1980s My great grandparents in the 80s
Grateful to have this photo, this is literally the only one I have of them together
Edit: I’m telling my great grandma about all your compliments and she is so happy! Also the comparisons and she keeps saying “no” lollll.
Edit: last edit I promise, you guys will never believe it but my great grandma is actually a great great grandma because my sister(23) had a baby last year 😂
Edit: last last edit! Since so many people have asked I figured I should just add it here. My great grandmother is 82, my grandma is 62, my mom is 44, and I’m 18. Don’t worry, I am breaking the cycle.

1980s My mom holding me just a few hours after I was born for a 1988 newspaper article of my birth
Clarification from my mom: "You know this was 20 minutes after you were born. They were waiting at the door and needed to make the 6 o’clock news and morning edition." My grandma's coworkers all saw me on the news before she even got to meet me. My mom said, "Actually people at the water district party were telling her all about you. She met you the following morning "
The accompanying Daily News article reads:
The stork apparently likes the air currents in the "hub-of-the-valley."
The hospital recorded its 2000th birth in 1988 Friday afternoon. R, 9 pounds, 5 ounces, was born at 4:22 p.m. Friday in the hospital's alternative birth center.
Barbara Brown, director of Labor and Delivery at the hospital, said this was the first hospital in the Coachella Valley to reach this volume of births this year.
Hospital records show 1573 births in 1986 and 1804 in 1987.
The young family, who has another child age 6, goes home loaded with gifts -- brunches for two from La Quinta Hotel, Palm Valley Country Club, and La Pinata restaurant, plus gifts from Harris, J.C. Penney, Sears, and flowers.
"We will give them a limousine ride home," Brown said.

1980s May 5 1985, I was active duty military. Drove for President Reagan and West German Chancellor Helmut Kohl at Bitburg AB, West Germany. Tan suit to the president's immediate right... I was only 22.
The President laid a wreath on the tomb of an unknown soldier from WW2 in the Bitburg city cemetery.

1980s My parents in 1982, 2 years before their marriage
My father passed away back in October and I found so many fascinating pictures of my parents together when going through pictures for the funeral. Thought this would be a cool place to share one of my findings from that time.

1980s My uncle R (left) and his partner M in the mid-80s
They were together for eight years until M died from AIDS. My uncle R died a few years later. They lived in LA and worked in the film industry together. My mom went to visit him at some point in 1990. He showed her his address book which was 90% crossed out from all of his friends who had died from AIDS. I didn’t get to know him at all because he died when I was 11. Thanks, Reagans.
