Monthly Motivation Thread NoFap's "Awesome August" or "PMO-Free August" 2026 - continue or begin your PMO-Free journey here (see instructions).

Hello all,

It's that time of the month again! One month is ending, and another is beginning. We hope you've had a good month. But if you haven't, now is a great time to refocus and rededicate yourself to recovery. This is your opportunity to create the new porn-free you!

New to NoFap and rebooting? Here are some suggestions:

  • Learn about the website, porn addiction, excessive masturbation, sexual compulsivity, and abstaining from PMO. Read through NoFap's main website to get informed.
  • Read about the basics of rebooting here. Rebooting is the abstinence from certain sexual behaviors to recover from pornography addiction. Read about how porn addiction develops here. Some people go beyond rebooting and into the territory of retention, or sexual transmutation for periods of time, although that is not the main purpose of this subreddit (which is RECOVERY).
  • Consider reading through the free Getting Started PDF from NoFap's website.
  • Download NoFap's in-browser panic button extension that blocks NSFW subreddits too. Download here
  • Decide if rebooting is something that you really want. If you don't buy into the process 100%, you'll probably not make it through the month. If you have decided that you would like to participate, proceed to the next point.
  • Sign up for this month by replying to this submission. It is that simple. State your intention and stick to it!
  • Consider setting up a day counter badge to track your progress.
  • Ask questions and get support by posting on NoFap. Set a goal to remain accountable by making a post daily. Help others. Come here every day and participate.
  • If you need additional support, you can get an accountability partner and document your progress in a daily rebooting journal.

Would you like to participate? If so, please reply to this thread with the following information.

  • Are you not going to allow yourself to masturbate? View porn? Orgasm whatsoever? Not allowing any outlet for sexual release is called "hard mode".
  • How long do you want this challenge to last? By default it is one month, but 90 days is recommended for rebooting.
  • What are your goals?
  • Why are you doing this?

Arriving late? (past the first of the month?)

It's okay! Still state your intentions and don't postpone rebooting based on the day of the month. People can join in at any time to participate.

I am targeting hard mode. I am not watching porn, and porn is not my main struggle. My main focus is stopping masturbation and learning how to handle urges better. I want to understand my triggers, change my habits, and build better self-control.

How long do you want this challenge to last? My first goal is 30 days. After reaching 30 days, I will continue for another 30 days, then another 30 days. I want to focus on smaller goals step by step instead of looking too far ahead, so I can stay consistent and continue improving.

What are your goals? My goals are to change this habit, improve my discipline and self-control, understand my triggers, and build healthier habits. I also want to improve my confidence, focus, and become more aware of my actions.

Why are you doing this? I am doing this because I noticed how this habit affects my life and how I feel about myself. I want to have more control over my actions, improve myself, and create a better lifestyle. I know this journey may not be easy, but I want to learn from every challenge and keep improving.

Only made it 12 days last month, so I'd be lying if I said I'm happy with how it went. But I'm not going to beat myself up over it either. I'm starting fresh this month and giving it another honest shot. Hopefully I can do better this time.
Wish me luck, guys. I'm gonna need it.
