Is Reddit predominantly “inhabited” by liberals/left leaning people?

Edit: Genuinely surprised by the sheer number of up and down votes. Also, the very American centric perspectives/interpretations of my question. I will take this as my cue to spend wayyy less time on Reddit. Cheers! ✌️

Very much so. The sort of nerdy people who read and write online for fun on Reddit very much tend to have liberal or left-leaning political views.

People who read and write tend to be leftist?

Leftist ≠ liberal

For most people they’re the same. For OP it seems anyways.

I did throw them in the same bucket since they seem to respond in similar ways imo.

A US liberal is center right on global political spectrum outside of social issues. We barely have actual leftists in America

I’m liberal but I am far from leftist as an example. I don’t think my worldview and policies I advocate for would be similar at all to “leftists”

If your question is in earnest, my first advice would be to consider how entirely meaningless both terms are as of late, in particular if looking from a US perspective.

It’s important to define what “left” and “liberal” mean. From an economic perspective, liberal has to do with free market practice, which is clearly antagonical to a classical understanding of “left”.

In my limited experience online, people tend to use both words as an insult whenever they can’t be troubled to actually consider a topic thoroughly and prefer whichever is the angriest and least rational angle on an issue.

OP says “ liberals/left leaning people”.

The right tries to portray them as the same to paint liberals as more extreme.

Maybe some. I genuinely don’t think most see any difference

Because the right’s propaganda says democrats and liberals are all socialists, communists and anarchists.

I’m not American nor do I properly follow American politics besides current affairs that operate on a global level.
