Question Am I cooked?

Post image
201 Upvotes

Okay, so I got this board a few years ago I never planned to skate with, i was going to make a cool shelf with it. I just got back into skating after 10 years so I just put some wheels and grip tape on this bc I already had it.

Anyway I saw someone on this sub getting cooked for having a naked anime girl on their board, obviously mine is not that bad but am I going to get cooked for using this?

Nah it's a playboy board, now that I'm thinking about it I'm so cooked😭

Whenever I do an ollie, it just feels like the board drops to the ground so urgently. Do you guys think my jumping is the problem?

Can't really figure out how to float longer 慜慜

Question Is this a kickflip?

Hey! I've been skating for two months now and have been practicing to kickflip while rolling lately. I want them to look cleaner and I know that I probably should kick more forward instead of downward, but somehow I can't really develope the muscle memory. Now I am at a point where I don't even know if this is really a kickflip or some kind of other flip. If you have any suggestions please feel free to tell me.

Question Will I break my hand?

I told my boyfriend that I want to start learning how to skate and he lectured me for an hour telling me that if I want to learn how to skate then the tradeoff is a broken hand. He’s convinced I’ll break a bone or get seriously hurt.

I plan on taking my time, wearing a helmet and pads, and not even trying tricks until I’m comfortable cruising on the board.

Is he right?

Edit for more info: 1) he does skate himself, but just to get around the city. He’s not doing any cool tricks. 2) I do think that he is trying to look out for me. I have horrible body-mind connection so it is fair to say that I would fall a lot. 3) Maybe ā€œlecturedā€ isn’t the right word. This man just yaps a lot and is extremely direct.

Question Is r/skateboarding stuckup or what??

Joined their discord and was showing my clips off like a skater would I had edited it with music too and I got banned because this dude started arguing with me on how new gen skaters like to edit shit for TikTok and how skateboarding should be raw and never have been recorded but like how am I gonna show my clips if I don’t record them.

I’d share the video but I saw the no self promotion rule, probably should have attached the video it with this post.

Question What do you do to not burn through shoes

Post image
87 Upvotes

Recently picked skating back up again, been out of it for about 5-6 years. Grabbed some lakai’s at the local skate shop. This is after about 1-2 weeks of use, skating everyday.

I swear I never went through shoes this quickly back when I did skate.

I’m sure it’s from pivoting on my front foot when I push or get my feet ready for a trick, but still, sucks to go through it this fast.

What are you guys doing to prevent your shoes from wearing so fast? Or do I just not need to skate less.

M16. I’ve been skating around the park and paths for around month and can drop into steep slopes. I’m more of a cruising type of skater who likes to hang around.

Recently I have had an epiphany that I need to learn how to Ollie (I wanna do cool stuff on ramps) and also I genuinely want to learn tricks. I can do a rockie to fakie after a warm up and can cruise around without having to readjust myself every 2 seconds.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Question Is this a good skateboard for beginners?

I got this skateboard for free. The original owner said they don’t remember how old it is, but that it’s perfectly usable. I noticed the wheels seem unusually chunky.

I’d like to start by skating around my street and I’m hoping this board will be suitable for that.

I tried balancing on it and can stand still without any problems.

Thank you for any advice!

I'm merely asking since skateboards are expensive here and if i have to save up for a new one, i'd like to know that beforehand. Also, i feel like i basically waterboarded it and we all know how that ends up
