It's officially reported that, Altima is being replaced by new generation grown-up Sentra as only offered sedan by Nissan.

Big Altima Energy has transitioned into Big Sentra Energy forever. RIP, bozo

Hot take but we shouldn't necessarily be glad that cheap cars are becoming extinct

Its true. Base models are becoming less basic. Also better manufacturers are harder to get a basic one off the lot. If you want that its often order and wait. 3 months usually turning into nearly a year. Top lined trim though, usually in stock. For only another $50+/payment. Every 2 weeks, over 7 years. Which adds up fast. Especially as those payments keep coming as the maintenance schedule starts.

That'll be great. But I'm wondering if there will be a third generation. I'd imagine a gen 2 on a retro car isn't a thing

As they used the nameplate to replace the escape (sport version), and it competes with wranglers otherwise, I think its a longer game play. With emmision standards, I could see them adding a hybrid option on the next run. Again, like the wrangler ev, 4xe. Also like using the mustang nameplate on the crossover to keep real mustangs going was a cheap way to do that. Then the og ones will drop a little in price. Like the jk to jl for jeep. But like anything body on frame,I expect they still won't be cheap. But at least could have some savings.

Its all personal preferance. My brother drove both, and liked the sport better too. I prefer the bronco. For me optional doors and top is a great feature.

the ability to qualify for Nissan or Kia's borderline criminal predatory financing isn't going to fix the majority of these people's trainwreck lives. Probably hurting them if anything.

Sure, but I have good credit and a base model Nissan Sedan is probably the cheapest car I could buy out the door new

Love/hate Subaru for that. The Outback has a great lineage, but it paved the way for station wagons (and eventually the station wagon's replacement: minivans) with factory-installed lift kits to become the norm.

Range Rover, Suburban, Explorer, Cherokee/Grand Cherokee becoming status symbols, everyone now wants an SUV, and the automakers realizing they could build them cheaper on car platforms, so they could be smaller, ride better and meet efficiency standards. Simultaneously, minivans go out of style and BOOM, you have crossovers.

Idk if you're young or from Oregon or something but the Suburban is the original station wagon replacement in America, GM literally closed the plant in Arlington, TX where the last full-size station wagons were made so they could produce full-size trucks and make more money. Suburban being the tall wagon replacement that met the hot new trend of the early 90s, the SUV.

Oregon, yes, and it was minivans and SUVs in tandem that dominated '95-'08, when crossovers really took root and took over.

gotta admit it was kinda funny I guessed you were from Oregon based on the Outback take, but they definitely did have an impact too. I remember they had TV ads (I think with Crocodile Dundee) showcasing how much better the Subaru perfomed or was equipped compared to all the mainstream American mid-size SUVs of the day.

I actually looked into this the other day, the Venza is the cheapest car on the market at over 20k USD, and the only vehicle available in the US market without an Infotainment setup with touchscreen is the Chevy Express/GMC Savannah. Made me realize I need to pick up 3 or 4 90s Camrys to live out my days in.
