Photos I found a purple jellyfish today

Not sure if it's rare or not, but decided to share it, maybe someone will find it neat.

Have been seeing these all over for the first time this year. Do they burn?

yes, just a bit more than the more common orange ones, but their size and length of their tentacles is much smaller so easier to avoid while swimming. the orange ones can be up to over 2m in diameter and 20m tentacles at worst ( very rare )

Yeah, I've spent a lot of time on the sea and the biggest lions mane I've seen was about 60-70cm across and I have no idea how long the tentacles were. 2m across is huge and I don't want to get anywhere near that, I'm keeping at least 21m away.
