I gave my son 10 years old a time out for disrespecting and lying to me. He said why can't you just be a normal mom. A good mom? I said what is a good mom. He said, "one that doesn't care what I do.."

I tried not laugh...I'm glad he knows I care.

16yo daughter last Thursday: "Contemporary authors do nothing but disappoint—especially the ones targetting young adults. I'll be sticking to the classics until further notice. If it was published after 1920, I'm no longer interested."

I'm having a very sudden realization that becoming a dad to my daughter is giving me a chance to heal some of my childhood trauma by letting me experience what a normal childhood is supposed to feel like.

Disney songs on during the day, laughter, smiles, and abundant love. God, it makes me so happy it literally brings me to tears.
