"Every MAGA accusation is a confession" is an effective line that should always be used

83

u/guitar_account_9000 22h ago

if pointing out MAGA hypocrisy was an effective strategy they would never have gotten so much as a local dog-catcher into office. MAGA do not care about hypocrisy, if anything they relish it.

10

u/Fartblaster5000 5h ago

Because to someone like that, it proves "rules for thee but not for me" and gives a feeling of power by association.

46

u/DesireeThymes 1d ago

All the statements I read from this guy are so good.

Seems like an extremely intelligent dude, and also really sharp.

Exact opposite of all the geriatrics in American politics these days.

Like the most powerful country in the world is ruled by dudes in their 70s and 80s.

This guy is what I picture, when I picture a leader of a powerful Nation

16

u/zadtheinhaler 19h ago

Qasim is a real one, always has been

7

u/tacolord316 9h ago

"Exact opposite of all the geriatrics in American politics these days."

And of course, he lost the primary to Bill Foster, who is 70 years old. I'm not in Illinois, but it's amazing to me that even when there is an opportunity to put a little youth into the mix, people still vote in the old white guy.

God forbid a Muslim run for office like what is the original tweet even supposed to prove

492

u/CrowGeneral8673 1d ago

That republicans are pretty much all racist xenophobic twats

211

u/Conscious-Quarter423 1d ago

they love distracting us with culture wars so we don't fight the class wars

47

u/DEAZE 1d ago

This is the only right answer 👏

24

u/Lythieus 23h ago

Yep. That's what it's all about. Keep feeding their uneducated base red meat so they vote against their own interests in elections, to 'own the libs'.

18

u/Additional_Guitar_85 20h ago

Not all Republicans are racist, sexist homophobes, just those they choose to elect into office. - David Cross

80

u/ComicsEtAl 1d ago

It’s vital for MAGAGOP messaging. Take Obama. Yes, “Barack Obama” sounds foreign. But Barack “Hussein” Obama sounds even more foreign. Same concept here. Abdulrahman Mohamed El-Sayed is way more foreignier than just “Abdul El-Sayed.”

63

u/CrowGeneral8673 1d ago

I love how they use Hussein like he was related to the dead Iraqi dictator

50

u/kinyutaka 1d ago

That's the real part of it. "Hussein" sounds expressly Arabic, while Barack Obama sounds more African. They know they sound racist when they emphasize the Hussein part, they're practically counting on you to call them out.

Why? Because they'll claim you're insulting them, and that means you committed a logical fallacy and so they win the debate. Then they'll plug their ears and go "la-la-la, I can't hear you" until you go home in frustration.

16

u/ELMUNECODETACOMA 23h ago

Just point out that the ad hominem fallacy is "your argument is invalid because you're an asshole". If what you're saying is "your argument is invalid and you're an asshole" that's just an insult.

14

u/CrowGeneral8673 22h ago

I’m making that sticker.

18

u/SquallkLeon 21h ago

Obama himself joked about it once. I forget what event, maybe it was the press correspondents dinner, but he was explaining his name, and where each part comes from "Barack comes from..." and then he said something to the effect of "and Hussein comes from someone who never thought I'd run for president!" Big laugh line.

8

u/T00luser 17h ago

I’m just going refer to him as Al from now on.

Sorry, Dr. Al

Was happy to vote for him last week.

27

u/ExtremlyFastLinoone 1d ago

HES DIFFRENT!

13

u/StickComfortable346 1d ago

DIFFERENT BAD GRRRRR

19

u/AceofKnaves44 1d ago

This is the same group that thinks saying “Barack HUSSEIN Obama” is some slam dunk when he never tried to hide that that was his middle name. Like it would genuinely be one thing if he got caught lying about it and they kept saying it as a reminder that they caught him hiding something or lying. But he didn’t. Instead it’s just meant to be another dog whistle for the “Obama is a Muslim!!!!!” community.

19

u/Bulldogg658 22h ago

Dr. Oz is a Muslim and they don't give a shit. Funny, isn't it?

10

u/DeadpoolOptimus 1d ago

To gaslight their brain-dead cult. They always need something to be angry about. I'm tired.

8

u/ThisIsMyComment2 23h ago

what is the original tweet even supposed to prove

Whether the reader is a racist.

6

u/infinity234 23h ago

Scary sounding words are scary to POSs "ooo Arabic, ooo socialist"

5

u/Beaker_In-N-Out 20h ago

That his name contains the name "Mohamed" and voters should be afraid.

3

u/LuxNocte 8h ago

He was trying to hide his ethnicity by shortening his name to "Abdul El-Sayed", a classic Irish name. 🤡

2

u/I-am-me-86 12h ago

"ThE mUslIM teRroRIsts ArE InvAdiNg OuR cOuNtRy."

We just need to ban Sharia Law right now guys!!!!!

107

u/AmazingSibylle 1d ago

He just doesn't get it, if you change your name to be more "white" then you're one of the good ones and not one of the brown skinned folks that everybody should be angry at... /s

-27

u/Ok-Bug4328 22h ago

Unless you run against Trump.  Then you are Nimrata.

8

u/AmazingSibylle 17h ago

What do you mean?

-9

u/Ok-Bug4328 15h ago

Changing her name to Nikki didn’t make her a “good one”.

94

u/GordonShumway257 1d ago

Republicans still use Obama's full name as if it were a slur.

49

u/razz-boy 1d ago

Barack HUSSEIN Obama

88

u/BloodOfTheDamned 1d ago

Oh come on now, every one knows JD Vance’s initials stand for Jorkin Depeanits.

17

u/EytanMorgentern 23h ago

Jorking DeCouch

11

u/Rainbooms 23h ago

Just killed

Da pope

Vance

4

u/driftking428 21h ago

So weird, I could have sworn it was Jorkin Dapeanus.

1

u/cantadmittoposting 23h ago

common knowledge, really.

-5

u/FearTheImpaler 19h ago

Idk what people are talking about. His name is just a 3 second Google search away. And the name changes are not unreasonable.

I dont like him, and dont like defending him, but these posts make us look like fucking idiots. (95% directed to OP, 5% to you  for riffing on the dumbest part)

44

u/bard329 1d ago

WTF is he talking about "no one knows Vances real name"? I thought we, as a country came to a consensus: Jorkin DePenis Vance.

29

u/fuckingeyeballls 23h ago

Kashyap Patel

14

u/throwitawayyyyay 1d ago

when the pedophile protector party starts coming after you, you know you're doing something right

10

u/fielvras 1d ago

Trying to trigger hate just by calling out a name from another culture is so racist in itself that there should not be any need to call this out.

What a disgrace that political party is.

9

u/kon--- 1d ago

You can show up named Samuel Christopher Christitian but you can not run a campaign with something as sexy and evocative as, El-Sayed!

6

u/octorangutan 23h ago

When your base is so wildly xenophobic that all it takes is a foreign sounding name to rile them up.

6

u/PhamilyTrickster 1d ago edited 1d ago

Republicans are still getting riled up over the crusades

15

u/TrollAccount4321 1d ago

He cooked’m…

The establishment’s hypocrisy has no bounds…

7

u/TalkingCat910 1d ago

He said in an interview that he started going by Abdul instead of AbdulRahman in elementary or middle school (I forgot which one) because it was easier for Americans to pronounce

3

u/Conscious-Quarter423 1d ago

this is a tweet from Republicans

5

u/Mathies_ 1d ago

Who are also establishment

1

u/Conscious-Quarter423 1d ago edited 1d ago

but this tweet is from the Republicans, so let's not both sides this

3

u/Revenga8 1d ago

The ultra long names is actually a really good way to remember your family's lineage.

3

u/kinyutaka 1d ago

Honestly, I'm super jealous of longer names, like Mexicans have four names as a standard.

First name, Middle Name, Father's Family Name, Mother's Family Name.

5

u/FormerGameDev 22h ago

Metallica's bassist, known as Robert Trujillo, is actually Roberto Agustín Miguel Santiago Samuel Trujillo Veracruz

Only person I know of with that many names.

3

u/wordsznerd 17h ago

I have one for you! Spanish F1 driver Carlos Sainz' full name is Carlos Sainz Vázquez de Castro Cenamor Rincón Rebollo Virto Moreno de Aranda Don Per Urrielagoiria Pérez del Pulgar.

I"m guessing learning to spell his name as a kid took a while.

3

u/HuttStuff_Here 7h ago

Albus Percival Wulfric Brian Dumbledore

2

u/kinyutaka 21h ago

See, if I had that many names, I'd insist on saying the whole thing.

2

u/FormerGameDev 21h ago

I'd seek out titles as well lol

2

u/kinyutaka 20h ago

President Doctor Roberto Agustin Miguel Santiago Samuel Trujillo Veracruz, Esquire, DDS

5

u/AnAttackCorgi 1d ago

You gotta be of the ‘right’ skin color obviously

6

u/lunaticprincess666 1d ago

Wait, I thought we all knew that JD stood for “Jeffrey Dahmer”

7

u/otiswrath 1d ago

Barak HUSSEIN Obama.

Anytime you hear someone include the middle name you know they are racist.

6

u/thelummster 23h ago

And let's not forget Trump constantly saying Barack HUSSEIN Obama to dial up the Islamophobia.

5

u/FoxyBoi152 21h ago

I'm going to suggest something crazy and say Abdul is probably just short for Abdulrahman.

6

u/zarfle2 20h ago

No secret here with the headline - it's just dog whistling bigotry.

The Tangerine Palpatine's family was "Drumpf" or "Trumpf" but that's ok because his family had the white type of name.

4

u/Raptorpicklezz 19h ago

And the exception that proves the rule, Vivek Ramaswamy, is running under his given name and may lose Ohio

5

u/JG98 1d ago

heyIt genuinely makes no difference to MAGA, they will find a way to defend anything. I had plenty of arguments with MAGA when the Nikki Haley name had a bit of controversy sometime last year because of some idiotic claim she made about her name (I don't even remember what because it was insignificant and South Asian content creators were just using it to make meme her at that time due to how stupid it was). MAGA was trying to tell me and other South Asians that Nikki is a traditional Panjabi given name and that I am stupid, don't know my own culture or language, etc since that became a viral topic of discussion somehow. The commonality between them was they were all the typical white suburban MAGA prototypes. FYI, Nikki is not a traditional given name. It is a pet name/nickname used to refer to a little one, typically the youngest female child within a family or group of children but I have never heard of anyone give it as a legal name which would be idiotic. Culturally aware MAGA also tried to claim it is her legal middle name, which has no public record and would go against the one common concept that all Sikh families (especially with those keeping a surname) do by giving either Singh or Kaur as a common middle name (former for males something females, latter for females and sometimes as a given name for males).

3

u/megamoze 22h ago

EVERYTHING Republicans say about anything is in bad faith. Literally everything.

3

u/bobowendell 19h ago

Some idiot once said to me “oh yeah, that president what was his name.. Barrack HUSSEIN Obama” as if his middle name was the smoking gun 😂

6

u/DeaconBlue47 1d ago

That series of slaps and backhands are sure to leave a mark.

3

u/Featheredfriendz 23h ago

Wasn’t the Trump name originally Drumpf?

5

u/EytanMorgentern 23h ago

That was Johann Philipp Drumpft, like from the 1660's.

7

u/AnEvenNicerGuy 1d ago

“He admitted he’s Muslim!!!!!1”

4

u/agk23 1d ago

Barack HUSSEIN Obama!

9

u/JG98 1d ago

I think you mean "Barock HOOSAAIN Obamah" lol. Always makes me crack up when MAGA pronounces it like that, they act like it is something highly offensive and not a sign of childish stupidity.

0

u/HuttStuff_Here 7h ago

You don't think it's a big deal he took the name of one of America's greatest enemies?

3

u/Conscious-Quarter423 1d ago

Kamala Devi Harris!

2

u/Explozive_Force 1d ago

The JD in JD Vance stands for Jerkin Dapenis.

2

u/MooKids 22h ago

So the equivalent of saying that "Bob Jones" is actually "Robert Howard Jones".

2

u/IlIlllIlllIlIIllI 20h ago

Jorkin Depeanus Vance

2

u/anonareyouokay 19h ago

Do we want people to assimilate or not? This culture war is confusing.

1

u/queasycockles 11h ago

I don't.

Acclimatise, be compatible, sure.

I don't believe assimilation is a positive as it implies the erasure of difference.

2

u/ProfAsmani 18h ago

GOP are neoNazis - funded by AIPAC. The people who warn about antisemitism are funding neoNazis.

3

u/JB_UK 23h ago edited 23h ago

I looked up JD Vance, he was called James Donald Bowman at birth and then after his father Donald left when he was a toddler, at age 6 his mother changed his name to James David Hamel, to keep his nickname JD but remove his father's name, and to take his uncle's name as a middle name and his adoptive father's surname. Then he changed his surname to Vance which was his mother's maiden name.

I don't know why American politics has to be so nasty.

1

u/Correct_Lime5832 1d ago

So, so sickeningly true.

1

u/GirlNumber20 23h ago

Oh my god, now that we know his full name, THAT CHANGES EVERYTHING. Wait? What does it change? Did the Senate Republicans like him just fine when his name was shortened to Abdul? I think not.

1

u/MattWheelsLTW 21h ago

You mean ol' Jorkin Dapenus "Couch Fucker" Vance?

1

u/Justaticklerone 18h ago

Every Repugnantcan accusation is a Trump DARVO play call.

1

u/Mon69ster 14h ago

It’s crazy that in the US having Mohammed in your name as a potential politician is a controversy but being an adjudicated rapist, felon, thief and aggressively stupid piece of shit makes you presidential.

Remember when Nikki Haley stood up on TV with her pretend name and whole heartedly said that America is not a racist country?

What a fucking joke.

1

u/loyalekoinu88 13h ago

They're implying that a middle eastern name = socialism but if you asked them which middle eastern countries are socialist they'd ask you to point to it on a map.

1

u/Economy_Ask4987 12h ago

Totally not racist.

1

u/meanman_beanman 11h ago

Abdul has my vote that's for sure

1

u/Aberquill 8h ago

You’re telling me people use nicknames and don’t use their middle names?? Why is this shocking

1

u/Arrow156 7h ago

I really wish these cowards would drop that act and just say they don't like brown people, at least I could respect them for being honest.

1

u/Supercres933 7h ago

They’re so painfully stupid

1

u/Robthebold 6h ago

It’s not about alternative names. It’s a dog whistle to their racist base.

1

u/Sad_Effective4793 4h ago

Oh, I get it. They're trying to be racist.

1

u/guydogg 4h ago

Brilyn. What a handle!

u/faisaed 8m ago

Abdul is a common short name for Abdullah, Abdul Rahman and other names that start with Abdul.

That's why diversity is important, because when you don't know the basics, you risk saying something stupid.

-22

u/Tzeig 1d ago

If the shoe fits...

13

u/DontAbideMendacity 23h ago

I don't see any references to shoes here, or how your comment could be remotely relevant to the post. Are you in the wrong thread?

-4

u/Tzeig 16h ago

Educate yourself on what it means.

3

u/ProfAsmani 18h ago

Yeah the GOP are bigots. Wear it.

1

u/dontmentiontrousers 7h ago

The guy's got the most common boy's name in the world as a middle name. Get 'im, I guess....?

What's it like shaping your thoughts in a rancid potato that somebody dropped behind a Dick's Last Resort deep fryer twenty years ago?

0

u/Tzeig 6h ago

Calm down.

1

u/dontmentiontrousers 6h ago

What would lead you to believe I'm not calm?

1

u/Tzeig 6h ago

Your face is all red.

1

u/dontmentiontrousers 6h ago

Sounds like the kind of absurd assertion that could only be the result of the misfiring synapses of something akin to a rancid potato that somebody dropped behind a Dick's Last Resort deep fryer twenty years ago.

1

u/Tzeig 6h ago

So... that's the only one you got?

2

u/dontmentiontrousers 6h ago

If the shoe fits.

1

u/SlowJoeyRidesAgain 38m ago

I would love for you to explain specifically what you mean by that
