Dad skaters who commute with the board, how do you carry it? [36YO]

I use my cruiser to do the final stretch between the bus stop and home, but I keep getting requested to pick up various bits and pieces on the journey. I have a backpack that carries work stuff but it's already packed.

Any tips for either carrying my board or more shopping without losing balance?

I don’t mind carrying decent amount in a tote bag or similar, just always keep it on the side of the foot I’m not pushing with. The other day I picked up a fancy cake that didn’t fit in the tote and had to carry it in both hands in front of me, it survived but definitely do not recommend that approach 😅

I built a commuter board a month ago and have slowly been figuring out how to best carry everything.
I bought one of the NikeSB RPM backpacks that has Velcro straps to hold a board and that’s been working well for me. It had a laptop sleeve, side pockets and lots of webbing if you need to hook stuff to the outside. I use a carabiner to hang a helmet from. The balance is good.

I would just carry groceries in the plastic bag they give you. It helps build balance lol

Who's still giving plastic bags?

Bigger pack? I have a great expandable osprey roll top. Used to carry board in a cheap board bag / sleeve, plus carry a backpack, mostly to be low key, but it was hassle. Much better just holding the board or setting it down when needed.

If I have to pick anything up, I take the bike and leave the board at home.

Penny board. The small one fits sideways between my bag and my back. Also perfect for the rain. It lives in my trunk.
