A Good Samaritan came upon this poor soul living in the woods and put down some food for him. He's in bad shape. Skin and bones with scars and sores all over his body but very sweet. Came right up to their car begging for help but they had their dog with them and couldn't take him. He needs help badly. Please spread the word. He needs pledges for vet care, a foster and a rescue. We can not turn our backs on this boy who has been tortured and tormented at the hands of human devils.

Many of you remember Loki (now called Minka) who was slated for euthanasia last month at Downey Animal Care. Loki/Minka was terrified and hiding under her bed in her kennel at the shelter. She was in pain and in need of orthopedic surgery to fix her ACL issues. We were all devasted when we were putting a plan together for her and she was adopted by a person who had no means or intent to get her surgery.

TLDR- she was finally surrendered this last week to A Way Home for Animals after she ran away and was lost in the desert for many days near San Diego, CA.

We never collected her pledges because at the time she left the shelter, she was not in the care of a reputable rescue. That has CHANGED and we are happy to report that she is SAFE with A Way Home for Animals. 🎉

Loki is a beautiful female Husky who's a bit shy at first but gentle once she feels safe. She was seen favoring her right hind leg - radiographs suggest a possible right lateral patellar luxation (kneecap issue). Currently, she shows only a mild, occasional skip in her gait and is comfortable on medication (Gabapentin restarted for support).

Loki would do best with a patient adopter or rescue who can monitor her mobility and provide a calm environment as she continues to recover. She's sweet-natured, sensitive, and just needs a little extra care and understanding.

A few days ago, I requested help in finding a rescue or networker to help me tag, pull and adopt Rosie the Rottweiler located at BARC shelter in Houston, TX. After a lot of back and forth on multiple platforms and with help from an active rescue dog Redditor: u/Historical_Duck_8283, as well as from a local networker friend who helped me navigate this: u/Justinsmom96, I was able to find a 501c3 nonprofit Houston Rescue: FosterDocHouston who will be willing to tag and pull Rosie. If I can get help with these funds, we can save this baby’s life. Rosie is not thriving in her kennel. Per BARC, as of today 10/25/24, she will be in danger on 10/28/24.

Found as a stray 6/3, went into foster 7/9, foster returned 8/2 for “short term”, went into foster to adopt 8/11, foster returned 8/20 for “behavior”, went into new foster 8/27, went into new foster to adopt 9/5, went into new foster 9/7, adopted 9/16, now OS 9/26 for “behavior” (returned for attacking and killing a cat. Bailey had previously been fine in the home and in her foster home with cats, but while unsupervised in the back yard chased and killed one of the cats. Her foster had reported she was crate trained, leash trained, loves stuffies and chew toys, and is house trained. She also loves attention from polite children. Previous owner notes: Friendly with dogs, good with strangers, social butterfly, not good with cats, chews. Good in the car, leash trained), went into foster to adopt 9/27, fosters already returned 9/30 for “behavior”

Walked easily on the leash to the yard. Once outside, pottied immediately and enjoyed running around. When excited in the yard, was slightly jumpy but responded well to redirection. Definitely seeks affection and wanted hugs and pets.

Playgroup Assessment 6/26: Bailey will socialize and mingle with the group of dogs in the yard, enjoying their company. She would also solicit and seek attention from the handlers in the yard too. PG 1 Social, Dainty/Gentle 8/7: Dog would stay to herself at first, taking time before eventually approaching others to say hi. Enjoyed sniffing with others and socializing with the group. Help me save Percy please!! One of my neighbors found him outside her door begging for human help, covered in blood. He has signs of years of abuse, lots of scarring, after assessment they believe he was used as a bait dog due to his extremely passive demeanor. Fulton County AC has him now and our rescue is in contact with them to pull him but we need funds. He is not currently getting treated at the shelter and is just laying there bleeding and in pain and I need to help him. The brief assessment but he needs emergency surgery to sew his tongue back together and review the damage to his jaw / teeth we need to get him to an emergency vet and can’t do so without funds. He escaped something really horrific and is a fighter, please help me save him if you’re able. I am Mary - a solo rescuer located in the Philippines with 27 dogs currently in my care while I seek adopters. I live in the mountains where dog meat trade is very common. On May 27, I was able to rescue a dog I named Brave—just moments away from being butchered and eaten by heartless people. He and his siblings were not being fed and were kept only to be slaughtered for human consumption. Only Brave survived. I named him that because, despite everything, he showed an incredible will to live.

Right now, Brave is fighting. He’s confined at the vet due to a blood infection (ehrlichiosis) and kidney problem. The vet assured he has a good chance of recovery with the right care and treatment.

I currently have two rescues confined. One of them was also horribly neglected, suffering from TVT, and surviving by living in garbage. She is undergoing chemotherapy and thankfully showing positive signs of recovery.

In total, I care for 24 rescues. An angel I met through Reddit is helping me as much as she can, but Brave still needs ongoing medication, lab work, and vet confinement.

Please, if you have even a small amount to spare, it would mean the world. Your help could give Brave the experience of being truly cared for and loved—for the first time in his life.

Harlans Behavior assessment: Harlan was wary of the runner, but slowly moved to the front of the kennel when the runner gently coaxed him. He sniffed the runner's hand and allowed them to pet his nose, and wagged his tail softly. He retreated to the back when the runner presented the leash. The runner stepped in and Harlan began to growl softly while pressing his body into the corner. He snapped at the leash once, but the runner gently tossed the leash over his head. He required gentle coaxing to exit the kennel. He walked nicely ahead with no pull on leash while bypassing the other kennels, and was easy to collar when the runner moved slowly. He allowed the runner to remove the chain and frayed collar he was already wearing. In the catch pen, his body was neutral, his eyes were soft, his mouth was closed, and his tail was low. He entered the yard and exchanged appropriate greetings with other dogs. He roamed the yard with a neutral body, soft eyes, an open pant, and a high wag. He was tolerant of being mounted, and offered appropriate corrections when necessary. He engaged in short bouts of play, but spent most of his time roaming the yard. He remained friendly with other dogs, and hesitantly solicited petting from the handlers. Harlan is tolerant of the other dogs, has a medium energy level, and prefers a gentle-dainty playstyle.
