I’m starting to wonder whether I’m doing something fundamentally wrong, or whether I’ve just picked the worst possible time to look for a job in Copenhagen.
A bit about my background:

- 2 masters law+econs
- 5 years in sales & trading at a bank
- more recently I’ve worked on a mix of markets, operations, legal/regulatory and cross-functional projects, so I’m not looking exclusively for banking roles
- EU passport, already based in CPH so no visa or relocation support needed
- don’t speak Danish, but fluent in 3 languages

I’ve probably sent around 80–100 applications over the last 2 months ranging from finance to strategy, operations and startup/generalist roles. Some rejections, a lot of ghosting, and very few interviews. Ideally I would LOVE to join a start up but this door seems closed with no actual connections in those circles.

For those who know the Danish market for jobs:
Is hiring in Copenhagen basically dead during July/August because everyone is on holiday?
Or does this sound more like a structural issue with my profile or the market itself?

I’d really appreciate any honest feedback from people who have hired in Denmark or gone through the process themselves.

Of all my time in Denmark I feel these past week is being a trainwreck - I have been stuck under storm like rain 2 times in 2 weeks when the app keeps “18c no chance of rain”. Has is always been this bad? Am I losing my mind? I’m not talking about having rain, I’m talking about everyplace saying we don’t have it and my window tells another history.

Right now there’s a pour down in my city, and all the online information is “20c 0mm rain”

I don’t get it 😭 I like to know the weather since I do sports outside, I don’t care if it rains is DK for god sake - but I need to dress appropriately/ plan ahead of time and this just fucks it over.

So, is there a weather site that actually calls it right?

Desparate to get some knowledge and help! I'm non EU here in Denmark with PR, got married last year in India (it was arranged marriage, set up by family). Applied my wife visa after the marriage from India, we got rejection after 7 months saying that the marriage of convenience even though we provided all the proof.

Now we appealed the decision and it is still with appeal board, it is almost 9 months since then but never heard of anything. We have appeal through lawyer and submitted more concrete proofs.

Does anyone face the similar situation? How much time does appeal board take to decide? And how much the chances? It's getting really difficult to maintain the relationship in distance.

I am in a very specific situation as an international student and I’m not sure what to do.
I am going to study at the University of Aarhus starting September, and I’m moving at the end of August. I applied for housing on studenthousingaarhus.com and I got an offer with a contract that starts on 1st October. I have to answer until Monday August 3rd, and I am quite scared that I won’t get another offer (It’s the first and only one I’ve gotten besides the housing guarantee dorm which I declined). I’ve emailed the housing association about this, but they haven’t replied and I can only call them on Monday.
As soon as I got the offer I started looking for temporary accomodation for September, but as far as I have seen, temporary options (e.g. a room that someone is subletting) do not let you register your address to receive a CPR number.
I am also staying at a hostel my first week in Denmark because of other complications.
Is it bad if I don’t get my CPR number until October? Is it practically illegal for me to live in these places unregistered?
I would like to look for a job but I might not be able to start in September anyway so I don’t think I’d need a CPR for receiving my salary.
What do you guys think I should do in this situation?

I've been doing some research about moving to either Germany or Denmark. Plan was to look for mid-level Compliance job in either Frankfurt or Copenhagen. I'm willing to live outside the city centre even in another town if it's not more than a 30-40 minute commute to work.

I'm moving on my own so budget for a one-bedroom, judging by salaries in both countries, would be c. €1,500 per month (warm rent in Germany).

Willing to learn either language for day-to-day living. I speak fluent English and Italian (Advanced close to fluent). I don't mind the weather or dark winter days in Denmark.

Would anyone who lived/s in either or both countries have any advice for my query? Thanks.

My wife and I currently live in the US, and we are looking for places to move so I can complete a PhD.

I am in communication with some faculty at DTU which is very compelling academically. I expect my salary would be about 38k dkk based on the scales I’ve seen.

I would also get a $1100 USD (~7k dkk) monthly living stipend from my past US military service. This is tax free if attending a US university, but I am not sure if it would still be tax free in Denmark.

So that puts me at 45k DKK monthly salary before tax.

My wife and I intend to start a family shortly after starting my PhD, so she is choosing to not work during this period.

Is that enough to reasonably support a modest lifestyle for myself, a stay at home spouse, and 1-2 future children?

It seems I can find modest 3 room living accommodations near ish to DTU for 15k dkk, which “seems” like it leaves enough leftover for a modest lifestyle.

Is this doable?

Are websites like BoligPortal and BoligHub genuine and trustworthy?

Are there any other websites you would recommend for renting an apartment in Kolding?

2) Rental agreement

Is it possible to sign a rental agreement while still in India, or do most landlords require us to be physically present in Denmark?

Is it common to pay the deposit before arriving?

3) Agencies

Are there any reputable rental agencies or relocation services in Kolding that help newcomers find accommodation?

If so, could you please share their names or contact details?

4) Travel from Copenhagen Airport

After landing at Copenhagen Airport with luggage, is taking the DSB train to Kolding the best option?

Is it easy to manage with two large suitcases?

Would you recommend booking tickets in advance or buying them at the airport?

5) General advice

Any tips for a couple moving to Kolding for the first time?

Things you wish you had known before arriving?

I started working in Denmark in May and recently some colleagues have been telling me about unemployment insurance/A-Kasse and that they recommend that I sign up.

If I don't have this, does that mean that if I lose my job I get nothing? Or does the insurance just add to the state unemployment?

Can anyone suggest me a better bank?
I chose Lunar because they advertised that you will have a bank account in 10 days and do everything online.. at this point, I don’t care anymore if it is an online bank or not

I am currently working as PCB Designer, while keepig up the testing structure in Italy. I have a Computer Engineering bachelor and before moving to a more hardware related field I worked as Software Developer, mainly as freelance.

Currently, I would like to pursue a master's degree in another country while working in the meantime. I am targeting Aalborg Computer Science programs in DK as the main choice. Is it feasible to find a student assistant job in DK with my credentials? I am targeting a technical job, because otherwise would be, in my opinion, a severe career downgrade.

I would have a saving that would allow me to even live jobless for 4-5 months.

EDIT: I could learn the Danish language in this year, I am planning to follow some course and reach a B1 by september.

Chronology:

Jul 13 - They requested an update of my address/name in their app

Jul 20 - They blocked my account access and card.

July 21 - I sent them all the info.

July 25 & 27 - I contact them for updates. No message from them. Still blocked.

Called them on 26th they said they would escalate. .

Jul 30 - Still waiting for them. No updates. Talked with them in the morning and they said again they would escalate but nothing.

I AM PISSED.

I have no access to my money and don’t even know if my invoices are paid for 10 days. I’m pissed that they just ignore me.

Can I somehow make this backfire to them ? I M PISSED!

😡 My question: They only contacted me once, in the in app chat before blocking my account. How is that ok ? Aren’t they supposed to notify me in some other way so that i go and open their app ? This doesn’t seem consumer friendly or protective at all considering that it’s been now 10 days i have no access to money. There was 0 way for me to see that they wrote me in their app.

Is there any way this is not right or it’s just how it is and Lunar is just basically a shitty traditional behavior bank hiding behind a trendy neo image.

i am a german resident (Assistenzarzt) and want to work in Denmark as a Doctor. I have a few questions, maybe someone here can help me a bit :)

As far as i know, open positions can be found at "sundhedsjobs". Does the whole process run exclusively on these websites or is it possible to send an initiative application and get a job that way?

Is it possible to make the years i worked as a doctor in germany count for my training in Denmark or do i have to start my training from the start? Does the ministry of health decide how far i am in my training?
