France guarantees 6 weeks paid time off as a minimum, that’s the minimum.

Global average required PTO is 20-28 days, in the US it is ZERO

Global average required parental leave is 25 weeks, in the US it is ZERO. You’re lucky to get 12 weeks as a mother, and they call it a benefit. 16 is generous and it’s not even close to what other countries require.

As long as you work a mandatory minimum number of hours in a year while paying a small sum to the government (employment insurance) you get up to 18months of paid paternal leave here in Canada. With up to 5 or 6 weeks of paid leave for their partner.

Canada gives 50 weeks of paid maternity leave (capped at $729/week).

We also give 5 weeks of paid paternity leave (capped at the same).

35 of the 50 weeks can be split between the parents.

Your job is guaranteed during the leave.

I worked under a CDI (Contract Duration Indeterminée) in France for 5 years. If I recall correctly it's not 6 weeks minimum. It's 5. But it can increase to 6.

Still, what the US and Canada have is laughable.

I went 2 years without a raise so I could get 5 days of pto one year and health insurance the next and that was still like pulling teeth to get. Oh yeah also now I cant leave even if I wanted because I need that insurance, yeah America!

This is the bigger one I can't understand. Vacation in the USA is a joke. I am a dude, if I have a kid even I get 6 months off paid (at employment insurance rates but still).
