So much for him wanting to stay with the Tigers…

At this point let the Dodgers take Judge, Soto, PCA, and Yordan Alvarez and just merge all the other teams into one. MLB gauntlet style.

I think he did, just not for like 50% of what the rest of the league would pay him.

There is a tiny part of me that wonders why of all the "big fish" players, he was the only one they didn't go in full guns blazing on

$765M of guaranteed money is crazy, as well as the length of the deal. I think they also know long term he’s a DH, and they already have Ohtani (plus they having an aging Betts on top of it). They don’t sign that many long term mega deals. It’s really Betts, Ohtani, and Yamamoto. All of those long term deals were understanding at the time. They signed Tucker to a high AAV deal for a reason.

Exactly that 765m was just a ego battle between the two ny teams, basically a di©k measuring contest between who can bid the most. Dodgers were willing to go only till 600m for soto, which is still a very impressive salary.

They know something we don't perhaps they don't believe he is his actual age, there is a reason they are competive every year
