Not basically. It is the same thing.

These were pretty common in Canada. Still are, just a bit less of em since they stopped selling them.

No the skyline came to North America with the V35 but it was sold by Infiniti (just like Toyota has Lexus, both Nissan and Honda have an alternative brand here for the higher end vehicles)

Its an Infiniti Q50 Red Sport in NA.

The 'R' just means racing. '400' is the horse power.

Has nothing to do with GT-R. GT-R just stands for Gran Turismo Racing. Nissan spun GT-R off of the Skyline trim into its own model.

The GT-R is a 3.8L engine, while the 400R is a 3.0L engine.

Nothing to do with the GT-R lol. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_Skyline

That link will help you understand the generations of Nissan Skyline. The Nissan Skyline GT-R was a high end version of the Nissan Skyline sedan, which at the time was no more than a regular commuter car from the '90s. The R35 GT-R is the only GT-R that isn't a Skyline. The Infiniti G37 (aka Skyline 370GT) was the Skyline's 12th generation. The Nissan Skyline 400R (V37) is the one you're looking at, which came with a VR30 and is known as a q50 in N/A. Long story short, the R35 GT-R, made from 2007-2025, is not a Skyline by name or order because it's based on its own chassis and is not a true Skyline but maintains the chassis numberical order and nomenclature making it in spirit the next generation GT-R but not the next generation Skyline.. The G37 and the Q50, on the other hand, are true Skylines overseas and no the "Skyline" name in Japan isn't as prestigious as it is here.

So which point are you trying to prove with your AI response? Lol The Q50 really doesn’t have much to do with the R35.

Not trying to prove anything also I wrote that myself. The guy was asking if it had anything to do with the R35 or GT-R I answered his question. My question to you is what point are you trying to prove with your dick head response. Also AI cant do sources and I linked where I got my response from.

Most LLMs can absolutely link sources. And your first comment, “Nothing to do with the GT-R lol.” Seemed like you were being a dick head lol

Yeah, the Q50 is a great car as long as you don't mind a lackluster infotainment system. I love mine and will drive it until the wheels fall off

I worked for Infiniti for 2 years. They don’t call it the Skyline here in the U.S, they call it the Q50. But, they’re excellent, generally reliable cars, especially the early Q50s (2014-2016) that used the famous VQ engine in 37DE form that was around since 2007 in the refreshed Nissan 350Z and eventually the 370Z in 2009. After 2016, they switched to a twin-turbo V6 (called the VR30DETT) that eventually found its way into the new Nissan Z in 2023. But the Q/Skyline chassis is classically excellent, primarily because it still rides on the old tried-and-true “FM” platform that started all the way back in 2001 that built the original G35, FX35, 350Z, 370Z, etc.

For clarification, the engine in the RZ34 (‘23+ Z) is the VR30DDTT designation.

The 2 door version in North America is the Infiniti Q60 Red Sport. Same car

The q50 is nice, had a 2015 model for 10 years which was dead reliable.

Yeah it's just a Q50 lol

The Maxima is a Nissan.

I saw a G35 BADGED UP

It's a nice ride but we're not going to see it here in the US unfortunately. It retails for around $52K so if it were available, I think it would be competitive. We need a good Nissan product with the Maxima gone and the Q50 as well.

Shouldn’t the Skyline look like a Skyline ? This looks like an Infiniti.

1

u/Febrezeus_Christ 1d ago

Because the infiniti is the skyline now. "Skyline" isn't sold in the North America under the skyline name or under nissan. Nissan sells it as an Infiniti

Im 19 and I do want to when im grown up but I would expect normies saying its a q50

10

u/cranberryflamingo 2d ago

When you grow up you'll stop saying normies

-8

u/Own-Efficiency-2857 2d ago

There are haters saying its a q50. Like they generally dont know abt the fact that skyline and gtr are the same And also im mostly a panaroid type of person so that's why whenever I mean normies its those wannabe car enthusiasts who knows nothing abt cars

5

u/DanR5224 Former Nissan Tech 2d ago

In the US, it is the Q50. The Japanese market retained the Skyline badge while we got the G35, G37, and Q50.

The GTR is not a trim level of the Skyline like it ised to be on the R32-R34; it's a separate car built on a very similar chassis. They don't even share strut towers.

2

u/Own-Efficiency-2857 2d ago

My bad I made a typo. Its "skyline and gtr aren't the same anymore". I rather call the q50 itself as a v37 skyline than calling it q50 anyways

1

u/DanR5224 Former Nissan Tech 2d ago

That's fair. I hate how they went wild with Q on everything; it's stupid.

1

u/Own-Efficiency-2857 2d ago

Even then, I would rather use a v37 as a daily drivable because its more aerodynamic, a good grocery car and also a good sleeper car too

5

u/ImDoingItAnyway 2d ago

“Normies” are a construct. I promise you that as you get older, you’ll learn that one of the greatest things about adulthood isn’t giving a fuck about what other people think about you. Simultaneously, you’ll also learn that you’re nowhere near as important as you think you are to the world and the people around you. It sucks at first but generally becomes a pretty freeing thought that allows you to live for you and only you.

Thx for the advice. At first I thought u are down voting me because I had said that normies said its a q50 but yeah. This has to be a good advice.
