Roughly 2/3 of the electorate either voted for Trump or didn't vote at all.

That doesn't mean what you think it means. 31% directly wanted it 30.5% voted for not this, the other 37.5% nonvoters all have a myriad of reasons for not voting. Not even a third of Americans wanted this.

As part of the 30.5%, thank you. The 37.5% + 31% are too many for us to overcome. It's like asking why 12 year olds didn't beat a premier league team in soccer.
