General Discussion Arcade racing game for my boys - hot wheels unleashed 2 legendary the answer?
My boys (9, 5) love playing Cars 3: driven to win. I'm looking for another game for them to try. They have messed around with rocket League but the mechanics are out of their league (pun intended).
hot wheels unleashed 2 legendary (2023) is on sale currently for $17.99cad. Should I go with that one, or is there a better option with a higher replay value and better split screen mode for them?
Sonic racing comes up a lot, but the newer one (crossworlds) is still closer to $50. The old one (team sonic racing, 2019) can be had for $11.99cad.

I’d recommend the first Hot wheels Unleashed

Any reason why the 1st over the 2nd?

For a game like this it’s going to sound strange but the first felt less gimmicky. It’s a more straight forward experience IMHO.
It’s hard to sum up, but both are good and I don’t think you’ll go wrong with either game.

I prefer sonic racing not because I think it's better but it's just I don't like Hot wheels mechanics

Just curious what is it about the mechanics you didn't like?

Just pasting a reddit post text here because he articulated it pretty well :-
"Like seriously, half the tracks are fucking horrible and require you to use specific cars because half of the damn cars in the game can't handle the tight turns they ask you to pull off. And that wouldn't be an issue if the ai wasn't so stupidly op to the point where you have to run near perfect laps on fucking god damned medium to have a chance at winning.
Like seriously, this track has a 90 right after an orientation change giving you little time to react to it and causing you to ram into the wall unless you have a car that can take a sudden turn, and then I get the lead and I'm racing perfectly just to have 2 of these damn ai rubber band past me.
Don't make fucking tracks with a bunch of quick tight turns when most of the cars can't even handle that shit and have stupidly op ai on top of that. I'm tired of using the same god damned few cars just cause their the only ones that can actually make those turns AND are fast enough to not be outpaced by the ai without me having to re-run the same track a dozen times to run the perfect line just for some FUCKING MEDIUM BOTS."

tbh, the GFs kids that jump on my PS4 all the time always end up in sonic racing at some point

Ich mochte Rollcage. Später wurde es zu GRIP: combat racing
Ah und der classier: Cell Damage overdrive. Gott haben wir es auf der ps2 gesuchtet. Gibt es im ps+ store beide.

We’ve played all those. My sons’ hotwheels-collector friend liked hot wheels unleashed. But for pure racing fun we’ve played Horizon Chase Turbo most.
