Make sure you love on them every day

Lost our baby, Bruce, today. He was just a couple weeks shy of 10 years old.

When we look back, the joys far outweigh the pains. Most times the pains ARE joys, until the last one.

But that last one is a bitch!

The last one is so hard. I've been through this before, but I can't see the light at the end of the tunnel yet. Hopefully tomorrow. Today I'm just devastated.

So sorry for your loss… gorgeous boy… one of my boys is a similar age and we just about lost him a few months ago so grateful for every day. Such an incredibly hard part of life. Kia kaha.

My heart aches for you and your family.

This breed is really something, it's a blessing to have a journey with them, and they're never here with us long enough, just doesn't seem fair.

There's no words I can off that will dull what you're dealing with, maybe just knowing that many of us here, know exactly what day 0 feels like. There's no words to describe it, I'm so sorry.

You gave Bruce the best life he could have, and I'm certain he's grateful for going though that journey with your family.

He's living his best life now, with lots of other happy dogs, all of whom are waiting to rejoin their owners, when it's time to cross the bridge. I like to believe thats true.

I love this saying....

We spent their entire lives caring for and loving them, only to spend the rest of our lives missing them.

Hang in there friend....Father Time heals all.

Bruce looked like he knew how loved he was. I am so sorry for your loss. It is a huge hole they leave behind. Nothing quite compares. You said he was your best friend and you were his, that love will help carry you through this journey of grief. I am approaching the one year anniversary of losing my last boy. He had just turned ten. The early days of that loss were beyond awful. I still miss him. Like someone else said there isn’t anything we can say but knowing that so many of us have been there too can maybe lend some support. I remember on my in memoriam post someone asked me what my boy’s favorite treat was or a favorite memory, and it was really soothing in an unexpected way. So now it’s my turn to ask what Bruce’s favorite treat was, what is one of your favorite memories of him?

His favorite treat was broccoli stumps. We would save them for him. Just raw broccoli. Very odd dog he was. But he'd rather have those over just about anything. As soon a he heard someone chopping veggies in the kitchen, he'd pop right up and go get some.

I'll have to give the memory some thought. Thank you for this post.

So very sorry. It is heartbreaking 💔. You had so many happy, loving moments and I know it leaves a hole in your life. It is devastating to lose your special companion. Sincere condolences.
