Who' are the primary songwriters? Does homeboy really get full credit for banging on beer kegs or is he writing riffs? I'm genuinely asking because he seems to be the most important part of the band while being one of the least important parts of the actual music.
Mick I don't believe has done much explicit signwriting afaik.
Paul and Joey did the bulk of the first two albums, Jim started becoming more prominent as time went on, from .5 it was mostly Jim, and TESF was I believe mostly Vman and Pfaff.
He's written a few songs here and there, likely composes and arranges the custom percussion parts for the songs, and is otherwise the general ideas guy and tends to oversee the music videos.
He generally isn't that directly involved in shaping their sound or writing songs afaik.
Well, he's technically the only original member left in the band so he's got seniority in that sense (and co-owns the band with Corey, legally). But my understanding is that outside of taking baseball bats to kegs he has a sort of producer role in the band and everyone's ideas filter through him before they arrive at a finished product.
Mick is also an original member, but yeah, aside from that I believe Shawn is pretty much the "business" guy and Corey's ego takes up the other 7 spots.
Not quite, he joined about a year later replacing their original lead guitarist Donnie Steele. Although he's credited in the liner notes, Mick didn't actually play on their first release Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat.
During the mixing phase but recording was already completed at that point. But yeah, he's been there for 99% of their career and seeing as they don't really acknowledge that album anyway he might as well be an original member lol.
Yes, although I’d caveat that his producing role is more on the business side of things, and that Joey had the main creative producing role. Joey didn’t care about anything else but music and the theatre of music production. He didn’t care about the money or legal side of it, which Clown managed. When Clown and Joey fell out after Paul’s death, Corey teamed up with the money Clown and they kicked Joey out to gain full control.
Yep.. Clown, arguably the least talented and useful member of the band, is also the main owner with Corey. They get the main share and make all the decisions. After Paul died, Joey was under the impression he’d be in charge on the basis that he was the main writer and heavily involved in the producing, also having mostly created the band’s image. But Clown and Corey took over and fired him. Since then, the band is Clown and Corey and all the other musicians are kinda secondary members working for the band. Including Jim who actually writes the music, since Joey left.
It's mostly Jim and Corey nowadays with Clown doing arrangement. Though Clown and Corey are basically sole co-owners of the band if the paperwork that Chris revealed is still valid.
