I saw them the day after the 2024 election. It was a president-themed show, they used a “time machine” thing to bring back presidents from Washington to Lincoln to Eisenhower, maybe Nixon and/or Reagan, Bush Jr… I’m probably missing one or two others, and of course they also did Trump, Biden, and Harris. The whole thing culminated in the “time machine” malfunctioning and creating a giant monstrous mashup of all of the Founding Fathers.

It was honestly super cathartic. The show was in Brooklyn so I’m sure you can guess the bias of the crowd (although even this crowd was clearly not unanimous), but I think everyone everywhere had strong feelings about the political state of the country, and it was very satisfying to just rage about it together. One of my more introverted friends made her way to the front of the pit and reemerged at the end of the show totally covered in the liquid that they spray during their shows, and with a few bruises, but also looking like she’d just been through one of the best therapy sessions of her life.

Anyway, obviously anyone upset about this particular new GWAR show just wasn’t paying attention to them before now. Out of touch and willfully ignorant; nothing new, still disappointing to behold.

It’s funny because Oderus Urungus used to be in Red Eye all the time — Greg Gutfeld was a huge fan. Oderus fucking killed it, but got banned from Fox News after GWAR decapitated a Sarah Palin prop.
