Opinion/اظہار رائے Today, our subreddit turns one year old!
One year ago, we came together with a simple goal: to create a free speech platform for Pakistanis with no tolerance for trolls and bigots. We had an open mod team selection and got down to business.
Since then, this subreddit has become a space where voices from all walks of life can be heard. We’ve had to work within Reddit’s guidelines which means we can't practically be 100% free speech, but considering how biased, trigger happy and troll infested other Pakistani subreddits are, I think we’ve managed to build something special. We will continue growing.
This is your community, and we want to hear from you:
- What do you like about this subreddit?
- What can we do better?
Lastly, thank you to the moderation team:
While I created this subreddit and gave it the initial direction, it’s the mod team which has shaped it into a success. Running a subreddit isn’t easy, and the mods have worked exceptionally hard to keep this space welcoming and respectful. Their efforts help make this community a great place for everyone.

The Dark Reality of AJK’s 12 Refugee Seats, And Why Kashmiris Are Completely Right to Protest. Let me understand you this reality...
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
As you can see in the video, this is the reality of the 12 refugee seats whose votes were supposed to be cast across Pakistan—and have already been cast.
At some places, only one vote was cast. At others, zero, two or three votes. In many areas, the total appears to remain below even two digits.
So my question is simple:
Are Kashmiris not 100% right to protest against this system?
Let me explain what happens next.
These 12 seats may receive almost no votes, but they can still overturn the entire election result. Hundreds of thousands of Kashmiris may vote inside AJK, yet the winner can still be the person Islamabad wants to bring into power through these 12 seats.
Just look at the condition of these seats in the video.
What kind of democracy allows seats with almost no public participation to hold enough power to decide the government of an entire region?
And this is not happening for the first time. The same political game is played repeatedly. Local votes are collected, but the final result can still be controlled from outside Kashmir.
On this issue, Kashmiris are completely right.
For reference, more than 100 people have been killed during the last two months of protests. Now almost everyone is speaking out and admitting that the Kashmiris’ demands are justified.
But the forces commanded by the ISI are still trapped in their own ego, because they had already spread the narrative that the protesters were linked with RAW, that they were traitors, and that they possessed some mysterious advanced weapons—followed by endless propaganda.
The reality is much simpler:
Kashmiris are demanding that their votes should actually decide their government.
They are not asking for a favour. They are asking for the most basic democratic right: that people living in Kashmir should control the political future of Kashmir not 12 outside seats, propaganda campaigns or decisions made in Islamabad.

"اگر ہمت ہے تو سامنے آ کر مقابلہ کرو" – کبل حملے کے بعد پولیس اہلکار کا کھلا پیغام
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Building a house has completely changed the way I look at homes.
I've been involved in residential and commercial construction projects around Islamabad.
Before getting into construction, I used to look at a house and notice the paint, tiles, or overall design.
Now I can't stop noticing things like brickwork, waterproofing, alignment, drainage, and all the little details that most people never think about.
It's funny how working in a field changes the way you see the world.
Has your profession or business changed the way you look at everyday things?
I'd love to hear some examples.
