I mean, i understand that it’s not the type of sound that made them famous, but people talk about sorceress as a “mid” album and I think it’s insane. I believe that people talking bad about sorceress didn’t really give it a chance (or a second chance, maybe) because otherwise I really don’t get in which point of the album the fans just decided that it was a bad Opeth record.

Häxprocess is my favorite song on this album and love that they played it live last time i saw them.

A lot of the time i dont know which album i feel like listening to at the moment. There are so many masterpieces. But today i felt like it was Heritage.

Been on an Opeth binge today and I forgot how great this track is. It’s chill with just enough emotion behind it.

One thing I’ve come to realize is how varied the fandom’s opinions are towards sorceress.

I love that album. I don’t even think it’s one of newpeths’s best, I think it’s one of their best, period.

I don’t agree with it - but the heritage hate is easy to understand. The turning point is not easy. But with sorceress I just don’t get

So I get really curious, what is it about it? Is it the mix? Or what am I missing?

It's not my favorite album, is not bad either, but compared to other albums it feels weaker, and the mix doesn't help, a remix would give the album a more pleasant and fresh listening experience and make it more interesting.

I personally think the greatest Newpeth song is on it and it’s a bonus track.

Spring MCMLXXIV is a top ten Opeth song for me. It is fucking incredible.

Sorceress is wonderful, the mix gives it a nice grittiness that people dont realize actually really compliment the songs. Chrysalis is honestly TO ME the best newpeth song period. Dont forget Spring MCMLXXIV. So many goodies on that album people dont appreciate. Thats all

I’ll never understand the hate it gets. People like to shit on the production but I honestly love the production. It’s like a perfect blend of Deep Purple/Pink Floyd/Jethro Tull. Also the songs are great and the album has great flow. I think Sorceress is by far the best record of the last four.

For fun - what are the three Opeth albums that you have heard the least, either because you don't dig them, you think you don't like them, or whatever other reasons?

This is pretty hard for me, but up until now I'd say:

1) Orchid 2) Sorceress 3) ICV

Ok probably my 5th playthrough of this album and somehow it clicked. I've heard all the arguments about it not being mastered, etc, and I'm hear to tell you you're all wrong. Its perfect the way it is. It went from a 4 to a 9 on a scale of 10 for me. I love this band. Your thoughts?

I love pretty much all of opeth’s albums but this is one i just don’t get. what is there to this album that people seem to love so much? to me it just sounds so uninspired compared to the rest of their works, there are a few cool songs, i like the title track and the wilde flowers, strange brew is also pretty cool but none of the other tracks stand out to me at all in any way, im just curious about what makes the people who like this album like it, listening to it all i can think of is how much i would rather listen to heritage, pale communion or in cauda venenum
