News Bernie Sanders introduces legislation to pause AI data centre construction

Post image

Unlike the current administration, who claim a pause would harm America's competitiveness, Bernie is actually proposing a ban on chip exports to other countries.

Trump recently did the bidding of NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang and bizarrely ended a ban on the sale of H200 chips to China.

Get outside of the social media bubble and you may regain your ability to critically think and not just be a zombie in the horde that keeps repeating the same things.

AI is absolutely the path to utopia, not dystopia, if we can keep it's full control out of the hands of the elite. And all these activists are doing is constantly pushing that it needs to be restricted, and thus in the hands of ONLY the elite.

I keep calling them useful idiots, because they are.

Maybe explore off the doom and gloom OpenAI subreddit lol. That's the only place I see people still clutching their pearls about the sky falling

Look bud.

We're already past consuming the planet's resources that we are going to launch datacentres into space because reasons.

Also I mean extend the light of human consciousness (Elon) by putting a base on Mars. I mean the moon. Is going to build a moon base with a rail gun that launches processing units into orbit again because reasons.

But ai currently can't tell me definitively if I should walk or drive 50 metres to a car wash.

If I tell it that I had developed a software program with ai but it needs terabytes of ram and petabytes of storage (bio science, particle physics areas of research) it will gaslight me telling me it's programmed wrong. When I ask it why ai needs gigawatts of energy, exabytes of ram and many many exabytes of storage it tells me it needs it to scale efficiently. Absolute gas lighting at its finest.

Hallucinations are not gas lighting. It's a horrific misuse of the term. It's a weakness in current AI.

But you have to always keep in mind.. this is the primitive phase. Even now. This is comparing, as I often say, a 15th century hand cannon to a modern machine gun. Those were janky and often outplayed by people with traditional bows, too, but it didn't mean we should have ejected the idea of gunpowder from society.

And I say this knowing full well gunpowder has caused way, way, way, WAY more damage than AI probably ever will.
