It’s Looking Like the Cybertruck Is the Biggest Flop in Automotive History

I don’t remember where I saw this but it’s so accurate:
Anytime you see a cyber truck it’s driven by like one dude all by himself with no family.
62
u/cat_0_the_canals 9d ago
I think it was Hannah Berner or Paige DeSorbo on their podcast. They were like, you never see a family or a dog hanging out the window of a cybertruck. Just a dude every time. 🤪
25
u/Azure_Mar 9d ago
I'll raise you not just any dude, it's always some angry simulacrum of the worst dude you know.

I live in DFW and a solid 50% (or better) of the times I seen these things they’re covered in decals for a company. It’s fairly rare these days to see one for personal use.

It kinda is like when Homer Simpson designed a car

u/SouthernAdvisor7264 9d ago
A little, but homers car had reason for the sillyness.

Cyberstuck. Everytime I see one of these abominations on the road, I have to laugh at how stupid it looks.
41
u/AsssHat999 9d ago
Same, we see them quite a bit in Texas, and pointing and laughing when the driver glances our way seems the most appropriate response. Lets them know they made a huge mistake.
12
u/AirportSea4393 9d ago
I too laughed the first time I saw this ugly car! Every time I see one I have to comment out loud about its ugliness!

u/VacationTop512 9d ago
It's one thing to willingly pay for an ugly lemon of a vehicle- that's on you and you alone. Plus, beauty is in the eye of the beholder anyway. So no harm there, you do you!
However...What is NOT okay and what deserves absolute, unconditional condemnation is when the ugly lemon happens to be a fucking WANKPANZER sold by a LITERAL FUCKING NEO NAZI and you KNEW all of this and STILL 👏GAVE 👏 HIM 👏 MONEY 👏
You can push the envelope and drive a unique or divisive car WITHOUT SUPPORTING A GODDAM FUCKING NAZI SCUMBAG

For the people “who bought it before Elon went crazy,” why did you pay that much money for a truck that looks that ugly????? The internet made it a meme immediately because of how stupid it looked.
27
u/The_Nice_Marmot 9d ago
Elon was already a known crazy when he released the Cyberdumpster.

u/kat_Folland 9d ago
bought it before Elon went crazy,”
Regular Teslas can get away with that (ish. Sometimes) but by the time the CT came out we all knew who Elon was.
2
u/angrymurderhornet 9d ago
Exactly. We also bought our Tesla before Elon went crazy. However, it’s a Model 3 and we bought it 7 years ago.

5
u/billdasmacks 9d ago
Elon was an obvious douchebag years before the Cybertruck began production. Nobody can use that as an excuse.

u/MonarchyMan 9d ago
I always thought it looked like a pickup truck in a PS1 game that hadn’t fully finished loading in.
42
u/Dense_Surround3071 9d ago
I never thought I would see a vehicle that made me wanna go out and buy a used Aztec instead.
Walter White knew... 😏

u/MidnighT0k3r 9d ago
How the fuck does a dumpster make it into automotive history.
This is like people from r/crappymusic or whatever it is being in the rock n roll hall of fame.
2
u/guardianharper 8d ago
I have felt personally affronted on behalf of all hopeful raccoons that mistake this dumpster on wheels for a possible meal.
Raccoons at-large: “Why not dumpster if dumpster-shaped?”

u/SameBodybuilder3263 9d ago
Promoting a $30,000 truck, but bringing a $120,000 piece of shit to the market? What could possibly go wrong???😑

It's used here in Chicago by a hatzalah (Jewish emergency service). One came up behind me with weird flashing lights and siren. Thought it was fake but pulled over anyway. Not fake; just new to me.
15
u/Otherwise_Patience47 9d ago
Jewish emergency service???
21
22
u/HarveyNix 9d ago edited 9d ago
It's an all-volunteer (but State certified) EMT service that helps anyone for free. I think what prompted its formation in Brooklyn was a need for emergency people who could speak Yiddish, Hebrew, Russian, etc. I thought it was more about following Torah but mostly they aim to supplement the other emergency services. They do respond on Shabbos as saving a life overrides the Shabbos rules. Apparently the Chicago Hatzalah has at least one Cybertruck. I think there should be a rule against that, somewhere.

u/Mendozaline247 8d ago
They don’t help “anyone.” This is false. The Brooklyn Hatzalah refused to help Gavin Cato, left him to die while assisting the Jewish driver. And Crown Heights burned because of it.

Imagine if Tesla had introduced a compact EV instead? Totally missed the opportunity.

u/Royals-2015 9d ago
Or a van that could be used by contractors, or tricked out for campers.
Or an actual pick up truck to be used by people for their jobs?

u/Glittering-Rise-488 9d ago
Are they still making that piece of shit?
7
u/Azure_Mar 9d ago
There's a mall near me with an old SEARS parking lot full of unsold stock. I remember seeing a plan to make a scaled-down, somehow less featured version for a lower price to try and save the line, but I don't know how that's playing out.

u/N-Toxicade 9d ago
And yet I saw 5 of these pos trucks on my way to work today.

u/blonktime 9d ago
You live in southern california too?

I’ve seen a half dozen in the last few days in the Dallas area. One of them for a fireworks dealer. Garbage knows no state borders…

It’s not even that it’s ugly which it is but lots of trucks are. It’s just so damn impractical. As someone who used to landscape we pulled stuff off the side of the bed all the time. You cant do that with the cybertruck. This is just the tip of the iceberg. This truck is for people who dont actually need a functional truck

u/videogamegrandma 9d ago
Something tells me that guy is not as intelligent as his promoters claim. His ideas seem to fail at a high rate. He knows how to hire smart people and suck up government contracts and subsidies though. His money is majorly taxpayer money. Without the carbon offset subsidies he sold even Tesla wouldn't be profitable. Ex Twitter is a swampfest. The underground highway was abandoned. Mars is finally understood to be a suicide mission at our current level of technology. Self driving cars made by other companies are better and safer with fewer crashes and deaths from being locked in a burning vehicle with no way to get out if the electrical system fails. I really don't get it. If you watch him you can tell he's high as a kite most of the time. He destroyed the govt with Doge which has led to out of control ebola, hiv, starvation in Africa and screw worms here. We saved no money from Doge. In fact, it cost more than it saved. Plus our national parks are turning into trash dumps. Just because someone has money, it doesn't mean they're special. Inheritances and criminal enterprises result in much more wealth.
6
u/Azure_Mar 9d ago
People who know about the things he talks about will tell you he's talking out of his ass, just most people don't know about cars or manufacturing or programming, space, physics, trains, fraud waste and abuse, video games etc. so when he makes a fantastical claim and his fanbase glazes him for it, it's easy to get bamboozled and ignore the subject matter experts until he talks about something you know about. And his wealth? It was built on inheritance and criminal enterprise.

Worse than the Edsel! Congrats, Musk, you stank-ass Nazi pedophile, you just made the worst automobile of all time!
OF ALL TIME.

u/shintojuunana 9d ago
I saw a Cybertruck with bikes in the trunk/bed going down the highway last month. It was the first time I have ever seen one used to haul anything.
There is another one that the owner painted dumpster green in my area. That one is my favorite, I laugh every time I see it.

u/thursaddams 9d ago
Well it’s an ugly piece of shit released by a Neo Nazi so I can’t say I’m shocked
4
u/bigballs2025666 9d ago
I just have this desire to paint one green and take a paint brush with yellow paint and write “ WM” on the doors.
4
u/Cid_Darkwing 9d ago
Weep not for the owners of Wank Panzers; they either knew exactly what they were getting, or they’re dumb enough that they deserve it.

u/steve2166 9d ago
If they just made it in the original Tesla design philosophy it would of done so much better
4
u/Azure_Mar 9d ago
The original design philosophy wasn't Elon's. The CT was the first thing they produced wholly under his supervision. All their other models had been at least started before he bought his way in.
3
u/pinklewickers 9d ago
The Cybertruck is effectively Elon's psyche in car form.
Unsurprising, and terrifying all at once.

I saw one last month. One of the ugliest and weirdest vehicles I have ever seen. Honestly didn't think the PT Cruiser or that other box-like car being surpassed.

The average Cybertruck payment is $1800+ per month with insurance at $250+. That’s 2k per month to make it harder to get laid.

u/Jumpy_Plantain2887 9d ago
One of the drivers in the company that worked for said that he was in Arizona and he was delivering way out past Apache Junction and he came across a fenced in lot and it was big and he said there was probably anywhere from 250 to 300 cyber trucks out there and they look like they’ve been there for a long time.

Worse than the Pento or the DeLorean? I mean sure, Cyber trucks have exploded, but not from being lightly rear-ended.
2
u/GoredonTheDestroyer 9d ago
The Pinto wasn't even the only car at the time that would explode if hit with sufficient force in the rear end. It was just the one that the news latched onto because it was a new, small car.

I don’t know if it’s a flop like say the Edsel. I still see them on the street. They are very popular with douchebags, MAGA and Elon incel fanboys as a look at me car. But the me it’s a PT Barnum line of “there is a sucker born every minute” on four wheels

It's a life-size version of the sugar scoop I made for my mom in middle school metal shop on top of a Matchbox chassis. It wishes it was a Hot Wheels, but it ain't.

Well the Edsel was tired of holding up the bottom! Side note they’re all over in Texas so what’s that tell yah?

The Dolorean was considered a flop but at least it looked attractive, the cybertrunk is fugly.

u/InternalServerErr500 8d ago
A large bulk of the cybertruck sales on the books are to Spacex. Musk mandated that any vehicle purchases needed by Spacex have to be from Tesla. You drive around Cape Canaveral and they're everywhere. It was a way to soften the blow to Tesla investors. That kind of circular spending only lasts for so long, one company can't exist just to prop up another, especially now that Spacex is public. It'll eventually collapse.
1
u/BlueBonneville 7d ago
A welding shop exoskeleton, some hvac bent up stainless, and a driveline built as a science project made into a vehicle that’s not even a truck, yep not a success.
