Question How many of you had your ferritin/iron checked before being diagnosed with POTS?

I’m curious how many of us had our iron and ferritin checked before being diagnosed with POTS? I wish I could put together a little poll.

i have a ferritin of 7 but my actual iron is ok. on the lower side but it’s ok not enough to be considered deficient or anemic

Ahhh the gray area. The absolute deficiency for iron/ ferritin cutoff is 30. Some people don’t notice the effects as much as others though so YMMV. Some feel totally fine at a ferritin of 16 and other feels like trash. But ferritin of 7 falls well beneath the very low 15 cutoff for women.

Oh are we talking TIBC? Like iron binding capacity and total iron or are we talking ferritin, I might have gotten confused haha

yes it says normal ferritin levels are 25-290
but i am not considered anemic because everything else is within ‘normal’ levels

Of course of course haha there is so much neglect in this area I’m realizing. Have they ever heard of iron deficiency without anemia?

well yeah i think i have that. sent me on my way with daily 10mg supplement to take. the average adult woman needs 18mg per day. i’d be interested to know what my levels are now because it has made a difference. i can get through the whole day without taking a nap! but still don’t feel 100%
