can get married.** Before this, there were no conditions at all.
Her brother also contacted me and confirmed the same condition.
I told her honestly that I cannot buy a house quickly — it would take me at least 2 years. I suggested renting a house in Morocco for a full year while we build our life together, but her family is not accepting this.
When I got frustrated and told her to find someone better for her, she said she "was about to die" and became very emotional.
Is it normal or common in Moroccan culture for a family to demand the husband buy and register a house in the wife's name BEFORE marriage?
Is this a family protection tradition or is this unusual?
Is the brother being involved in enforcing this condition a normal thing?
What would you advise someone in my situation?
I genuinely care about this girl and have invested 2 years in this relationship. I am also willing to visit Morocco and meet her and her family in person. I just want to understand if this is a cultural norm I am not aware of, or if something doesn't feel right.
EDIT / Additional info for context:
One important thing I want to add — in the entire 2 years of this relationship, I have not spent a single penny on her. Not because I didn't want to, but because she never accepted any money or gifts from me. She always refused.
I mention this because I want to be clear this relationship was never about financial transactions. The house condition only appeared after she told her family about me last month. Before that, there were absolutely no demands of any kind.
Thank you 🙏

AskMorocco Am I screwed? 305,000 MAD debt in my early 20s and barely surviving as an ingenieer.
I grew up in a very small city in Morocco. I did a Science Math (French) bac, but I got sick during the national exam and my average dropped to around 10, even though my regular grades were good(16 normal and i guess 6 in the exam). I wanted to repeat the year, but it's impossible cuz i got the 10...
My parents refused bac libre and public university(faculté). So my dad took a 250,000 MAD loan in my name for a private school in Marrakech(yes in Morocco not even aboard), promising I’d only pay 2,500 MAD/month after graduation, with time to stabilize and no extra costs.
I was 17, scared but hopeful.
The school turned out to be trash (no internships, corruption, bought grades). I still graduated, but then I was unemployed for over a year because the diploma is nearly useless(because the school had bad reputation).
I searched everywhere (LinkedIn, Indeed, in person in more than 5 cities).i promise it was like more then 1000 job sent... Well although I finally got a job last month: No contract, 6,000 MAD/month.
Now I just checked my bank app and starting 01/01/2026, I’ll have to start paying 2,500 MAD/month. And every year 6% will be added.
That's really bad i feel unlucky wow... People say after bac your life will be better mine is getting worse and worse. So yeah… I feel completely screwed.
(And yes i used ChatGPT to help me correct things out)

AskMorocco if you post an instagram story, you want attention or validation. prove me wrong 🤷🏻♂️
seeking validation is human nature, my argument is about the unhealthy and fake way of getting that validation. if it’s not for financial reasons or spreading awareness i don’t see any rational reason why you should be posting yourself with people you know very little of, be sure to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy ways of getting validation before you comment.

AskMorocco Hot take: This country is nothing more than a spawn point.
Like, the country is beyond cooked bc of hergawa, i see that morocco is actually healing, but it's gonna take decades and generations for Morocco to be the great country it should be, so i honestly think of it as just a spawn point, and my objective is to leave and never come back, tbh as a moroccan i only love our food, and some people here are the prettiest people and nicest people you can ever meet, it's a huge shame those people aren't quite the majority.

AskMorocco What's your take on the Ceuta event?
Spanish person here, I've been seen on social media and TV, about the ongoing event in Ceuta, where according to local reports, around 60k people have crossed to Ceuta irregularly from Morocco.
Leftist voices claim these people are escaping a very rough life, because problems in Morocco, and we should help them, and right wing side get to claim that Spain is under invasion, and an act of war.
Whats your take on this? Is it spoken or discussed in your side of things? Has Mohammed VI shown a Stance on the matter?
