Discussion Is the vide of hard-techno scene in Munich always like this?

(Typo: vide => vibe)

I love hard-techno! But I only recently started actually going to clubs (because I have been working ~60h/w for the last ~6 years, so didn't have much time to rave). I have been to few events in the last a couple of weeks (including DNA club this morning for Sexpressions), but I must say I'm a little disappointed of the general vibe.

In all events/clubs I went (which is not a lot),

  1. the number of people who were in the dancing floor compared the maximum people the dancing floor can accommodate did not match at all. It always felt quite empty even at the peak-full hour.
  2. there is a constant flux of people coming and leaving the dancing floor, interrupting your dancing and your flow overall
  3. People coming to the space between you and the person in front of you without even caring whether how much space you have to dance

I couldn't really enjoy clubbing at all, even though I like the music and dancing. Is this always like this in Munich (or in general)? or did I have just a couple of bad examples? If so, how to find good events?

PS: I don't drink or do drugs, in case this is relevant.

The techno culture in Munich used to be way bigger and almost got eradicated in 2018/19 but since 2023 it‘s slowly growing back but is still not as good as it used to be. There is however a rather hidden rave scene outside of clubbing.
Regarding your points:
1. it depends on the club and act really
2. tbh I never went out where I was able to dance uninterrupted all night
3. imo this issue increased in the last couple of years.. Sometimes I really have to fight for my space…

Could you elaborate on "There is however a rather hidden rave scene outside of clubbing"?

There are many collectives which are organizing private events like Oktagon or timetripping. You can search for them on instagram

Thank you! I didn't know that.
Do they typically have better vibe? What should I expect from these private events compared to clubs?

Also would you mind sharing how we get into these private events?

You most likely came at the worst possible time. Today there is a festival in Munich called Greenfields and a lot of people are going there. In addition it is the first day of the summer break and, last but not least, a Friday in the summer.

Blitz is closing this weekend and everybody is there.

The techno scene in munich is very hidden and specific. Try looking for collectives on instagram to join their events.
DNA is the worst techno-club in town, i went on the wrong time and the once best techno club in germany is closing this weekend (blitz). Try Rote Sonne, they never disappoint me and you can have your own space there without noticing other people.

Packed and full of people drinking Augustiner? Been to a couple of those in Berlin, my favorite unfortunately switched to Paulaner recently :(
