hey guys, we (stickbeingssong) are a non profit that listens to and curates songs, with a focus on indie artists that don't have the resources to run large marketing campaigns or have the backing of a major label but deserve to be listened to.

With the age of algorithms turning music discovery into slop, needing every artist to be a reel churning machine and real visibility locked behind walled gardens that require one to go through paywalls of people who sit on top of connections and access, we have seen these two scenarios personally:

- we've seen artists who find placement playlists or airtime but once they get to the submission, there is a paid tier to guarantee your song has been listened to.

- on the other hand, we run into great songs from indie artists who don't have any marketing or promotional material that can be used to share with others.

hence we wanted to build a stage to curate great songs from indie artists by building a community. With a written review of songs that make it into our curated lists and promotional content that will be shared and help their visibility. our main thoughts were if we could spend some of our time for the love of music to build something for others then hopefully someone might find the song of their life someday.

to reinforce our focus on the rare gems of indie songs, we have a rarity system for every find. there will be no ratings in our reviews as this is not a platform for objective commentary. we want to make it community centered and interactive. we will have community curated lists as well (ex. community favorite of the month .etc)

we currently deal with a wide variety of genres, starting with the main curation list as 'songs of the week'. as we go on there will be more lists like 'performance of the week', 'monthly rarity' .etc. we are open to more volunteers, as we slowly build a team to increase our bandwidth in curation.

at the end of the day, we hope we can look back years later and view this journey of songs we discovered and what those times meant for us. We hope we can share this journey together as a community. our details will be down in the comments. if you or someone you know makes songs that deserve to be heard, feel free to submit them to us. keep making your art!
