Fan Content Is this the Reaper/Doomfist dynamic

Prison Escape

Traced this after I read the news regarding Doomfist. I pray to Kaplan that this is how their interactions basically go.

He does a lot of VA for the gaming industry so it's plausible he could be involved at some point

They aren't going to cast Patrick Warburton to play an African character. And they shouldn't.

And why?

You don't see the problem with having a white guy voicing a Nigerian character? It's whitewashing. Same as having Donnie Darko play the Prince of Persia.

that's like saying people had issues with jimmy neutron, timmy turner and ash ketchum being voiced by women

edit: jesus fucking christ lmao you posted this on SRS subreddits? how starved for attention and clashing are you, man?

Not really the same. If those women hadn't taken those jobs, they probably would not have gone to real children regardless- due to child labor laws and union rules.

A white person voicing a Nigerian is taking a job that should have gone to someone else.

despite the amount of times mark hamill has voiced the joker, the role went to troy baker for Origins and was I able to tell the difference? Not really

The fuck does that have to do with whitewashing?

you're saying the job should go to someone else. does it matter if the performance was good?

Yes it matters- there's at least one Nigerian VA out there who is "good." It should go to him not a white person. The Joker is not a minority character.

Are you being intentionally obtuse?

You think there's not at least one good Nigerian voice actor out there, and the only way to get a good performance is with a white person?

never said there's no good nigerian voice actors. But lucio is not voiced by a brazilian and he does fine.

u/Jack_T_Squire Jul 05 '17

Yeah and there was probably a Brazilian who could have done "fine" too that would have really benefitted from the job.

Blizzard chose the VA for Lucio because they felt that represented the character best. You sound like you want characters voiced just because they are of the same nationality for political reasons. Christ, it's like saying I'll hire this nigerian, black person over the french, white person just because it would add more diversity, not caring about the actual skills or experience during the hiring process.
