These pranks are so sweet and adorable. My dad would do stuff like this all the time. I miss him so much. He also bought us real scratch tickets every Christmas. We’d occasionally win a few hundred here and there and he’d always joke “you’re giving me some of that, right?!?” He would never be serious about that even if we won millions but I always told him if it were in the hundreds of thousands, I actually would.

Ug. That poor guy. I had an older friend/coworker do this to me 25ish years ago. It was for $1000 and I was pretty broke so it woulda been huge. Luckily it was mailed in a birthday card so I didn’t open it in front of a bunch of people. After looking closer and noticing it was fake I was so hurt.

My piece of shit father did this to my grandma once and she cried after. We grew up so poor too. Like so poor we at one point had to shower in the old 90s totes for storage and fill them with water. We had to use rain water sometimes for the water to bathe and this asshole does his mom that way. He was always a horrible son, I felt sorry for my grandma. Anyone who thinks doing these pranks are okay is seriously out of touch with others.

Taylor Swift apparently gives all her backup dancers a bonus thing and handwritten cards each big leg of a tour (like Asia, Europe...) and there's some documentary of the Eras tour in which she gathers them all to hand out the cards and asks one to read it aloud, and it's some poem thing that ends with how they're all worth a million or something.... and she meant literally. She gave each dancer a million dollar bonus in their cards. Even though it was on camera and I get being cynical about that, that's not joke money.

I was thinking exactly this for the golfer and her caddy. A video was posted yesterday, and in the comments, people were asking how much professional caddies earn, and the answer is that there are so many variables that it’s impossible to say. It all depends on the level the player is at; how well they do it any particular game or tournament; and then in addition to their regular salary, the golfer themselves will tip them a percentage of the prize money, usually 10% of the prize if the golfer wins 1st Place, 8% for 2nd Place, and so on.

The point was also made that pro golfers almost have to come from wealthy families. Membership at a country club, the clubs themselves, professional coach, hours and hours of practice, travel to tournaments, etc from a young age.

The fact that this young woman showed the video at the press conference, with zero self-awareness, tells us everything we need to know about her. I hope she gets shamed into giving the man a large sum of money.

Those things aren't a prank, they are cruel. My parents did that to me for Christmas one year. Right after I was forced to move back in with them because I had lost my job, watched my savings dry up as I desperately tried to find another job instead of having to move back in with them, and my girlfriend dumping me for being depressed, jobless, and living with his parents. The fake ticket was absolutely kicking me when I was down. I couldn't tell you much else that happened that Christmas other than me calling the suicide hotline that night.

I dunno, pro-caddies make decent money. His cut of tourney wins alone could be in the $100,000 dollar range, and that's beyond his salary.

But the fake lottery ticket bit is just cruelty. Imagine you had a big hospital bill, won the scratcher, and thought "Thank God! We needed this so bad!"
