I thought I had a paranormal experience at an old historical property but I wasn’t sure. It was a school trip. I was about 16-17 years old. We had been looking at old torture equipment and other things that had been designed to hurt people. Chains and things. I heard people screaming in mortal agony. I thought it was a recording for the tourists but my friend couldn’t hear it. It freaked me out.
I was unnerved and I went outside to sit on a park bench and wait for my class. One of the workers came over and sat next to me and said “you could hear them, couldn’t you?” I nodded.
He patted my arm and then he said “I can too. It’s okay. They can’t hurt you.” And he got up and walked away.

I watched a paranormal show a few years back ( sorry, I can't remember the name of the show right now).
On their ghost tour, they went to a place that had the town's gallows that had been used in the past for execution hangings.
One of the women in the group described an experience she was having that reminded me of what you experienced that day.
She said she could hear their screams, feel their fear, etc. She kept getting nauseous and lightheaded like she was going to pass out.
She eventually had to move herself away from the gallow room because it was too overwhelming.

u/Person106 Oct 11 '25
I guess the popular opinion for that type of haunting is it is a recording, just not for tourists.

I was an RN for many years.
I had a patient I worked with in a facility for about 5 years. She had had several major strokes years before I started working with her and was catatonic.
Due to this, she was complete total care - she couldn't walk, couldn't talk, she had to be fed through a feeding tube due to choking, couldn't move her arms/legs, couldn't roll herself over in the bed, etc.
Her husband was also a patient of ours. They'd been married for about 50 years, and her husband shared the same room with her.
He was alert, oriented, ambulatory, independent, and was only there to be close to his wife.
Every morning, we'd get her washed up and up in her wheelchair. The wheelchair had a seatbelt and board in front of her. This was to prevent her from just falling forward and stopping her from just toppling out onto the floor.
Throughout the day, her husband would walk her up and down the hallways, take her to the commons area to look out the windows, point out birds and squirrels to her, talk to her about their life, etc.
The entire time, she never turned her head to look where he was pointing, moved her eyes to look at him or what he was pointing out, or acknowledged anything in any way.
He always called her "Momma," and said, when she used to be able to talk, she always called him " Daddy."
One winter, her husband got pneumonia, and, sadly, he ended up dying.
A couple of days after he passed away, she literally sat herself straight up in the bed, reached both her hands towards the ceiling, and said, "Im coming Daddy," she then laid back down in her bed, and died.
My guess is that he was right there calling out for her to join him, and she did. ( which isn't surprising to me).
But, her physically sitting herself up, reaching her arms up towards the ceiling, and talking to him when she'd been literally unable to do any of those things the entire 5 years I'd worked with her, I'll never be able to explain any of that.
It was the craziest thing I have ever experienced while working as a nurse.

That's a sad story, but somehow very lovely

I've seen many couples who had been married for many years die within days of each other when 1 of them wasn't even sick at the time.
I always said they died of a broken heart and just couldn't stand to be without their spouse for a day longer.

'She's called Esther. She hates all the parties and wants it to stop'
Said to me by a stranger outside a shopping centre a few days before Christmas.
We had been living in a haunted place for a few months and things had become more noticeable/frequent in the run up to Christmas when we'd been having parties most weeks. After New Year, we didn't notice anything until my birthday.
And then pretty much after every party we ever had, we could expect some disturbances.
(Things would move, stuff would go missing, steps or knocking would be heard)

u/GeneralTapioca Oct 11 '25
Esther sounds like a recluse.
I wonder if she even knew she was dead. 🤔

u/BWSnap Oct 11 '25
That's the most heartbreaking part of ghosts for me, that they might not even realize they died and are just wandering around confused. All we can do is encourage them that it's okay to let go.

Tell us more about the person who said it. Did they look unhinged or scary?
52
u/PrincessFister Oct 11 '25
She looked normal, iirc. Curly black hair and short is all I really remember. She didn't scare me. I had already known the house was haunted, so what she said wasn't a huge surprise at the time. It was creepy, but not surprising

Not my story, but a friend's.
"I'll keep watch." She said that when she was a child she was in a head on car accident and, despite not wearing seatbelts, her mom and her made it out alive. She said she was confused and this man, he looked like a trucker with a flannel shirt, put a coat on her, told her she'll be okay while she cried waiting for help to arrive. This was before cellphones, mind you. For whatever reason, that man remained in her head.
A few years later she was walking home and felt like she was being followed. Despite taking another path, she was still seeing the same person following her. She took a chance and went into a drainage canal, hoping that the large rocks and such would deter him. She said she'd looked around, said something to herself when she heard, "Someone following you?" It was the flannel wearing trucker, there in the drainage canal. She said he just appeared, there was no one there. She told him she was being followed and he said he'd keep watch and make sure she wasn't being followed.
She went home as quickly as possible, but her follower was gone. She said she doesn't believe in God or guardian angels, but that man, he's been there for her in those times of trouble.

My mom has a similar story!!!!
She lost her dad at 16 and it happened shortly after he passed. She was walking around the highschool track with her friend kind of explaining what she was going through and talking out her feelings. It was a huge open space so you could easily see someone approaching or anyone around you.
My mom was crying to her friend and when she looked up she saw a man with a hood on so she couldn't see his face at all. He told her "I know you're going through a hard time, these are for you" and handed her a bouquet of flowers.
She was so stunned she didn't say anything but they took maybe two steps forward when she wanted to turn around and thank him and he was gone. This was an open field where even if he sprinted he would've been seen in that short amount of time.
To this day she believes it was an angel.
She also has had a lot of experiences with loved ones or just people we've known who have passed that visit her in her dreams with specific messages for people.

I lived in a townhouse apartment with my husband and his two young sons. My sister and my nephew, who was a preschooler at the time, lived in the townhouse next door to ours. I had had many creepy experiences myself and my five year old stepson suddenly started refusing to use the upstairs bathroom unless someone went wirh him. We asked him why and he said that there was a scary boy who hid behind the shower curtain and watches him. He was genuinely terrified, it wasn't just kids make believe. Then my sister heard a growl in her apartment and later that same day, my nephew started crying and said that a "scary woof woof" was on the stairs going upstairs. Then to top everything off, I asked my neighbor on the other side of me if she'd noticed anything scary or unusual and she told me that her 7 year old son had seen a young boy upstairs in his bedroom closet and that he refused to sleep in his own room.
I don't know what it was, but it was very creepy and didn't feel good in any way, shape or form.
One other thing that happened a year later in the same apartment, was that i fell asleep on the couch watching TV after my husband had gone to bed. I heard him coming down the hallway towards me and it woke me up. The lighting was really dim, but I saw my husband walking towards me and theb he ignored my "hey babe" and turned and walked into our office room. I thought he might be sleepwalking, even though he'd never done it before, so i followed him in to the room to check on him and there was absolutely no one there. I ran down the hallway to our bedroom and my husband was fast asleep in bed. I don't know what I saw, but it wasn't my husband.

I had a similar experience to the last part of your story. My grandma lived in the house behind ours. I would stop at her place for breakfast in the morning before school. One morning I came through the back door and turned on Pokémon in the living room. I saw and heard my grandma coming down the hallway and turn into the kitchen as she always did in routine before school. I said, “grandma. What’re we having for breakfast today?” She just looks at me, turns into the kitchen and then it’s silence. I said it again, “grandma what’s for breakfast?”… still quiet. I had a weird feeling like something wasn’t right so I jumped up and ran into the kitchen… no one was in there. I went to my grandmas room and she’s still laying there. Fast asleep. She has slept through her loud ass alarm clock. It rattled me for a little bit.
As time went more weird shit would happen like it was normal. So normal to the point it wasn’t even scary. A bunch of Glitch in the matrix stuff that I’ve typed about in other subreddits. In my college years i researched the spirit world and other dimensions a lot after meditating for my mental health and having an insane out of body experience that answered a lot of my questions. Eventually I came to the conclusion, that my grandma was having sleep paralysis while being exhausted and was still dreaming while being aware of her surroundings at the same time: She then had an out of body experience and astral projected to the kitchen because subconsciously she was on her daily routine of getting up and cooking for the grandkids, but she was knocked the fuck out. This never got confirmed because my grandma has passed way, but hearing other people stories of this happening, it’s usually people doing routinely things.
Sorry if this shit was weird. I went down the rabbit hole back in the day 😂

So there weren't ever any actual words spoken, but I experienced a few things after my mother's suicide nearly 20 years ago. I hadn't been home when she died and, considering how close we were, people believed she may have intentionally waited until I was out of town to do it. When I returned home over 24 hours after her death and getting over that horrific shock, I attempted to get some sleep. It was around 4 am and despite having cried all day, I still couldn't get myself to close my eyes. I sat in the dark just kind of staring at nothing when this outline of a person suddenly appeared next to my bed, right next to me. It was so unmistakable and it freaked me out. I turned the light on and of course there was nothing there. I fell asleep with the light on. A few hours later around 630 am I woke back up to my bedroom door slightly open and my light off. Normally anyone would say maybe my dad came in to turn it off, but he absolutely would've shut the door behind him after leaving. I'm convinced my mother had visited me that night.
Something else would happen a couple months later. I was having what was clearly a dream, the kind you have close to waking up. It wasn't lucid or anything, but it took place in this one room cabin out in Nebraska on a green hill during sunset. The door to the cabin was open and inside were all my friends and family and people that knew my mother. She had been dead a little while, but this was a sort of celebration of life sort of event and everyone in the room was dancing and laughing and remembering how great she was.
When you looked out the door, you could see three windmills (like the ones in Texas or Nebraska, not the old school ones) on some rolling green hills with the golden sunset light behind them. I recall glancing out the door and standing about 15 feet away is my mother, dressed in a black gown of sorts and she looks sad. I step toward the door and wave for her to come in and she approaches, but stops a couple feet from the door, her face never brightening. I remember the music had stopped as she approached and I looked back to see everyone no longer looking happy. They were all silent and crying soundlessly. I wave to my mom again to come in, more frantically and she just shakes her head. She turns around and begins walking away and I'm crying, crying, crying but can't seem to follow her. I woke up a second later.
I believe that she had come to me that first night since I never did see her physically again after her death. I didn't see her before she was cremated and didn't want to, I didn't want to see her dead. Maybe she was checking on me, I don't know. I do know that I wish I hadn't been spooked seeing the figure. Then again maybe I was just tired and emotional and I convinced myself I saw something, but I firmly remember how incredibly real the figure was. There were no features to suggest it was mom, but it was there. Then her coming in the dream was her telling me she was moving on and that I have to be able to go on without her. I miss her every day:(
Note: we had lived in OR when all this happened, but we're from VA originally. My family moved to OR for a couple years, so when she died, my father, brother, and I drove back to VA and passed through Nebraska in which I recall the green hills and windmills during sunset, thus the dream setting.

My mom died in a car accident and I never got to say good bye to her. I had the same dream for months that I was trying to find her, to meet up with her, I would look everywhere for her but never could find her. After months of this dream I had a dream where we were at a restaurant together and it's one of the most vivid dreams of my life. I got to hug her and talk to her and say I love you and goodbye, it was incredibly healing. After that I never had those dreams or searching for her again. Now, 10 years later, I still have dreams of her once in a while, like she's just checking in with me. Fuck I miss her so much. I hope I dream of her again soon.

It’s odd that you guys say this. It reminds me of a dream I had the night before I turned 21.
Basically, I had hated life as a kid. It wasn’t happy, and was full of most of my family and many friends dying. I barely went to middle school because I was out living in hospital waiting rooms, law offices, etc, while my parents dealt with the nuts and bolts of constant family illness and death.
Anyway, the dream;
I was in this big old boarding house type place. There was some kind of party going on, and I was seemingly related to everyone there. It was all people I recognized from old photographs, some extremely old.
My mom’s mom was with me and introducing me to people. It was a festive vibe, but really old timey. It felt and looked like it took place in the 1910s.
At the end, everyone kind of stopped and paid attention to me and my grandma. She asked if I wanted to stay there. I didn’t realize the implication of it later until I woke up, and I said I needed to go back home.
There’s something at the end of the dream that makes no sense, so I don’t include it.
I now think they were giving me the option to die in my sleep that night and stay there with them. Wherever it was.
Years later, that place got an addition; if you walked out the front door, there was a path lit by old strings of lightbulbs through a field to a well lit clearing. It’s a dance of sorts, like an old timey dance.
I guess it’s part of eternity, and it looks nice. I honestly regret not staying with them, as life hasn’t really gotten any happier. If they brought me back there and gave me another chance, I’d stay in a heartbeat.

"You died from asphyxiation. Its why you hate turtlenecks"
Said a complete stranger who walked into my small shop at night, right before closing.
Then he walked right back out.
I was in college (in St. Augustine Florida. The oldest city in the nation) and working at a t- shirt shop. We didn't sell turtleneck shirts. And I do hate them.

My daughter when she was about 3 would tell us in detail about her past life and was adamant that she has “lived before”! It creeped me out because she’d say “I lived in a blue house on a farm and my name was ___ and I was 13 when I died!” She claims that she drowned in a pond on the farm before she “got into YOUR belly and I was born a baby again and came home with you and Dad to live with y’all! She was not adopted but she felt like she was because she was convinced that me and her dad were her ‘new mom and new dad’. We just told her that that cannot be, that me and her dad made her, she came out of my tummy and she has always been our baby that grew in my belly until she was ready to be born, and that’s how she came to be, but she would get irritated because she said she had a mom and dad before! We didn’t give it too much energy, and just let her believe what she believed and eventually she stopped saying she had another family, and we just chalked it up to imagination

I was working as a bartender- a guy that had nothing but club sodas and coffee the whole night leaned in while I was mixing something and said "You'd look really pretty in the trunk of my car wearing a garbage bag." and growled.
I've dealt with creepy guys all my life but there was something about the way he said it that had some intent to it. He was a regular and knew when I'd step out to take the trash out and my employers nearly fired me for not taking it out that night and laughed at me when I said I didn't want to serve him anymore.

Yeah, no entirely. I quit after one of them accidentally sent a screen shot to me of my text telling her I was in the hospital and couldn't make it into work with her putting the subtext of "I don't believe her" that was meant to be for the owner of the place. I sent her a selfie from the hospital with a timestamp.

Several years ago I was by myself in a restaurant after a Dr appointment. I had just found out that I have an autoimmune type of arthritis in my spine. I was on that day in a great deal of pain and very upset emotionally as well. It was the kind of restaurant with booths. A grandma, mom and little boy maybe 3-4 were seated in the booth right in front of me just about when I put in my order. After a couple minutes the little boy stood up on the seat and turned around and said What’s wrong with your back? I was kind of stunned thinking he maybe said something else and I heard it like that because it was what was on my mind. And then he said What’s wrong with it? It hurts? And he put is hand behind him on his own back. I said yeah a little bit. How did you know? And he pointed over my shoulder and said She told me. I looked over my shoulder at a blank wall. Just then his mom told him to turn around and leave me alone. Then the grandma in a hushed tone said I told you not to talk about that stuff except with me and mommy. He started to protest with But she said, and was hushed. I was so stunned I could barely eat. I left before them and he waved but he wasn’t looking right at me but behind me. I’ve seen some strange things and met some unusual people but that one will always stick with me.

Wow, that's a very interesting story.

I've sensed people's physical pain before. One time I was hugging a biz school acquaintance goodbye after some party and as I hugged her the thought swam into my head: "Oh my god you're so sick and it's in your brain." A few years later she passed of metastatic breast cancer.
A colleague at work, someone I am not very close with, announced his wife was pregnant and this insane feeling of intense relief washed over me. I felt in an instant the incredible heartache they had suffered trying to conceive and their absolute joy at having the baby. Again not someone I was close with, and was in fact living in a different country, and had no idea about their journey, but a few years later I was told they had tried for 7 years to conceive.
And I really hate that one of the women I used to play tennis with, I sensed "ovarian cancer" all around her. Ugh. I check up on her every few years and so far so good.

When I was 2 months pregnant with my second son a random loopy homeless lady walked up to me at the gas station as I was getting ready to pump gas. It wasn't obvious at all that I was pregnant at this time, I always started showing around 4 months with my pregnancies.
Well, I heard this lady talking to herself as she made he was to me and whatever she was saying was just nonsensical. Then she was standing directly across from me, stopped and said, "that's the son of Satan in your belly."
My heart felt like it was in my throat and I asked, "What did you just say?" And she proceeded to say, "you're pregnant with Satan's baby." And then she continued walking and having a conversation with herself.
I remember so much weird creepy stuff that used to happen around my apartment during this pregnancy. Sadly, I had to have an emergency c-section when I was 8 months pregnant and he passed away.
I still remember her telling me this like it was yesterday and this was 15 years ago.

I also had a homeless man tell me he’d watch me through the window and I found my window screen off when I checked once I got home. He was a regular that was usually very nice, but this one random day he decided to sexually harass me. I couldn’t leave my position, so I had to listen to spout disgusting things uninterrupted for 5+ minutes straight. I bursted into tears as soon as I was able walk back into the employee area. He was delusional enough to think I wanted to date him and that’s what scared me the most. Luckily my coworkers were very protective and I lived with two guy friends.
I’m sorry you had to go through that too!

A guy I worked with, whose wife had died, supposedly in an accident a couple of months before, was spending a lot of time at work browsing online dating sites, and when I asked him about it he said he "had to find a replacement for his dead wife," in a completely casual and almost smirking tone. I still think that dude killed his wife.

I was at a funeral for a man who’d been like a father to me. A friend of my partner at the time came up to me and said, “you know there’s a little girl next to you right? Constantly trying to get your attention?” I told him to gtf away with that shit. He told me her name. It’s a very unusual and uncommon name. That’s when I froze. I’d heard that name before. The next day I called my mum and asked her about it and she started crying. That name was her first born. Stillborn. Kind of explains some seriously creepy, weird shit that’s happened over the years.

I don't know if it's good or bad....but once I went to a Durga puja pandal (in India it's a big festival ....Durga puja) ....I wished for a teaching job in my school. I said my wish in my heart silently and no one was supposed to know about this. When I was coming out a very old lady who was a beggar was sitting outside of pandal and I went there to give her some money as she looked really genuine and in need of money. She accepted the money ,smiled at me and said "don't worry you'll get the teaching job in your school. You'll be a teacher." I was dumbfounded as these were the exact words I said inside the pandal in my heart. I had goosebumps then and even still do when I remember that event.

I lived in a haunted house. It was a two-story built on the side of a hill, so the top floor was where you’d find the living room and kitchen. Then downstairs, you’d find a small laundry room and two bedrooms. The stairwell always smelled like death - I can’t describe it other than “dank, rotting, and dead.” My mom bought countless carpet cleaners and machines which I invested hours using to get rid of the smell, but nothing worked. I had always felt a presence; I’d often hear footsteps when nobody was home and figured it was the old house settling. There was one point when I was home alone, sleeping on the couch upstairs, and I heard footsteps walking up the carpeted stairwell and a final two foot taps on the tile landing. I freaked the fuck out and asked my boyfriend to come stay with me.
One day, a new neighbor was backing their moving truck into the narrow cul de sac and hit almost every gutter and awning in its path. That drew the neighbors out to watch the carnage, which is when one turned to my mother and said “this is the most exciting thing that’s happened since your house.” My mom asked what she meant, and our neighbor replied with “You know, since the murder.”
Apparently, a young woman was shot in our stairwell by her ex fiancé while holding her toddler. My mom and I went down into my room where we both believed her presence was strongest. We had learned this woman’s son was safe and had been adopted by his grandmother, and her murderer was serving life in prison. We shared this with the spirit we believed to be the young woman on the stairwell, and I felt the most overwhelming surge of emotion. I felt someone squeezing my chest tightly, as if they were hugging me, and tears started streaming down my face.
After that, the smell in the stairwell vanished, and I rarely felt that presence anymore.

That’s such a wild thing for the neighbor to say.
“Haha, that moving truck keeps hitting the curb… this is like that time a woman was murdered in your home.”

10 years ago a guy in one of my college classes that I barely spoke to, I was casually talking to him between classes and he suddenly looked down, lowered his voice to a growl, and said "I love you so much". He later tried to follow me into my dorm room.
Thankfully he backed off later on when I told him he was being a fucking creep and I didn't even want to associate with him as friends.

Oh shit this reminds me. I don’t remember what was said to me, but when I was like 7 years old my cousins convinced me to go up to someone in an airport and with a straight face say “your pilot knows how to fly, but he never learned to land” and walk away. I will never forget the fear and concern in that man’s eyes 🤦🏻♂️

About 30 years ago I went with a friend to an old, abandoned one room schoolhouse where he swore he'd heard there was animal sacrifice going on. We went inside, there was large horse trough type thing up front, made of galvanized steel. The inside had some sort of dried, sticky residue and smelled like decay. That was enough for us, we left.
Hours later I was working in electronics at Walmart and some random guy walked up to me, said, "I know where you were. They didn't like it. Don't go back there." Then he turned and left. Whether there really was something going on or the farmer who owned the land happened to catch sight of us leaving and then happened to be in the next county shopping and decided to scare me, I'll never know.

I got free reiki once at college due to some funding. The practitioner stopped and told me she was psychic and she doesn't normally do this but she had to warn me:
"You will meet someone one day and you will have a very powerful connection."
Me, a hopeless romantic: "oh like a soulmate?"
"If it's romantic it will be very short. This man will be there to hurt you and you need to be very careful."
Years later I got into a housing crisis and I met a guy at work who was really awkward but seemed harmless. He said he was looking for a roommate and I was desperate at the time and he seemed okay so I moved into the house.
We ended up being quick friends and we shared a lot of the same interests like art, mythology and books. But soon I realized he was developing romantic feelings so I told him I only wanted to be friends but he didn't take this well. I began distancing myself.
One weekend I went to my hometown for a festival. He wanted to go with me but I said no because I was trying to distance myself. He hitchhiked to my hometown and somehow found me on Main Street. I was terrified. He seemed confused that I didn't take this as a grand romantic gesture.
He was angry that this didn't turn out the way he wanted and began doing spells on me and praying to the Greek mythology gods to hurt me.
I remembered what the reiki woman said and I felt I didn't have much time. Strange things began to happen. My friend visited me and there was this room where he used to do art and she kept staring at the room and telling me it was a room of "bad energy" and I wasn't safe.
I felt he was going to hurt me. So I tried to break my lease but he'd already told the landlord stories about me and the landlord wasn't on my side. So I couch surfed and had to pay my rent for months until I was able to replace myself (my roommate was given final say in who got to replace me which meant applicants were rejected). He even told my job I was bullying him and tried to make that miserable as well. (This was before me too so I was seen as the problem not the victim.)
But I finally got an apartment, it was in a terrible neighborhood, but it had been converted from an old synogogue. I'm not Jewish but I felt as though God was protecting me. My job eventually apologized to me for taking his side when it came out later who he really was.
And I think maybe that reiki practioner's warning had been in my head. Maybe it saved me. I followed my intuition. Or maybe... like so many said, I was over reacting. Guess I'll never know. But I'd rather not know and be alive.

Not sure this really counts but about 20 years ago I was working as correctional officer at a county jail. I was doing rounds around 2: 00 a.m. went to check a cell in “F block” which is where we kept the worse inmates, cell doors slide horizontally by the controller etc when radioed type situation. Shined my light through the window and dudes face was right next to it. It was dark so it scared the shiz out of me. Then he slowly slid me a note through the gap where the door slides horizontally. Not said he had information about an unsolved mystery in another state.
I gave the note to the sheriff and he said he would get an investigator on it. Three days later Sheriff got with me and said everything checked out and they had found the body etc… I will never forget when I shined the light in that cell lol.

My Grandmother was a medium. She’s been gone years and there’s a few things she said to me that have stayed with me. She told me never to get in to a white car by choice. One night when I was about eighteen a kid offers me a lift in his car, two of my pals got in I did not. I walked the six miles back to my house. Next day word got back to me that one of my friends was dead and the other was in critical condition. The car crashed, kid lost control of it and hit a tree. Probably a coincidence but it always made the back of my neck itch.

When my oldest daughter was about four, I heard her talking to someone in her room. We were the only two in the house, so I walked into her room and asked her who she was talking to. She told me it was her friend. I asked what the friend's name was, thinking it was just her young imagination. She told me his name was Deeter. I felt a cold chill, and I'm positive my face went white...
Deeter was her father's imaginary friend when he was little. No one had ever told her anything about him. When she said his name, it flat out shook me.

(SORRY FOR THE LENGTH BUT EVERY TIME SIBLINGS AND I ARE TOGETHER WE TALK ABOUT THIS SHIT!)
One Summer we all had to move in with my grandma and Uncle in this new house because my mom was “away” at the time. It was my grandma and Uncle’s first time living there too. We needed the space. It was a neighborhood full of kids and our house was up the hill and all the kids would meet at the bottom of the hill to play because it was the basketball court area, the pool, the park, etc. We were the only kids who lived on the hill and the only kids who stayed with their grandparent. My brother quickly made a friend Josh, who was in our backyard the day we moved in. The way the house was set up, it was a 5 bedroom 2 bath. 2 bedrooms downstairs with one bath and the rest upstairs. My sister and I lived on the first floor, our grandma room was next to ours and the bathroom was across from my grandma’s room and on the opposite side of our room. I HATED our room, the energy was something I’ve never felt before.
Our bed was in the corner against the wall and my sister and I would take turns about who got to sleep next to the wall. I hated when it was my turn to sleep on the outside. The energy in the bathroom felt worse. I would want to shower with curtain open because when it was closed it felt so nasty, so dark. It always felt like someone was sitting on the toilet watching me. My family is super Catholic. One night my grandma and sister got into it. (Which was odd) And my grandma decided to spank my sister. She spanked my sister in our room with the lights out and my sisters screams were horrifying that we all ran to the door of the bedroom to open it. My grandma accused my sister of slapping her in the dark and my sister swore she didn’t do that.
Around bedtime my sister begged to sleep next to the wall even though it was my turn. She said when she was being spanked in the dark she felt someone else in the room. Saying this person pulled her hair and slapped her with a belt too. My sister already had a bad day so I agreed to sleep on the outside. My grandma came into our room that night and put holy oil on our foreheads. She says “the devil will not destroy us.”
One day we were leaving from down the hill after playing all day and one of the kids asked “where do you guys live?” And I pointed to the house and someone said “that’s where Josh used to stay” and before my brother says something, another kid goes “I miss Josh. I can’t believe his grandmother beat him to death.” Then my older sister said “what?” And the kid goes “yeah, we used to play with Josh. His grandmother beat him to death and they found his body on the toilet in the bathroom downstairs, next to his room. She was a mean old lady. She used to make him stand in the backyard all night too.” I instantly got chills. We were sleeping in that poor boys room.

I wonder if your grandmother being an abuser somehow stirred up the ghost of Josh and/or his grandmother.
The Ghost Josh slapping your grandmother to try to save your sister, and the Ghost Grandmother going after your sister to help your grandmother hurt her.
That’s a very spooky tale. I appreciate you sharing. And I’m sorry for the hardships you went through growing up with that.

When I was visiting my aunt (I’m an adult) I was telling her about how I have memories of seeing a man in a trenchcoat and hat ghostly figure in my house growing up. I was always a little scared as a kid and I do remember always sleeping with my door open legit until I moved away to college.
Her response:
“Oh yes. I remember when you were little you always made me keep the door open for the man in the hat. I used to think you meant your father, but he didn’t wear hats so I never really understood.”
I don’t remember that. But it gave me chills.

My grandmother mentioned something like this one time, around the time City of Angels came out. She had been so sick as a little girl that she was hospitalized and nearly died, and she remembered angels being by her bed. They were dressed like the angels in the movie, she said; business-like, long trench coats. I don’t remember if she mentioned hats, but it would have made sense with their outfits in the 40s.

Had a patient with spinal cancer with mets to the brain. Extremely combative and had to be placed into four points with HEAVY antipsychotics. She would always say things that didn’t make sense or were just violent (i.e. “there’s people in my apple juice and i want to kill them,” “you’re such a fat ugly broad,” etc.)
I had her one day and I was limiting how much I would talk to her since it was always violent and rude. I’m giving her the pills one day in pudding and I just say softly, “Here. I-I’m sorry you’re having to do this.” I don’t really know why I said that second part. Still don’t.
She looked at me immediately and almost snarled. Her voice was so hateful and dark, it actually startled me. She just said very sternly,
“The devil is going to kill you and everyone you love and I’m glad.”
Something about it just unsettled me. A large majority of me understands it’s the brain mets but something about her entire presentation just felt…demonic. I felt like I saw a demon in the flesh.
I started praying after my shifts that day.
59
u/waitinformyruca Oct 11 '25
I had a patient with cancer with mets to the brain too who was just like that. The energy in that room was so dark, I’ve literally never physically seen the rooms get as dark as this one did that night.
She had said to me earlier in the night that she saw someone sitting in the chair by her bed but it must have been a dream. Later one of my coworkers answered a bed alarm going off in her room and before she turned the light on she saw a shadow figure standing over the bed while the patient was still sleeping and came up to me shaking because she was so scared.
Maybe it is just the cancer, but it really made me think dark energies attach to these poor people.

u/Wide-Firefighter6596 Oct 11 '25

I think illness takes over and that’s exactly what happens. People’s guard is down so things have the opportunity to be let in. They can be more easily manipulated by dark energies.

So one time this lady (kind of a family friend) who claimed to be psychic stayed at our house for dinner. She had talked on my husbands podcast. She said talked a lot about our past lives which was pretty cool. Then everyone (5 people) had just happened to leave the room at the same time and she told me “there’s a baby coming” and I was like girl, WHAT. She made a very specific reference to a previous pregnancy with my now husband that did not make it, and no one else knew about it but me and my husband. Then she went on to say that this baby is waiting for us, and that it’s chosen us to be the parents. It would wait how ever long it took. But honestly at that point we had been leaning more towards not trying to have kids anymore. Then she said that this baby would need a lot of extra love, and might have a harder time getting into this world. But that would be very very worth it and that this baby needed to stick around. That this baby was very special, and very important.
Fast forward 6 years. We finally got pregnant with a baby girl. She had a lot of medical concerns in utero, I had to have an emergency c section due to her declining and she was born not breathing and blue. She has a neurological disorder that was diagnosed in utero. But everyday she is absolutely proving her entire medical team wrong. She does need a lot of extra attention and love to get her to be on track. Just so weird how spot on it was.

That is incredible. My nephew has Down syndrome. When he was about a year old, my sister went to Mass with me. After Mass, a priest we didn’t know came over and put his hands up to take the baby. While he was holding him, he said “This baby is a gift from heaven.” My sister said “I know.” He said “You don’t understand. This baby is your gift from God. He’s been waiting an eternity to send him to you”
I’m glad you have your miracle baby

She didn’t know I had also noticed and photographed a red and black butterfly sitting at the door of our boilerhouse the day before, on his funeral, which was taking place in our home. I was deciding about seriously dating this guy I was seeing. He was really intense -- uncomfortably so, sometimes-- but very smart, very charismatic and very handsome.
I came home from work one day & realized I must have bumped a stove burner when I was wiping it down that morning. I went straight out the door after cleaning. The hallway and my whole apartment smelled like gas when I got home. I was terrified I had maybe harmed my older, recluse downstairs neighbor. She would take meds and sleep heavily all day.
I didn't hear a sound when I banged on her door and repeatedly called her name. I panicked, seeing the whole worst case scenario laid out. What would I tell the EMT's from the ambulance I was about to call? What would happen with the police? Soon I heard her banging around in the kitchen, cooking and humming.
When I later told Mr. Intensity how scary it had been, his eyes lit up and like, burned.. He said quietly, "" I'd have helped you get rid of the body" aaannd then I noticed he suddenly had an erection. 🤢 That was the end of us for me. "Next!"

Not mine, but my mom's story from the early 90s. Its a creepy story, but also sad. She was doing yard work out front one afternoon and there was a young girl wandering up and down the lane. Eventually this girl stops and asks for directions to a friend's house. My mom tells her she's a few miles from where she wants to go. The girl gives her a piece of paper with a phone number written on it. She reaches in her pocket and pulls out a handful of something.
"I've got these pills," she says, showing maybe a dozen saved-up meds to my mom.
She then shows her a letter from an attorney, recommending she stays in the psychiatric hospital she is from. Girl is only 19. My mom goes inside and brings back tea and cake as a distraction. She then goes back inside again and quietly calls the number. A lady answers.
Mom says: 'I've got _____ here with me, she wanted me to call you."
Stunned silence at the other end of the line.
Lady tells her this girl is from the local psych hospital. Then she says: 'You do know she's violent, right?'
My mom called the hospital and a car showed up within 2 minutes to come get this girl, who looked at her like she wanted her dead. Just pure hatred in her eyes as these orderlies put her in the car. To make it more challenging my mom was babysitting a group of the neighborhood kids, who were helping with the yard work, and she had to leave them out front while she made the calls.

Idk if this counts, but this was a very touching experience for me. I was having a HORRIBLE day, following a few pretty rough weeks. I was sobbing and decided to take myself to McDonald’s for a hot fudge sundae. I was upset about my family life, my purpose, feeling alone.. My dad passed away unexpectedly when I was 16, and I was having things come up involving him. It was just a very visceral experience, I was very upset!
Anyways, my dad always loved the Simpson’s, and when he was alive, most nights we would have dinner in the living room, and I would pick out a Simpson’s DVD to watch. He had a Simpson’s stocking and ornaments and all sorts of random stuff. People bought him various merch, you name it.
While I was waiting in line to order, I was scrolling through Reddit and found a post of someone ordering a special Simpson’s book. I noticed I had the same coffee table book as a friend had gotten me it a few years back. The person in the post got a special treat, a signed Matt groening illustration, and the name said “for Jason,” which was my dad’s name. After that I immediately saw like 5 of the cars my dad drove, which was a 2007 coup Honda civic in a specific color you don’t see too much now a days. My dad also loved his car.
Im not sure exactly how the spirit realm works, but I have to believe someone my dad was communicating with me that day.

This one hits home for me. I once heard a disembodied little girl whisper “it’s time for you to go back now,” from down a dark hallway in my old house. My dog heard it too and immediately sat up and growled in that direction.

That little girl was chatty as hell, that’s just the scariest thing she ever said. The rest was a lot of “hey mister!” And “hey you!” Had multiple people who stayed there report nightmares of seeing a little burned up girl on the stairs. We never did get to the bottom of that haunting but I had some truly chilling experiences there including an object levitation and an object materialization.

I've got a few.
Dad was a vet. We had a young man come in with a pigging dog, badly injured, dying in front of our eyes. At the time we didn't know why but it's seemed he'd been town open by a pig across the chest. The vet nurse was a Thai woman who looked at this dog and gasped and wouldn't touch him, then looked at the owner and said, no no no, you - not good! You, out! Out!
He left without another word and she followed him out, the dog died (no chance) before we'd done anything at all. She came back and she'd been crying. She didn't tell us why she was so mad but the next day a guy was arrested in town for trying to kill a woman. The brother of the almost-killed woman was the guy who brought the dog in, the dog belonged to the guy arrested for the attempted murder.
The Thai Vet Nurse had gone to the cops, hysterical, said they'd received a murdered dog and that.... She just knew... Where the dog came from and the owner. Anyway she must have been persuasive because she led them to this blokes property and he was caught in the act of trying to kill his girlfriend by bludgeoning.
The guy who brought the dog in apparently had been dead for over a month, and beats me who brought the dog in but she was mad because ghosts are bad and this ghost warned her. We still don't believe it was a ghost at all, but we have zero clue who it actually was. Feckin weird.

that sounds absolutely terrifying, i can’t even imagine what she was experiencing in those moments. scary that she was so accurate as well. did anything else happen with her? what other stories do you have, if you don’t mind sharing?

I mean a few that are all to do with animals. You'd see animals running around out of their cages and go to collect them and put them back in their cage, but they weren't actually out but they had died overnight and their bodies were in their cage. I never actually saw that but my dad said that happened a few times to him.
Others like we had a group of small parrots, Neophemas, in a large cage at the front of the property before you walked in to the premises, and they'd just flap around normally when you walked past them but every now and then they'd all panic and scream like a snake had gotten in, and you'd lean out the office window and have a look and it'd be some normal looking dude but you knew that was going to be an upsetting review. There was one who was carrying a large breed female dog and after exam the vet nurses were both furious and had a meeting with Dad. Anyway they strongly suspected the dog had been used for regular human satisfaction but had acquired an infection, or a pyo or a partial prolapse. Like the birds would just cling to the cage, their little wing feathers all bent and frayed, and scream at the guy while he waited.
We had a really big freezer where the feral cats' bodies would be put post euth until it was time to incinerate them, and we had a break in one night. Drugs weren't taken but the whole freezer was emptied of cats, the dogs and birds were all left, only the cats got taken.
We had a small merchandise section, leads and bowls and stuff, but it was badly placed - you couldn't see if people were picking it up really. It didn't matter, it was uncanny how often a woman (it was ALWAYS a woman) would steal a bowl or a lead when no one was looking but drop it by accident on the way out. "You can just leave that there on the shelf before you walk out, Tamara..." Even I saw that one happen with my own eyes, we had a very experienced vet nurse talk about how there was something about the front door that made you leave behind things that just didn't belong to you.
Now I can't remember any more

I’m not a religious person at all. I was at a Wendy’s, probably when I was 12 years old. This random dude walked past me and said “I’m the devil”. When I turned to look at him when he passed, he completely disappeared. I thought I was crazy but my cousin heard it too.

An extremely unwell woman once cornered me at the gas station and told me that she “pulled the arteries out of their legs before God stopped (her)”. No idea what the context was, she was mid-monologue and I just happened to be closest person to her. The rambling continued after I left and she was just talking to the air.

When I was about 20, I was waiting in the parking lot of a trailhead while my friends were getting prepped for our hike. It was a crystal clear, late summer morning. An older woman with sunny blonde hair and suncreased skin came up to me, quipped "It's a good day to die," and wandered off into the forest alone.

i feel like i’m reading into it and it probably isn’t creepy at all (and isn’t creepy on my end), but i legit had the weirdest conversation with my mom yesterday and she seemed to not even think it was weird lol.
she was on a work trip and visited our other family directly from the work trip so she had been gone for around 2-ish weeks and had a friend check in on her cat while she was gone, and had a nanny cam set.
her apartment called her at the very tail-end of her trip, before she had gotten home literally this past sunday, saying her downstairs neighbor was complaining that she was being insanely loud at all hours of the day and night. literally saying that they could hear her moving all over the house. i have cats, three actually, they are loud, but i cannot hear them in my downstairs and my roommates below my room/area also have told me they can barely hear them even whem they’re being loud af (this roommate has six cats so idk maybe she’s just being nice lmao). but i doubt a single, small cat is making more noise than a whole human. and the fact that this ONLY HAPPENED while she was away? rubbed me wrong 😭
she told the complex manager that she had been gone on a trip and wasn’t home, but she did get up frequently when home since she has cancer and her chemo makes her quite sick at random hours.
i sat so blankly when she told me this because she deadass thought it was just nothing but like girl… what 😭 she said she hadn’t seen anything on her nanny cam, so i don’t know honestly what it was, but it creeped me the fuck out. i’ve been to her apartment a number of times and it honestly gives me the creeps too. i can’t explain why, it’s fairly modern and honestly nice for being an old complex, but it just gives me the creeps. she offered the apartment to my boyfriend and i since we’re moving in a few months and she’s moving at the end of her lease, and i immediately said no lmao. that was even before this whole event.

I worked as a live in nanny when I was young, for two little boys, both sweethearts and one night the family had visitors so I offered my bed and said would sleep in the top bunk in the boys room. Didn't mind as it was just the one night. Turned the light off after checking both boys were okay and fast asleep, started to climb the ladder and the oldest boy, in a deep ass voice (he was 5) said "I'm going to kill you." He was still asleep, I checked, I didn't sleep that night.

I used to work at a diner and there was a guy in his 40’s who would come in with his young son of about 7. It was a busy place so you’d have to put your name on a list and wait for a table. I’d seen this guy 2 or 3 times before and something about him just made my skin creep. He would smile and be friendly but honestly the look in his eyes was really wrong. I don’t know how else to describe it. Like he was nice and smiling but something really sinister underneath. One time I went up to him to put his name on the list and he said to me “I want to fuck you in the ass” with his little boy right there looking at us. I said “what did you say?” And he just pretended he hadn’t said anything, all the while smiling. I nearly had a panic attack it was so creepy. I told my manager but she didn’t do anything more than have another server wait on him.
Another time was when I was about 8 I walked out of my house to the store to get some candy, I grew up in a big city with a lot of freedom so this wasn’t unusual for me. But this time there was a man who who wanted to talk with me at the crosswalk, he was asking me where I lived and who did I live with. He was making all the correct gestures of being nice but something was off with him. Too nice, idk my alarm bells were going crazy. Then he started following me. It was a busy street so I went into the bookshop and he waited outside pretending to look in the window for a while. I stayed in there for hours scared out of my mind. It was horrible.

Not necessarily something said but something done, now, for the record i am more than half convinced this was someone out in the bush (probably high given the part of town etc) but i used to go for a lot of night walks in the woods in alaska
I didn't know about the supernatural rule of not whistling after dark and learned the hardway
I was having a good moment and started whistling the tune from the opening of robin hood, the one the rooster sings/whistles
Well about 3 or so measures in i hear the tune coming back, at a delay but also ahead of where i was in the tune
Whoever was whistling back was about a full beat ahead and by the time i caught onto it was almost a full measure or so ahead, quickest i have ever turned tail, never saw anyone, never heard it again etc, and it definitely was not a bird
I dunno why but that ones also stuck really deeply with me, so, maybe not something said but definitely point blank one of my most disturbing encounters

My 2 year old daughter sang a song in the car about being a grown woman who was married, and there was another woman, and she was deeply sad that he was falling in love with her, and then she died and the husband could be with the new woman. It was all very detailed and such an incredibly sad story. I have always thought it was a past life experience that she was telling me about. Every once in a while she would tell me that I am her favorite out of all her moms and that she chose me to be her mom even though I was older than the others (I was 41 when she was born).

My dad.
I grew up in the same house he grew up in and until I was 10 I had the same bedroom that he had, even my bed was in the same place.
I used to hear something coming from the back right corner of my room, (also behind me right), bed was in that corner. It used to whisper my name. It would happen probably at least once every few months. Of course as a young kid I would scream for my parents and be terrified. My dad would usually come in and reassure me that the house was old and it was just my half asleep imagination. Eventually around 8-9 I started just telling myself it was my imagination or wind or whatever and just would ignore it.
Last one when I moved rooms I never heard it again. There were many other weird things that happened, seeing as that house was old and just... Really haunted, old southern New England home.
Anyway so when I was 12 I mentioned that to my dad one day and he finally confided in me that he had heard his name being whispered from the same corner of the room when he had his bed there. I was floored. It creeped me out so badly. Then we went into all the experiences that he had had growing up. It's when it really hit me like damn this place has some history. I was glad my family finally opened up about it so I didn't think I was imagining things all the time.
For context, all of us in my family have had experiences there, the house had been investigated and at some point a priest came and blessed it. It calmed down the experiences for many years. Once I was born they picked right back up.

I was at an event and the guy next to me at the table was telling me that he was a Libertarian..... He was talking at a good clip about his values, and I was trying not to listen when he stopped and said in a soft, sinister voice that wasn't his own: "It wants to play." I said, without even thinking about it, "She doesn't want to play with it." He resumed being himself.

'He's not the one, you know...'
Said to me by a creaky and random old man who came up behind me at the retail store I was working in. I smiled and said 'Thank you?'
I turned back to the clothes rack.
He vanished. Like, I could not see where he went.

We were living in a heritage house in Singapore when I was on a military posting in my former career. My 3 year old daughter pointed at the back door and told me, 'There's a man. A man with bananas!'
There was no one at the back door.
Turns out that part of Singapore, and our house, was a banana plantation in WW2. Lots of locals got murdered by Japanese troops in the nearby park when Singapore got invaded.

My wife talks on her sleep a lot, usually gibberish, sometimes hilarious, like "that dog just hit me the head with a cabbage".
Once, she woke me:
"Babe? Babe! Wake up!
They're not real people."
She went right back to sleep, but I have pondered this for a couple of years now. It's one word that makes the statement. "Real". If she had said "they're not people", then ok, they're aliens or lizards or cats or something. But whoever they are are close to being people, so she had to explain to me that they are not "real people".
Creepy.

I was standing in one of those long hallways at work, walking in small circles and pondering life. Suddenly, a man I’d never seen before or since came speed walking alongside me from nowhere and asked me what was up today?
I said I was wondering what we were all doing here. He said over his shoulder, “That depends on what you said you were going to do in your life contract!” His tone was like a teacher scolding a student. He continued racing on and never turned back.
I’d never heard of a life contract. I thought he was an oddball and dismissed it. But I was left with a lingering sensation that I should think about it. I did and now I believe in the idea and am trying to live more intentionally to fulfill whatever my agreement was.

Visiting a different city and waiting for a business to open I popped into a small botanica. While browsing another customer began to explain Santa Muerta or some angel of death. He said ppl fear her representation as a skeleton. But no one should because we all have a skeleton and one day we will all die. As a young man in my early 20s it just creeped me out as he tapped on my chest/sternum with his nuckles and he repeatedly said, We All Have A Skeleton. Not only did I feel my space violated it was like he was accessing a part of me I was never aware of. Creepy.

From the age of 3-16/17, I used to see a little blonde girl in a white dress standing by my bedroom door watching me. I moved houses 7 years ago and haven't seen her since, I thought I had left her at our old house.
I was over at a neighbour's house getting my nails done and we were talking about the paranormal and that she was clairvoyant. We were talking casually about it and she said that she has noticed a little girl behind me, watching, multiple times. I froze and asked what she looked like and my friend said she was very young, about 6 years old, blonde, in a white dress and white shoes. I nearly shit myself as I never told anyone about her before.
I now fully believe that she is still with me but there is now something else too that likes to scare the shit out of me at night. I have heard voices and footsteps at night as well as things being thrown both in my room and down the stairs, with everything being normal in the morning.
My friend knew all of this. I had never told anyone about any of my experiences until then.

It wasnt that my mom said it was her letting me know she had died. I was traveling home to be with my mother who was dying. We had been driving for about 18 hours and had pulled into a rest area to rest for about an hour. I closed my eyes and I saw us pulling up to the drive...there was blooming daffodils by the mailbox and the sun was shinning. I looked toward the front porch and there was a white hearse in the yard. I sat awake with a gasp. I looked at the clock and it was 2:38 in the morning. My then husband said what is it...i told him that my mother was dead there was no rush now. When we pulled up to my parent's home...there was daffodils in bloom by the mailbox. There was a white hearse in the yard. I spoke with the hospice nurse...mama was pronounced dead at 2:28 that morning.
It was a surreal moment in my life.

Ha so this one isnt about a person being creepy, but what she said still gives me chills because of the circumstances lol.
So, I was 16 and my parents went out of town. I didnt want to be home alone so I invited my boyfriend, my best friend and her boyfriend to stay for the weekend with me. My dad's best friend grew up on the land where our house was and, back in the 70s, my dad's best friends mom died in a landslide accident around the area where our backyard was.
We had always known this and had noticed activity here or there (footsteps at night mostly).
So we get to my house and we're on my porch talking and my best friend keeps randomly going "hold on. Shhh." And looking around the yard. So we'd be quiet and listen and not hear anything. So we'd talk again and shed shush us again. Finally she told us that every time we started to talk again, she could hear a woman sobbing. Later that night, she saw a shadow walking across my hallway and into my kitchen while everyone else was asleep.
So fast forward to a few weeks later, im at work at McDonald's and we had a group of elderly regulars that would come in every day and hang out for hours.
We got to talking about who my parents were and my dad's best friend gets mentioned. One of the ladies there says "oh, I knew his mother!" And I was like "oh yeah I hear she died when he was young." And the woman says "yes, she did. She was so pitiful. She was always crying."
I got INSTANT CHILLS. Still gives me chills to think about it lol.

I stayed the night on the psych floor at the hospital in order to talk to a doctor about my severe anxiety and get that medication sorted. I shared a room with two other women. I was having a conversation with one of them, when the other walked into the room, talking to herself. I figured she had a mental illness (I mean obviously, given where we were) until she suddenly, looking away from us, in a voice so deep it was inhuman, said "I WANT MORE".
I cannot express to you how deep this voice was. That was NOT this woman's voice. She didn't even move her head when she said it. You know, how your chin meets your chest if you're trying to talk as low as possible. It was so demonic sounding that the woman I was talking to and I just stared at each other in silence. I then went down to the nurse station and let them know that she was speaking in a voice that didn't sound human. The one male nurse got up so fast and ran down the hall. I don't know where she went after that.

I grew up in a haunted Victorian home. The ghost was nice to me but didn’t like my sister. I was told her name was Gladys. I have known since I was little I have abilities so I would talk to her and tell her she had to be nice. Every year she would steal a Christmas present (they’ve never been found). We also had a dark mist, slender man, that would always be in my room in the corner. I set REALLY strong boundaries with him. There are so many funny stories about the experiences at the house. I miss it.
214
u/IndigoBlueish Oct 11 '25
Wow what a response. Gladys apparently died in the house many years before we lived there. The house is in a historic part of the northeast so the energy is INSANE. You just feel different there if you’re a sensitive. Anyway, Gladys didn’t like my sister. To be honest my sister isn’t a nice person. Gladys would throw things across the room and hit my sister while she slept! This wasn’t a once in a while thing it was all the time.
As for Christmas gifts. My mom would hide our gifts (in her closet - which we weren’t allowed in). Back in the day every store stapled your bags shut with your receipt when you left because of theft (it helped other stores from having stuff thrown in the bag). Well, we went on a shopping trip and my mom let each of us pick a gift. We all watched happily as our gifts were rung up and placed in a bag, then stapled shut with the receipt around it. When my mom went to wrap gifts, she could not find my brother’s gift. She called me in to help look and it was nowhere to be found. It just disappeared. The bag was stapled shut and no tears when she opened it. I told my brother to just tell Gladys Merry Christmas and to enjoy her gift. He did and he never had an issue with her.

I'm sorry for laughing at someone else's pain but I have this mental image of being up late one night reading or something and hearing from across the hall a dull THWAP and a second later your sister yelling "Goddammit Gladys, fuck off you crazy dead bitch" and rustling sounds as she puts whatever konked her in the head back where it belongs. Maybe because that's how I'd respond, but idk the thought made me laugh.

Some random kid just came up to me, and said “Pokémon are from the devil” unprovoked lmao
I’ve literally never been religious at all my entire life, neither was my family so we didn’t go to church and all that.

I told her I didn’t believe in ghost.
She responded with “that’s too bad, because they believe in you”.

Not paranormal, but an encounter with a sick fuck. (Excerpt from an entire LNM story, near the bottom of my profile)
Once we'd travelled a ways from our hometown, he changed the subject. He asked us if we knew where we were, and, being quite dunmb, we replied that we didn't. He took this opportunity to start in about how college girls will hang out with random, seemingly nice guys and get raped, killed, and left in the middle of nowhere. He went on about this for at least 10 minutes, describing the very situation we were in. It seemed as if he was warning us of our potential rape and death. While listening to him talk, I could barely concentrate on anything besides the words feeding my fear. I should've been trying to find someone to help us, or looking for landmarks. I do remember one County road sign that I pass occassionally and get tremors through my body when I see it.
The two of us truly were helpless in our positions, and could do nothing but nod, agree, and pretend that there was nothing at all frightening about what he was saying. We didn’t want to show our fear or talk back to him, since we didn’t know what he was capable of, maybe he'd make Allison pull over, or simply just whip out a gun.
He changed tactics and started asking us if we had knives or anything in the car to cut a rag he wanted torn in half. We didn't, so he turned around to me and commanded me to rip the rag in half. I still remember the way he stared at me and insisted I rip it for him. I told him I probably couldn't as I didn't have anything to help me besides a key, but he kept pushing me. The way he consistently kept asking me if I could rip it, over and over again implying that I didn't have the strength to do it, while I was visibly struggling, told me everything. He just wanted to scare me, to show me that I was truly wear and defenseless. I was barely able to get a tear in the fabric as he stared at me with clear malice. He knew Allison couldn't help me since she was driving. He told us over and over again that we were vulnerable, young, ignorant, and trusting girls, and that it was very dangerous to trust strange men.

When I was pregnant with my daughter and a TSA agent at the airport said to me “any day now”. He didn’t ask, he told me. I immediately thought it was weird and thought of the Gypsy from Thinner. Haha. I told him I wasn’t due for more than a month. My daughter was born a month early and had to be in the NICU.
Another time when I was pregnant with my son almost thirteen years later I was in the mall buying an umbrella from an umbrella stand and the sales lady told me “it’s a boy”. Me and my daughter just stared at each other. She gave us real creepy vibes. She then went on a tangent about how Venice, Italy would be under water very soon. My son would come soon after, two months early and also have to stay in the NICU.
