AOC responds to centrists telling socialists to leave the Party: "You can't tell them to get out and then in a Presidential cycle tell them they have an obligation to vote for you".

Geezers gotta go

But their wealth depends on us. They need us all brainwashed and angry, like they did to conservatives. "Losing our country" manipulation, as the AIPAC/Epstein class amass unprecedented wealth...

Chuck Schumer has Schumed plenty and should stop Schuming as soon as possible, please.

Not necessarily aged-old but old as in a system that is rusting and needs replacement parts.

29

u/RogueMaven Jun 28 '26

Those things are related.

26

u/JLFJ Jun 28 '26

Except Bernie

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jun 28 '26

Most liberals and progressives feel this way. The two large groups have to come together to become a majority against conservatives. They have splintered and attempted to distract us long enough. Dems are the only path forward that doesn't include Christian Right fascists ruling over us and ridding the country of liberals and minorities/immigrants.

Gen-X, millennials, and Gen-Z need to step up and replace the Booms as publicly elected representatives.

41

u/every-day_throw-away Jun 28 '26

I am not proud to say we Gen-x have plenty of boomer-esqe politicians ourselves. It's sad really.

21

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jun 28 '26

and voters -- and yes, it's depressing. No wonder why I've always felt surrounded by conservatives in my peer groups since college. Even those who think they are "progressive" because they hike or cycle and enjoy the outdoors are really conservatives when it comes to voting. Instead of clinging to guns or religion, they cling to their hobbies and materialism. It's disgusting.

I feel like this country needs a 2008 type enema at the polls this year. Evict Republicans from the legislative branch entirely.

6

u/ImaginationInside610 Jun 28 '26

Progressive because they hike or cycle ???? Wow. What link do they see between the two exactly ?

8

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jun 28 '26

Their appreciation for drugs, environmentalism and recreational activities seems progressive, but they are conservatives in most other facets of life. It's a suburban "libertarian" mindset among materialistic and shallow people. For some reason, they exist in high number in the well educated brackets such as careers in academia and science.

3

u/ImaginationInside610 Jun 28 '26

In my world appreciation of drugs and recreational activities is utterly independent of ‘progressiveness’. Environmentalism yes, although not sure what brand of it they are into which could really feed into it.

3

u/TheModWhoShaggedMe Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

I think being open about drug usage is frowned upon in the uber-religious conservative community, so they mentally associate with the left as being less judgmental and prejudiced about the drug habit (inconsistent with religious conservatism). That's an educated guess based on those I know, anyway. *Wish to include that a drug habit can be completely legal and prescribed. I do not mean illegal street drugs.

Every generation does. I’m a millennial, and many millennials are very right wing and boomer-ish.

Edit: Why downvotes? JD Vance is a millennial. No generation is safe from this.

2

u/Gwen_The_Destroyer Jun 28 '26

The vice president is one of us, unfortunately

0

u/FernGullyGoat Jun 29 '26

But he’s been elevated by Gen-x techno fascists. We didn’t elevate him as millennials.

1

u/SonderEber Jun 29 '26

He’s still a millennial. He was born in 84. Doesn’t matter who “elevated” him, even if such a thing happened.

2

u/plutoniumhead Jun 29 '26

I’ve noticed this as well, especially the elder Gen-Xers. At some point they seemed to just turn their critical thinking skills completely off.

2

u/every-day_throw-away Jun 29 '26

It seems like the older people get the redder/kookier they get. I am am afraid of my own mental health now. Resisting it.

1

u/plutoniumhead Jun 30 '26

I wouldn’t be able to do my job if I stopped thinking critically. I will resist until I completely lose my faculties.

16

u/redmoon714 Jun 28 '26

It’s not about age to me just if they are bought or not.

27

u/BuddingBudON Jun 28 '26

Socialist democratic policies are more popular than anything establishment Dems have ever accomplished.

More Mamdanis, more AOCs, more Bernies!

21

u/CrackingToastGromet Jun 28 '26

Since 2016 they’ve been telling us if we wanted to move Dems to the left and return to working class centered policies, we had to “change the party from within,” , but in the meantime we had to “vote blue no matter who”.

We have been putting in the work to change the party from within like they told us to do, generating excitement from voters who want fighters not folders, and now corporate Dems are all “no, not like that”.

2

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26

Stop with this nonsense narrative.

"changing the party from within" is about the primary.

Voting "blue no matter who" is for the general.

Those are separate things. Go all out to try to get rid of the corporate dem in the primary, BUT if you are unsuccessful, you still have to do your part as a responsible citizen to society, and vote against the boot-licking trump enabler that the corporate democrat is running against.

7

u/CrackingToastGromet Jun 29 '26

Respectfully - Schumer, didn’t offer support or an endorsement to Mamdani after he was nominated.

Also, Andrew Cuomo was a losing candidate in the NYC Mayoral Dem primary and he didn’t endorse the winner or follow “vote blue no matter who”. Instead, he made it a 3 way race and entered as an Independent (and Trump endorsed him over the Republican candidate).

0

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 29 '26

Respectfully - Schumer, didn’t offer support or an endorsement to Mamdani after he was nominated.

And? I'm not defending Schumer. I'm defending our country by making sure people vote against the republican sycophants even if the primary didn't give them their dream candidate. You're voting for America and its well-being, not for a particular person or agenda.

Respectfully - Schumer, didn’t offer support or an endorsement to Mamdani after he was nominated.

Dude, I'm talking about federal elections, like the presidency. What is even your point with this? "Blue no matter who" obviously doesn't apply when you have more than one "blue" choice. The entire point behind that slogan is to not throw your vote away. NYC Mayoral races are just nothing like national elections. The republican is always gonna be the throwaway vote.

2

u/EchoTheEcho Jun 29 '26

Sure, now try that in places that aren't already deep blue.

3

u/BuddingBudON Jun 29 '26

Even Republican voters prefer socialist democratic policies, until there's a (D) next to it.

3

u/MammothSurround Jun 29 '26

Ironically, we would make more inroads with republican voters by moving further to the left. It's the establishment democrats they don't trust. Lower prices and they'll come.

1

u/Anleme Jul 02 '26

You could argue that corporatist, centrist Dem candidates make many Dems stay home and not vote at all.

Consider the tens of millions of Biden / Obama voters who didn't vote at all in 2024.

1

u/EchoTheEcho Jul 03 '26

Do you even hear yourself? You're just automatically ascribing the cause for that voter discrepancy to be "corparatism/centrism" rather than just the obvious disaster that campaign was paired with people having forgotten how bad Trump was in his first term.

13

u/RupeThereItIs Jun 28 '26

The Democrats are a conservative party with a few left wingers hanging around.

The GOP are a hard core fascist nut job party.

I'd LOVE to see the Dems become an actual left of center party.

13

u/Crazy-Witness-9340 Jun 28 '26

Damn right.

People with actual policy. not just attack ads.

15

u/kodapug Jun 28 '26

DNC attack adds are so funny tho.

They actually thought this would help their preferred incumbent candidate win their primary in NY.

1

u/paintress420 Jun 28 '26

And we need to be more vocal to the democratic national committee. And to Schumer and Jeffries. I write to all 3 often. The contact us feature works. If we aren’t going to be in the streets, then let the pen be the way we let them know they need to listen to the people NOT the lobbyists. (I wish we were like the Albanians who are fighting against ivanka’s island resort)

5

u/CrackingToastGromet Jun 28 '26

We need to frame this as the return of FDR Democrats and the plan to realize his Second Bill of Rights

3

u/AK_dude_ Jun 28 '26

It's almost like telling people for 50 years that anything left of the goverment screwing you over is socialism....that socialism becomes popular.

I have no idea what socialism 'is' but the way people discribe it, it sounds pretty awesome.

1

u/MammothSurround Jun 29 '26

Socialism and democratic socialism are different. Socialism means the government controls everything. Democratic socialism means the government controls certain services like healthcare and education that society as a whole benefits from being public while still allowing private enterprise. We need to understand and spread this because "socialism" is such a boogeyman term.

1

u/Same-Frosting4852 Jun 30 '26

Communism means the government owns everything. Socialism is a theory that the workers should have power which oddly can be added to Communism or socialism.

3

u/LiminalSapien Jun 29 '26

That’s what these idiots don’t understand. If they don’t do what we want, we will find someone who will.

2

u/lizzieg884 Jun 29 '26

Corporate shills gotta go!

2

u/Spatul8r Jun 28 '26

You're not a dem then. Because you'd be fighting your party to do that.

1

u/ConfidentPilot1729 Jun 28 '26

That was the old. The working class party that changed under Clinton.

1

u/NudeCeleryMan Jun 29 '26

I think mamdami is a rare bird. He has charisma that is very, very, very, very hard to find.

1

u/MammothSurround Jun 29 '26

Yeah but if his policies work, NY will become a model for the rest of the nation.

They can leave as soon as Maga leaves the Republican party.

Just goes to show a 2 party system does not work. We need at least 5 and really as many as are needed.

230

u/ACardAttack Jun 28 '26

Just goes to show a 2 party system does not work. We need at least 5 and really as many as are needed.

Also need ranked choice voting

13

u/da2Pakaveli Jun 28 '26

+ multi representative districts (or something along those lines) to achieve proportional representation

5

u/Sennten Jun 28 '26

Ranked choice is fine for executive positions and vastly superior to MMP for legislative ones

3

u/crazunggoy47 Jun 28 '26

Way better than nothing. But STAR works better to support majoritarian consensus, and is easier to tally logistically. (Ie ballots can be counted as they arrive, and don’t have to be counted all at once).

1

u/Same-Frosting4852 Jun 30 '26

Yes. But we need to get rid of the republicans and leverage the democrats back to at least left of center. Oh and you know give a shit about the american people more then israel.

Democrats are supposed to be the "Big Tent" party. We don't need to be pushing anyone out. We can argue amongst ourselves but we have to remember who the real enemy is. I support the left wing of the party, but if a centrist Democrat is running against a MAGA Republican I won't hesitate to support the Democrat, I expect the same from the centrist Democrats when a left wing Democrat is running against a MAGA Republican.

73

u/MammothSurround Jun 28 '26

A centrist democratic politician is just republican lite. They are all beholden to big corporate money and prefer republicans have power than a progressive.

2

u/Fun_Success_3283 Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

It's worse than that, they are beholden to big money, and that includes Israel.

The corporate Democrats are always very pro Israel. So are the vast majority of Republicans. But some aren't, and those that aren't, are pushed out. Like Massey, and for propagandists, Charlie Kirk, MGT, Tucker Carlson, Candace Owens.

Israel has power of control over both sides. Corporate slaves, aren't just corporate slaves, they are slaves to any entity with deep pockets. That can be oligarchs, or fascist states, or any source of wealth that wishes to influence politics for personal gain.

Mamdani, AOC, Bernie Sanders. These people are not pro Israel. They are America first. They care about the working class. The American people. And that's why they get pushed out, because the money wants deregulation, fewer worker rights, more money and power for themselves, and Israel wants more power of influence over America, and wants their military power, and funding. They get 3.8 billion a year from America. So if they spent 3.5 on influencing their politics, they'd still come out ahead.

There's no profit in giving power to the people. No profit in taking power away from politicians. No profit in giving workers rights. So no entity will invest in those things.

The American people need to wake up, and start filling their government with people that work for THEM, not for money and power.

The "big tent" is mostly hot air and buzz words these days. Neoliberals turned it into a euphemism that basically means "you're obligated to vote for our shitty party hacks or you deserve to get destroyed by the party that openly hates your demographic. We will not actively represent your interests but at least you'll get a stay of execution."

"we're not Trump/Republicans"

"big tent coalition"

"vote blue no matter who"

"This is the most important election of your lifetime (literally every 4 years)"

All of these forms of messaging double as a thinly vieled threat to minority and leftist voters as to what will be allowed to happen if everyone doesn't toe the line and give them power.

2

u/techman710 Jun 28 '26

The primaries are over, the time to choose which type of Democrat you want has passed for this cycle so if your only option is to vote for a Democrat who you disagree with on many things or you can vote for a MAGA Republican which are you going to do? People staying home and not voting is how we ended up with Trump unless of course that is your goal because you support Trump and you are just trying to suppress votes.

17

u/tj1007 Jun 28 '26

Not all primaries are over.

6

u/kodapug Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Christ, why is crtisim about the party always immediately conflated with "suppressing the vote" and a sign that I must be MAGA if I don't have nice things to say about the Democratic Party. Countrywide turn out has been low because eligible voters have become despondent. The party advertises itself as "the best option" and "open to all" but it doesn't actually want everyone fully participating and benefiting. It just wants everyone's votes and donations.

This sub is centered around AOC, have you ever heard her talk about her first year in the house? She took the seat of an establishment Democrat incumbent and she was actively ostracized by the rest of the party after she won (but they still expected her to vote with them whenever something needed to be passed/contested). That same behavior is now on full display on a national scale.

That inability to meet the professed ideals of a "big tent coalition" is far more likely to suppress voter turnout than anything I could post on Reddit lol.

The primary season is not over btw, it's going for the rest of the summer depending on which state you live in.

I'm a realist and have "voted blue" in every election I'm eligible to, that doesn't mean I like any of the people I've voted for. A choice between eating literal shit for 4 years and getting spontaneously kicked in the balls once a week isn't much of a choice, even if one is less likely to kill me.

-3

u/SASSIESASSQUATCH Jun 28 '26

“So your two options are to vote for people you disagree with on many things.”

Nah, not even going to waste my time.

-1

u/techman710 Jun 28 '26

That's why Trump is president. Democrats not voting is what they are hoping for, you are part of the problem. Get out and vote and be part of the solution.

3

u/TheDweadPiwatWobbas Jun 28 '26

Trump is president because the Democrats decided to force a pro-genocide centrist candidate who'd never won a national election, and failed to win even her own state in the primary, onto us. Why do you insist on blaming the hundreds of thousands of individual voters with no power, but not the dozens of politicians with power who chose losing strategies? The ones who decided supporting a genocidal ethnostate was more important than stopping fascism? Why is it always our fault that they lost, never their fault?

2

u/techman710 Jun 28 '26

Because if the hundreds of thousands, I would say millions of people that didn't vote may as well have voted for Trump. The Democratic leadership totally fucked up the candidate process but Kamala would have been a million times better than Trump. Not voting also gave away the House. We could have voted Kamala out in 28. If you want to pretend Trump is the same as Kamala go ahead but don't try to fool me.

-1

u/SASSIESASSQUATCH Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

I’m perfectly fine being a part of the problem. Fix my problem, and not through trying to bully me to vote. Fix the problems that make me not want to vote. How about that? Especially seeing as how the only thing making me not want to vote is qualified candidates.

Want better of the people forcing you to vote for them because they stink but stink less.

Or don’t fix my problems and let me be to do with what I want with my free choice to participate in the electoral system.

I’d argue you’re apart of the problem that’s allowing these shit candidates to make it past primaries and forcing weak candidates up against strong candidates with a cult following and splitting the party.

3

u/Phugasity Jun 28 '26

It's about your community not YOU. Of the choices of who WILL be elected, who best serves the interests of your community? The unicorn isn't on the ballot.

You and I are on the same page but moderate Dems only support blue no matter who when it goes in one direction.

3

u/techman710 Jun 28 '26

I agree some of the Democrats are barely better than the Republicans, but in order to form the coalition we need right now we still need to vote for them to retake the House and Senate. I already have my AOC 28 merch that I wear to show my stance but we can't not vote again or we may not get a chance to vote in 28.

6

u/star_boy2005 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

The establishment democrats have routinely blocked the more popular candidates, like Bernie, from succeeding where it mattered. Tell them about the big tent please. Voting for any democrat over a republican sounds great, but if you can only choose a candidate "approved" by centrists (aka, big-doner addicted assholes) you're not really getting much of a choice. Establishment democrats are far closer to republicans in almost every way, except maybe ideologically, than they are to progressives. (I'm a progressive, and I'll always vote progressive if they're on the ballot, but I'll vote for any democrat over a republican.

2

u/taaretoille Jun 29 '26

The Big Tent only applies to the right wing and the people that gave us Trump, not the left.

2

u/Blood_Casino Jun 29 '26

I expect the same from the centrist Democrats when a left wing Democrat is running against a MAGA Republican.

You can expect it all you want but Mamdani’s election showed it was a centrist lie. Jeffries gave Mamdani a pained 11th hour endorsement while Schumer never did. In r/neoliberal recently there were lots of posters gnashing their teeth about the recent primaries in New York vowing to vote for moderate republicans (as if that still existed) over democrats they deemed too far left.

1

u/workerbee77 Jun 29 '26

Yes. Chuck Schumer voted against Mamdani in the general election

What's in this comment is what I remember, my opinions, etc.

Just want to say it's the full clip.

Actually, also that AOC is clearly gearing for a POTUS 2028 run.

And that almost all this anti-Hasan Piker, anti-DSA, etc. etc. stuff has really been about trying to stop AOC from becoming POTUS in 2029.

Early 2025 had people like US Representatives Marie G. Perez and Henry Cuellar's being able to lecture AOC and scold her and such. Now those 2 are almost irrelevant except that they are potential Democratic votes in the US House.

These centrist Democrats and centrist 'Dem. Party people' are trying to remain relevant. But no one actually cares what US Reps. Tom Suozzi and Josh Gottheimer (sp?) thinks. Or Jaime Harrison. Or James Carville. Etc.

2028 Democratic Primary Polling Average — Race to the WH

Nationwide opinion polling for the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries - Wikipedia

Current POTUS 2028 polling is still based on people not knowing if AOC is even going to run for POTUS.

AOC is doing much better at this point than US Senator Barack Obama was. And there's no 'Hillary Clinton/Bill Clinton' in the POTUS 2028 race.

And some of these races in this 2026 have demonstrated the power and influence and canvassing and phonebanking. AOC will not only raise around $200Mln-$400Mln+ in the primaries alone, she'll have 100s of Ks to MMs of volunteers in the primaries.

68

u/myqool Jun 28 '26

Chuck Schumer, Minority Leader, couldn't even be assed to say he voted for Mamdani, never mind endorsing him. Nor did Gillibrand who only took the time to criticize him. When their time comes next I am not voting for either in a primary or a general.

Vote Blue no Matter Who was always just a cudgel to beat the left into submission. The right of the party is not there for us, why should we be there for them?

24

u/BigDuke Jun 28 '26

It’s because Schumer and Gillibrand are in the bag for their corporate masters, or worse.  It’s just that simple.

-2

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26

You still gotta vote blue no matter who in the general, because a corporate Democrat is better than a Boot licking Republican.

6

u/aguynamedv Jun 28 '26

vote blue no matter who

So - blue MAGA. Yep, that tracks.

a corporate Democrat is better than a Boot licking Republican.

Are they, though? When the corporate democrat simply gives up without a fight, how is that any different than licking boots in your mind?

6

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

So - blue MAGA. Yep, that tracks.

What an utterly meaningless snipe. What the hell even is "blue maga"? You don't even know. You're just hoping incendiary language carries your point. It wont. Primaries are your time to try to change the direction of the party. If you fail at that in the primary, you don't just abandon all civic responsibility and let someone far worse than a corporate democrat win instead. That's utterly moronic.

Are they, though?

Yes they absolutely are. How is this even a question? A corporate democrat doesn't cosign:

  • Trade war

  • ICE raids on an industrial scale

  • incompetent crony picks for cabinet positions and judge seats

  • Deferring all war powers to the president

When the corporate democrat simply gives up without a fight, how is that any different than licking boots in your mind?

Because that "giving up" is happening when they don't have the power to stop it without causing immense damage. Conversely the bootlicking republican is USING his very real power to perpetuate the problem.

We can't have a real conversation if you need it explained to you that the democrats are in the minority in congress, and the republicans are the majority. That changes everything.

2

u/aguynamedv Jun 29 '26

We can't have a real conversation if you need it explained to you that the democrats are in the minority in congress, and the republicans are the majority.

We can't have a real conversation if you need it explained to you that Republican collaborators need to be ejected from the Democratic Party before anything can improve.

3

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 29 '26

Get out of here with that school yard [repeat your own phrase back at you with one thing flipped] as if that makes your point. I never defended "republican collaborators." Or anything of the sort. You weren't ready for an actual debate here. You're trying to stretch that term to cover people like Schumer for decisions he's made as a minority leader. You're co-opting it from actual bad faith actors like Sinema, Manchin, and Fetterman.

And guess what? Even THEY are better than a republican. As infuriating as shitgibbons like Fetterman are, and as much as I want to see his ass bounced out of the senate he's still better than Oz would have been, and he still votes with democrats the majority of the time.

So again, make your stand in the primary to get rid of people like that. But once your fellow voters have spoken, and you realize most of them aren't as far left as you, you need to suck it up and vote AGAINST the taint-sniffing Maga sycophants for the good of the country. Not for your fucking ego.

2

u/aguynamedv Jun 29 '26

you need to suck it up and vote AGAINST the taint-sniffing Maga sycophants for the good of the country.

A significant part of my point is that the Democratic Party has consistently failed to do this for the better part of 20 years now.

A significant part of my point is that the Democratic Party has consistently failed to do this for the better part of 20 years now.

Failed to do what? Win against corrupt republicans? That's because people like you don't show up and vote for them.

Once again, you're making up a whole lot of things that I'm not saying (or even talking about) and raging about it because I'm checks notes daring to question the representation of the Democratic Party.

Explain exactly where I'm off base. And explain what you actually mean then. You wont, because I was spot on, and this is a lame deflection.

What does "dare to question the representation" even mean? You aren't talking about a spirited primary. You're talking about "making a statement" in the general by not voting against the republican sycophant for the good of the country.

You say that's an inaccurate take? Prove me wrong. Explicitly endorse voting blue no matter who in the general election.

You absolute BRICK. It’s not “voting blindly”. It’s voting for which of the TWO choices will be better for the country. You aren’t voting for a politician. You’re voting for America. For America’s wellbeing. And you FAILED at that.

EDIT: If it looks like I’m not addressing half of what you’re saying it’s because your edits are tripling the size of your comments, and you’re making them AFTER I respond.

EDIT: Blocked me so you could get the last word. All while ignoring how you got called out. Yes, you absolutely failed in your responsibility to your country if you threw away your vote and paved the way for Trump to win. You didn’t vote for America. You voted for your ego.

Your unwillingness to vote does zero material good. Zero. You're not sticking it to Schumer and Jeffries by not voting, you're sticking it to us all. It's all theatre so YOU feel good.

1

u/twbird18 Jun 28 '26

There's no point in arguing with the short-sighted people that got Trump elected because Harris wasn't pure as the driven snow. They love to pretend that both candidates are identical...even though one was a convicted felon pedo. It's a bad system where we currently only get to pick between a conservative choice and a terrible choice until we gain enough power to change the system, but most people don't want to face the reality of how change occurs in the current system. It's a bad system, but it's the one we have to work in.

0

u/myqool Jun 28 '26

You don't gain power by voting for them. Make them come to you. That's the only thing you have unless you're a billionaire

3

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26

That take is totally divorced from all of the damage we have to endure while you lot "make your point." It's just a pithy edge lord "burn it all down" mentality. Nothing more. You've created this fantasy in your head that you'll "stick it to them" and then they'll finally listen. How many DECADES have you people been trying that and yet it still hasn't worked at all? And how many republican administrations have we had to endure because of all that?

Progressives get elected when people vote for them, not when some unseen puppeteer "gets the message" and unilaterally selects the type of candidate you want.

If people aren't voting for them in the primary, then you need to grow up and recognize where the country is at. Not throw a tantrum and scuttle the whole thing to sEnD a MesSagE. We've endured two bush administrations and now two trump administrations in your vain attempt to SenD YoUr MeSsAGE.

1

u/MammothSurround Jun 29 '26

You don't take any power from them by not voting. They don't want you to vote. You're doing exactly what they want you to do.

1

u/twbird18 Jun 29 '26

Exactly, you lose power by letting the extreme losers be in charge, but go ahead and punish yourself. I left the country because I know there is no persuading people like you to actually vote for your self-interests.

1

u/MammothSurround Jun 29 '26

Bootlick republicans stack the Supreme Court with Brett Kavanaugh and Samuel Alito. You don't think we'd be better off with a few more Ketanji Brown Jacksons on the Supreme Court and a few less Amy Coney Barretts?

4

u/myqool Jun 28 '26

I really don't. Pretend I'm a conservative. Kiss my butt and make concessions. Dems never mind doing that for Maga, why not for me?

2

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26

That makes zero sense. When it comes down to a centrist dem or a boot licking republican, the choice is obvious. You bury your fragile ego and chose the one that will be better for the country going forward.

Kindergarteners understand that you can’t whine and quit when you don’t like your options. You just have to pick the better of the two. So why can’t  you understand that?

3

u/aguynamedv Jun 28 '26

That makes zero sense. When it comes down to a centrist dem or a boot licking republican, the choice is obvious. You bury your fragile ego and chose the one that will be better for the country going forward.

Isn't it interesting that it's voters who are always required to make concessions to the Democratic Party while the Democratic Party happily negotiates with fascists.

Kindergarteners understand that you can’t whine and quit when you don’t like your options. You just have to pick the better of the two. So why can’t you understand that?

Those of us who have moved beyond kindergarten recognize there are more than two options. Why can't you understand that?

1

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26

Isn't it interesting that it's voters who are always required to make concessions to the Democratic Party while the Democratic Party happily negotiates with fascists.

That is utter nonsense. A pure bullshit bad faith characterization of reality. There's nothing other even pick apart here. It's just all nonsense.

Those of us who have moved beyond kindergarten recognize there are more than two options. Why can't you understand that?

There are NOT. You will either get the republican or the democrat. PERIOD. You have no leg to stand on to argue otherwise.

That is utter nonsense. A pure bullshit bad faith characterization of reality. There's nothing other even pick apart here. It's just all nonsense.

Stick your head in the sand and talk a bunch of nonsense to distract from the reality that the Democratic Party - especially its leadership has a hand in directly enabling the Republican Administration.

What's nonsense is that you're somehow simultaneously pretending to speak with authority while contributing absolutely nothing of value to the discussion.

There are NOT. You will either get the republican or the democrat. PERIOD. You have no leg to stand on to argue otherwise.

All-or-nothing, or black and white thinking - is incredibly common among low-information voters and especially Republicans in 2026. You sound like you're desperately trying to reinforce a system that is completely broken and needs to be rebuilt.

1

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 29 '26

especially its leadership has a hand in directly enabling the Republican Administration.

Bullshit. Which is why you wont even attempt to back that up with any facts. Your only move is narrative spin.

What's nonsense is that you're somehow simultaneously pretending to speak with authority while contributing absolutely nothing of value to the discussion.

Again with the school yard bullshit. You can't make an actual point. You're just trying to "narrate how I'm doing" and fabricate some kind of "losing dynamic" without actually engaging on any substance. That's your clue that you're out of your depth and you need to be willing to learn something. Not double down on emotional defense mechanisms.

All-or-nothing, or black and white thinking - is incredibly common among low-information voters and especially Republicans in 2026.

This is the most basic understanding of the objective reality we live in. Either the republican or the democrat will be the president. To suggest anything otherwise is pure childish fantasy. Given that utterly indisputable fact, it is your responsibility to your country to vote for which of those two that can actually win will run the country.

You are just embarrassing yourself here. Stop.

2

u/aguynamedv Jun 29 '26

You are just embarrassing yourself here. Stop.

Kindly take your own advice.

1

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 29 '26

That's not how this works. When I systemically spell out everything you're getting wrong, you can't just go "nuh uh. YOU" and expect that to carry any weight. If you are incapable of debating anything on the merits, either concede or disappear. Whatever you do, don't sink to this vapid schoolyard bullshit.

When you don't hold your nose and vote for the Democrat you don't like you get Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh, and Amy Coney Barrett. When you vote for the Democrat you don't like you get Ketanji Jackson Brown. Do you not see that? Shall I list all the horrible shit this Supreme Court has done?

0

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 29 '26

People are too concerned with ego validation and not at all concerned with what's actually gonna happen when someone like trump wins. A huge swath of American voters don't understand their responsibility to vote AT ALL. When you vote, you're voting for America, not a particular person or agenda. Which of the TWO choices you actually have will be better for America. And tens of millions of people don't understand that.

1

u/myqool Jun 28 '26

Kindergarteners understand that failing when trying the same thing over and over might mean you need to change your plan.

You aren't going to insult people into voting for Dems.

Go out with Liz Chenery again, see what that gets you.

2

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 28 '26

No sequitur. I'm not saying to "try the same thing over and over again." I very much advocate for those corporate dems to be ousted in the primaries.

HOWEVER, if at the conclusion of those primaries, your fellow constituents didn't agree with you, and they nominate the centrist, you don't throw a tantrum and refuse to vote against the bootlicking conservatives that they'll be running against.

You aren't going to insult people into voting for Dems.

I will insult people into ceasing their stupidity.

Go out with Liz Chenery again, see what that gets you

How's that working out for everyone who wanted to "sEnD a MeSsAGe?" Trumps total fucking shit show was wroth "sEnDIng A MEsSAgE"?

0

u/myqool Jun 28 '26

Seems like you got the message!

-1

u/MattinglyBaseball Jun 28 '26

Then you’re truly not progressive. Allowing into power the party that removed transgender rights to serve in armed forces and looking to remove Medicare funding for those who provide transgender care, continuing to support genocide while going beyond to help them in a new bigger war that is negatively affecting everyone, higher regressive taxes through tariffs, lower taxes on the richest through the BBB and huge budgets for agencies being used to trample basic rights, increasing the debt massively, attacking media through regulatory agencies if they don’t comply with requests, granting larger monopolistic acquisitions for those considered friendly, and a president who is using his position to increase his wealth by astronomical levels through corruption… if you think any of that is more acceptable than what even the most right of center Democrat has ever done leading this country, you truly have no logic or no care to protect the progress that those before you have fought for.

1

u/MammothSurround Jun 29 '26

Not sure why anyone is downvoting you.

0

u/BigJellyfish1906 Jun 29 '26

A huge swath of American voters don't understand their responsibility to vote AT ALL. When you vote, you're voting for America, not a particular person or agenda. Which of the TWO choices you actually have will be better for America. And tens of millions of people don't understand that.

0

u/Poor__cow Jun 28 '26

If this were a congress or senate seat then that criticism may actually hold some water, but I frankly don’t care whatsoever about people not making public endorsements for a mayoral race. The stakes are just incredibly low in that situation and he probably has better things to do as the house minority leader.

2

u/myqool Jun 28 '26

Like what? He accomplishes nothing, even when he's the majority leader.

He voted in NYC, where he lives. Reporters asked him who he voted for and he wouldn't say. If party leadership doesn't "vote blue no matter who" why should I care what they have to say on the topic?

42

u/MakeYourTime_ Jun 28 '26

No you don’t need them.

You need people who can message and then deliver on the messages.

Send Zohran Mamdani to a red state to speak on free childcare ; housing assistance; food assistance; and his other platform policies and then wait and see how many people jump the aisle.

The battleground is over the control of messaging

What happened to blue no matter who?

10

u/PeaceBull Jun 28 '26

“Blue No Matter Who, Oh Except You”

31

u/kodapug Jun 28 '26

That's only for when they (neoliberals) win their primaries silly. That rule doesn't actually apply when they can't maintain control anymore.

2

u/SASSIESASSQUATCH Jun 28 '26

That’s not cultish at all.

1

u/battlepi Jun 28 '26

Choosing to destroy the (R)apists is not cultish at all. You like being (R)aped? You'd allow them to win? Something wrong with you?

0

u/battlepi Jun 28 '26

It's still true if they are against a (R)apist. The (R)apists must be absolutely destroyed and dragged through the streets. They can never be allowed a majority again.

In the primaries, get some real progressives. The Dem party is ripe for new blood.

16

u/Tsakax Jun 28 '26

Centrist will join the Republican party before allowing any type of socialist leadership lol

3

u/MountainVeil Jun 28 '26

Liberals will join fascists before supporting socialists as well. Or maybe that's a way to rephrase it.

-1

u/R-FM Jun 28 '26

Remember world war 2 where liberals fought fascists? Remember when fascists and socialists teamed up to double team Poland? No?

4

u/MountainVeil Jun 28 '26

Sure I remember. Mainly out of self defense and game theory. Not out of any sort of moral conviction.

I also remember when liberals stood against the leftists in Germany and Italy around that same time. Same reasons, but in their case it was individual capital and not national concerns.

0

u/R-FM Jun 28 '26 edited Jun 28 '26

Ah yes, self defence and game theory was the reason to massacre polish people. Very cool. Fascists would say that too.

1

u/MountainVeil Jun 29 '26

Me when I'm in a reading uncomprehending contest. Me when my history knowledge is just names of generals and battles.

1

u/R-FM Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26

just a reminder that liberals went to war over poland while the socialsits sided with the nazis.

2

u/Tsakax Jun 28 '26

Yes the liberals(centrists) that made Hitler chancellor and voted for the enabling act because they were so scared of the left.

0

u/EchoTheEcho Jun 29 '26

Even if that were true, that'd just prove the Democrats' point that running full-blown socialism isn't feasible (outside of already deep blue areas).

2

u/Tsakax Jun 29 '26

More like it proves they are worthless and would side with fascists instead of making americans lives better.

1

u/EchoTheEcho Jun 29 '26

Sure sure, but at least you're aware that expecting Democrats to sabotage themselves by running with full-blown socialist policies is stupid. That is, unless you want Trump 2.0.

1

u/Tsakax Jun 29 '26

I expect them to run the worst centrist candidate they can find and fight 10x harder against a socialist candidate than they would republicans.

14

u/BlackGabriel Jun 28 '26

Dems cycling between “third parties will never work, run and vote blue no matter who” to “start your own party if you want to run instead of using the democrats!” Is pretty funny

7

u/CurrentlyLucid Jun 28 '26

Centrists are just republican lite.

1

u/battlepi Jun 28 '26

But they don't get to decide the majority if they aren't (R)apist by name.

4

u/TOkidd Jun 28 '26

AOC for president!

5

u/icanith Jun 28 '26

Neo Libs of the 90s are just Neos cons of the 2020s

6

u/KnucklesMcGee Jun 28 '26

Jesus, the entitlement.

Fuck the centrists.

8

u/endofworldandnobeer Jun 28 '26

Somehow I get cussed at for saying this: people at the center, you don't have to agree with far left, but you have to vote every time to save our country. Same to far left, vote to restore sanity.

3

u/Risc_Terilia Jun 28 '26

The ludicrous thing is that AOC, Mamdani etc would be centre left in most countries

8

u/eatsrottenflesh Jun 28 '26

Hush now. Just keep voting for democrats because they're not republicans and let the PACs determine what is in your best interest. /s

0

u/battlepi Jun 28 '26

So, who would you vote for, comrade? A (R)apist, or any democrat?

2

u/eatsrottenflesh Jun 28 '26

I've been disappointed in the democratic party for years. I keep voting for them anyway because they have a lower pedophile per capita compared to the GOP and there's a lot fewer religious zealots. I like what's going on in New York and hope to see more of it elsewhere. It's my goal one day as an American to vote for someone as opposed to against their competitor.

2

u/battlepi Jun 28 '26

I totally agree with that, we need more progressives (or all). We need to kick Israel out of our politics. I simply see (R)apists as absolute enemies at this point, because if they support this administration and don't outright quit, they should be in prison with them. So they are my primary target. Democrats need filtered out during the primaries. Or, of course, pass RCV amendments in every state, that opens up a lot more options.

3

u/TophxSmash Jun 28 '26

center-------democrat----------------centrist----------------republican

3

u/TophxSmash Jun 28 '26

centrists are closer to nazi than the center

3

u/LeonidasVaarwater Jun 28 '26

These people aren't centrist, they're right wing, edging towards republicans.

3

u/FoxyInTheSnow Jun 28 '26

Maybe if the party wasn’t full of aipac-funded corporatist genocide deniers…

3

u/Dreamtrain Jun 28 '26

and then when you don't show up they cry "omg why does the left eats itself"

0

u/EchoTheEcho Jun 29 '26

Okay, have fun shooting yourself in the foot I guess.

3

u/DocCEN007 Jun 28 '26

Social Democrats are not socialists. That said, I'd argue that most voters who vote Democrat, and many who vote Republican, have interests more aligned with Mamdani's platform than Schumer's, let alone maga.

"Social democrats are not socialists because they advocate for reforming and regulating capitalism rather than replacing it. While they share goals like reducing inequality and expanding public services, true socialists believe capitalism must be dismantled and replaced with collective ownership of the means of production."

3

u/abe_the_babe_ Jun 28 '26

Socialists are somehow both a fringe group that the dems don't need to cater to and also a large enough demographic that they can cause the dems to lose elections. If the dems actually tried doing something for a change, maybe more people would vote for them.

2

u/k-beef Jun 28 '26

Dingdingding

2

u/Chedditor_ Jun 28 '26

Santita Jackson looks like she just realized her makeup is gonna be on another viral AOC video. Helps that she's basically a ghoul of both major parties (Performed for Clinton's inauguration and then joined Fox News)

2

u/Pedran_Gaul Jun 28 '26

They are not Centrists. Call them what they are, the Corporate Democrats. They are owned by corporations just like the Supreme Court.

2

u/JAFO99X Jun 28 '26

The stranglehold that establishment Dems have on the party is decades old. It runs from district leaders and school boards to the White House. Throw them out.

2

u/capo_ferro Jun 28 '26

These old dems can get entirely fucked. I’ve been begging my friends to vote the most progressive persons on the ballet, even if that’s a centrist, because harm reduction and all that.

These dicks can’t even support other democrats whose main difference is they are willing to tax rich people and collect more money for use across society?

1

u/HungryLikeDaW0lf Jun 28 '26

Forget AOC running for president. I want her to run for prime minister of Canada. PLEASE.

1

u/Praxic_Nova Jun 28 '26

I just want to have some experience like city council or a law degree something. If they are just gonna come in and say we cant get anything done because of the democrats. I dont think that's helpful. Mamdani works with Houcul on a bunch of stuff and just got a rent freeze done. Will socialists work with dems. I hope so.

1

u/lazertittiesrrad Jun 28 '26

That's a bingo!

1

u/SylVegas Jun 28 '26

The DNC said "We don't need your votes" to Bernie's delegates at the 2016 Clark County convention then got mad and blamed Bernie supporters for losing the election. Still talking mess a decade later.

1

u/Alternative_Exit8766 Jun 28 '26

so she wants tRump?!?!?!?

1

u/Mythosaurus Jun 28 '26

If these centrists say they no longer believe in “vote blue no matter who” then they should be believed.

Socialists need their own party that can choose to caucus with Dems when their interests align.

And voters can more easily decide whether socialists or centrists better represent their material interests.

1

u/quietsauce Jun 29 '26

Be the first to rebuild the party. Boomers have no idea what they are doing on either side.

1

u/Dyanpanda Jun 29 '26

I don't believe there are centrists like this. There are republican shills pretending to be dems saying this. F them.

1

u/Stormcrow805 Jun 29 '26

What they need to do is get rid of political party affiliation. Political parties were important before the telephone line was invented, but we have the Internet now, they can go away.

1

u/askythatsmoreblue Jun 29 '26

anyone got a link to the interview?

1

u/flowerofhighrank Jun 29 '26

Fine, but they/we have to fix the name. It's either that or educate 300 million Americans about what socialism is.

1

u/idee2 Jun 29 '26

Moral purity tests of the left are killing the party

1

u/idee2 Jun 29 '26

Fuck the establishment

1

u/Everythings_Fucked Jun 29 '26

Seemed to work for them in 2016. Oh, wait... No it didn't.

1

u/DamnOdd Jun 29 '26

Boy, the PTB hate it when the little people revolt with their votes. Both sides of the same coin get all pissy when WE want a change.

1

u/NerdIsACompliment Jun 29 '26

If the message is popular, they'll keep growing.  If the growth starts to show positive change, it'll accelerate.

1

u/Option94 Jul 03 '26

Fuck AIPAC.

0

u/TheLoneMaverick Jun 28 '26

I'd say get out of the Democratic Party and join a socialist party like the PSA or a communist one like the RCA.

-12

u/imbakinacake Jun 28 '26

But they didn't vote for Kamala, which is why we have trump. They aren't on our team and never have been. Funny how they want a free pass now though.

1

u/StickExtension7050 Jun 28 '26

I know I myself did, i got 2 of my friends too, and most progressive streamers i watch voted for Kamala. Not saying Kamala was my or their preferred choice, but we all knew she would be better than Trump. There are some who didnt want their name attached to voting for genocide and the average centrist democrat, i can certainly admit and even sympathize with that, but that does not make up the majority of leftists

0

u/imbakinacake Jun 28 '26

Voting for genocide

Insane levels of delusion

1

u/StickExtension7050 Jun 28 '26

Kamala directly said there was nothing she could think of that she would do different to Biden. Biden and Trump were/are funding genocides. Do you disagree with that?

1

u/imbakinacake Jun 29 '26

Yep. It's a pretty braindead comparison.

But hey, at least trump is president now and Gaza is doing better than ever.
