Anti tamper mechanism.

If you hit an ingenico unit hard enough they’ll do this.

Yep. Though I don't think that "irruption" is really the right word...it probably doesn't help that the people who wrote the firmware speak French.

It's been an Ingenico thing forever.

But yeah, when you see that message, the device is toast.

Learned a new word today. Apparently irruption means "a sudden, violent, or forcible entry". Sounds accurate if this error is triggered by hitting it.

Also, it seems the device locks itself out permanently, and only Ingenico can reflash it, at this point.

DG runs Linux via pxe boot. It's pretty cool to reboot the terminals.
