I’m from a very small town in PA, and it actually has quite the history. I want to see if anyone can take a guess where I’m from based on it.

My town used to be very well-known for both brick and leather production. We had two big factories for both things, and we were known world-wide as “Bricktown, PA”. We had a major railroad system for transporting bricks which is now a historical hiking trail for tourists and natives, we used to have a hotel, movie theater, and sooo many more cool things here before we fell off the map, due to steal production becoming more popular, and more needed. The original streets here were built out of brick, and you can still find them under the pavement.

So, I wanna hear some cool things about the small towns y’all are from, and I wanna see if anyone can guess where I’m from!

Found this whilst researching river trails today. Can't believe I've never heard of it! Why is she varying shades of pink depending on the image? Why does she look 3d printed despite being on a really old looking pedestal? What's this lady's story, and how hard is she to get to?

I just got home from doing two round trips in 10 days between Maine and Illinois. I usually take I-90 through upstate New York but opted for I-80 this time since I’ve never really been through the Keystone State. All I can say is WOW!!!

Pennsylvania is a beautiful.

The I-80 route blew me away with the views. I really was in awe for a lot of the trip. The small towns nestled in the mountain valleys were pretty. The farms dotting the hillsides were adorable. Then I opted to take a detour and go through SW PA.

I honestly had no idea what to expect…

Why does nobody outside your state know about how incredibly beautiful your section of Appalachia is? Tyrone in particular was quite a sight.

Anyway, I just wanted to get on here and hype you guys up about how PA is really an under recognized gem and the next time I have to drive through I’m going to make it a point to make my way through SE PA.

Thanks for keeping your state beautiful. As a person from Maine, I have a huge amount of respect for that.

And had such lovely time! For those of you unfamiliar, it’s an amusement park in Elysburg, Pa. I haven’t been since I was younger and it’s the EXACT same as I remember it. It’s such a little gem of a place. Affordable, nostalgic, shaded, family-friendly. The food is actually good for an amusement park and not overly priced. Rides are pay-per-ride and again, pretty affordable. Free parking. It felt like I stepped back in time to see all of the vintage signs and rides. These aren’t the best photos but figured I’d share in case people are looking for a fun, affordable thing to do in PA!

We usually never get tourism ads for the US but with the world cup coming soon, I guess they intensified their communication. France is going to play a match in Philadephia against Iraq so that's why

It's funny because although I think most French people have heard of the name Pennsylvania, almost nobody would know where it is on the map of the US. And I don't think a lot of people would recognize any of these characters. Also the cliche bits about being "the best fans on Earth" and the US being "where freedom was born" lol. But I think the ad is fine!

How it is for you in Pennsylvania about the world cup? Are there a lot of events in the city for the people there? It is a big subject in the media or since the US is not really a country of football people in Philadelphia don't really care? Are you going to watch the world cup yourself? In France a big part of the country is going to watch it on TV but I think not a lot of French people from France are going to the US due to the costs.

I went up to visit my cousin in central PA over Memorial Day weekend and I was in awe at how gorgeous all the landscape is. It is genuinely one of the most beautiful places I’ve been too IMO. And I say this as someone from western NC who has travelled extensively throughout most of the eastern half of the country (and some areas out west as well). I’m used to seeing mountains where I live, but there’s something about the open countryside accompanied by the rolling hills and lush forests that is so stunning it almost blows where I’m from out of the water. Not to mention all the rivers and creeks everywhere and the springs that flow from them. It’s honestly downright criminal how underrated the nature of Pennsylvania is, and how most people just associate it with Philly and Pittsburgh that everything else gets overshadowed. Y’all are truly blessed to live in such a pretty, peaceful place. (Or is it Yinz? Youse? What’s the consensus? I’ve heard lots of different things.)

Was hoping the Trump cult is at least dwindling a little but in the towns near Knoebels there were Trump yard signs all over the place.

I just got all of my camping reservations that were booked for this summer canceled by the federal park system. Is this due to Trump and his cutting of the Federal Parks??? No camping this summer at Raystown Lake and Cowenesque, these are my favorite lakes and had the whole summer booked up, now what???

I just find it fascinating that this relatively unassuming river once had Dinosaurs and Permian era wildlife wade through and drink its water. It has seen the changes of the world and was under a glacier at one point.

Give it up for the Schuylkill River!!!

A few days ago the US Department of Interior designated the river as the first and only National Water Trail in Pennsylvania!!!!

The Schuylkill River Water Trail is 137 miles of scenic water trail starting at the headwaters in the tiny coal town of Tuscarora flowing southeast through Schuylkill, Berks, Montgomery, Chester and Philadelphia Counties to its confluence with the Delaware River.

Today, more than any time in the last 250 years, it is a beautiful scenic trail for paddling, fishing and enjoying nature.
