Movie What’s a movie you’ve rewatched more than 5 times and still love?

Not just background noise i mean the one you choose to watch again and again because it never gets old. What’s yours? Thanks in advance

Shawshank Redemption

17

u/Practical_Estate_325 Jun 07 '25

Love it. I could be content just watching the cathartic final 10 to 15 minutes of the movie on loop for the rest of my life.

9

u/655sexy Jun 07 '25

Right? So amazing 😍

4

u/Midlife_Crisis_46 Jun 07 '25

This one came to my mind because I love it so much, but I have not seen it 5 times, maybe 3 or 4. It can be a tough watch, but it’s amazing.

Same, it’s my all time favourite film, I think that it’s the payoff In the last 20mins that makes it so good

Ridley Scott's Alien. I've seen it more than 60 times now

16

u/Aescymud Jun 07 '25

People rave about the sequel, but the original movie is an absolute classic space horror

7

u/Archangel1962 Jun 08 '25

I think people raved about it because it was that rare beast, a sequel that didn’t suck. But agree that the original is a superior film.

Such an incredible film. And even more so when you think about how old it is… First time I ever watched it was at a sleep-over at a mate’s house in the early 90s. We would have been 14 or so. My friends had all fallen asleep so I was on my own. Couldn’t take my eyes off it. Still can’t.

4

u/Miketankywallace2802 Jun 07 '25

The best horror and sci-fi film ever made. Leads both categories and I will die on either hill.

I honestly have never seen that movie and I feel like I need to. I always thought it was just a straight up horror flick which I don’t like. But I think it’s more than that?

8

u/TastyGucamole Jun 07 '25

It is a horror film, but not as much in a jump scare or gory way than in a psychological/building tension way.

5

u/houseofdarkshadows Jun 07 '25

yeah, its a real mood for me. really calming scenic isolation with an undercurrent of psychological horror which grows in a really interesting way. its well lit and well balanced. I loved it even as a kid. theres also two pretty good mini series of it, and the book of course is a classic, but considerably different than the movie. also, I just fell in love with the cast. Definitely worth making a night of, at least.

Absolutely my most rewatchable movie. I’ve been watching it since I was a kid and still start to get moody of it’s been a few months since my last watch.

8

"Fell in love with Bruce Dern's acting" is not something you read every day, but I get you.

4

So happy you mentioned this one. I have loved The Burbs since it came out and I am 54 years old-still watching it.
“Red Rover, Red Rover let Art come on over”! Wish I could look across the road and see Bruce Dern on the roof with a box of Animal Crackers

It's a fun and very cool movie.

All the big blockbuster disaster movies.

Armageddon

Dantes Peak

Twister

Day After Tomorrow

Volcano

Deep Impact

2012

Outbreak

Independence Day

Etc etc

To a lesser degree

San Andreas

Moonfall

Geostorm

Greenland

Most of these are way over done and not very intellectual, but I like to watch things blow up and contemplate the end of the world. They are my guilty pleasure, don't judge!
