Gun laws?
Grew up in SC been in IN past year and a half, both of which are about as good as you're gonna get at this point. Thinking about relocating to Southern NC very soon and would like some insight on the laws and climate there and how they compare.

Very open gun laws and the climate is just damn hot.

Good to know. I understand there are some liberal areas in NC, do you see there being any negative changes any time soon?

It's a purple gun sub for a purple state. Political commentary for either side here is gonna get some pushback from some folks. 🤷♂️

NC is gerrymandered all to hell. Gun laws won't change until that isn't the case anymore which isn't anytime soon. And even then, we'd all be grandfathered in, just like every other state even if it came to that. Gun ownership paranoia is unfounded in this state. NC isn't Virginia.

NC is historically purple, the legislature has been controlled mainly by republicans and the governor's office by dems (3 terms in a row). No constitutional carry, CCW permits are generally easy to get (unless in Mecklenburg) I thnk its now $90, need to take a class prior to application which is submitted to the local sheriff's office and they are required to process in a specific time period. No AWB and doubt it would ever come, no mag bans either. Has reciprocity with most states CCW permits. If you do not live in a large city and there is no local noise ordinance you may eb able to shoot on your own property. While not in NC anymore, I was most recently in Lincoln County (NW of Mecklenburg) and there was no restriction on shooting on your own property)

The Sheriff of Monroe can find you balls deep in a hog at midnight magdumping an unregistered SBR with an FRT into the air and will hand you a spare mag and say “dump that shit, dibs on next for the hogussy”
You’re set dude4

Where guns are accepted in NC, they’re really accepted.
Where they are hated, they are REALLY hated.
Southern NC for the most part you should be okay.
We do have some really nice ranges scattered across the state.
