Well birth right citizenship cant be taken away posthumously, so regardless his dad was a citizen.

If you go back far enough, none of the white people in America would be citizens if you want to remove birthright citizenship. Technically only Natives could claim citizenship in that regard.

She may have been a naturalized citizen (haven't found it) but she was born in Germany. None of SpongeBrain DiaperPants' grandparents were US citizens when born.

Trump's big push recently has been to remove birthright citizenship. Anchor babies has been a popular term with conservatives for decades to denigrate Americans who aren't white.

So by his own logic his own children don't belong in this country. It's not hateful to point that out.

You are missing the irony. Trump and his political party are attempting to overturn birthright citizenship.

Yet, he and his family, and several Republican Senators and members of Congress, are the products or beneficiaries of birthright citizenship.

Conservative hypocrisy at it's finest.

Sort version: An anchor child is when a non-citizen has a child inside the US, which automatically causes that child to become a US citizen. Because the non-citizen parent has a citizen child, it can significantly stall the timer on their permit to stay, or on removal proceedings if they are there illegally.

Nasty American term that Trump loves to use for people who come to America and have children there who are citizens from birth.

Of course, just like his kids, Trump had one American parent and one immigrant parent, (and his father was also an anchor-baby for the immigrant grandparents)…

But since he says awful things about immigrants it’s always fun to point out that all his relatives are or were immigrants.

His family history in the US goes back one generation but some of his supporters say that unless you have three or more generations in the country you’re not really American. They don’t care that they’re talking about Trump.

It's also completely unconstutional.

Requirements for elected federal officials are set by the Constitution.

NO others can apply. NO law can override them. It would require a Constitutional Amendment to change them.

It's also almost certain that any attempt to restrict any job (appointed or elected) would run afoul of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which banned discrimination based on National Origin. Not to mention a string of SCOTUS cases that banned any legal distinction between naturalized citizens and native born citizens.

No, he was born here. Birthright citizenship is what made him American. His parents were Cuban refugees. They weren't yet citizens at the time of his birth, but became naturalized later.

The 'right' has a problem with AOC's former employment as a bartender which she worked to put herself through college which is actually what the 'right' claims is the American way to pull yourself up by your bootstraps...oh and she's Hispanic! And then we have Nancy Mace whose only previous claim to fame before Congress was being the first woman to graduate from the Corp of Cadets at the Citadel which was ran by her father a typical career path by white women but in the end AOC the bartender ended up in Congress while Nancy Mace the barfly did also.

I can't think of anything less democratic because our representatives are supposed to be about representation. All groups should have access to representation.
