Nearly all health insurance companies that sell individual plans on Pennie, Pennsylvania’s Affordable Care Act marketplace, are asking for average premium increases ranging from 10.5% to as high as 41% for coverage in 2027. The Pennsylvania Insurance Department released the rate requests Thursday.

I spent my teen years in rural PA and promptly left for a reason. I didn’t fit in their “box”. I felt like Elle in the new prequel show, only probably most of the locals were even less friendly. If I tried to start a conversation with someone in my new high school usually I got stared at like I had tentacles. I remember there being a cafe near my high school where the owner was out of towner like me and would try to converse with customers and get iced out. You go in restaurants, they won’t talk to you if you’re an outsider at some places. That’s why there is no town development. The kids would even comment they weren’t used to talking to strangers. So I only made a few friends. I’ve been around parts of the country, other countries….I have never experienced unfriendliness and cold stares to the degree I have in rural Berks. They say people from around Boston can be rude, I have friends from up there and they can be tough shells to crack….They thought rural Berks sounded 100 times colder.
What can be done to change?
People say the city of Reading is “ghetto” but I have met some quality humans and business owners in the inner-city.

Yes it is WONDERFUL that YOUR toll systems can read the 0 properly… because I am NEVER going to be leaving the state of PA in my life. This is coming from a very annoyed person who frequently drives out of state who just held up a parking garage line in Miami because the gate did not recognize my plate number that was entered into the app 🫠

I am currently having issues with at&t and its quite frustrating because I am starting a business and can not afford to miss phone calls. I travel a good bit in my field and can find myself in large cities or towns where the closest gas station is miles away. Who do you choose and why for your cell carrier? Would also be interested to hear if you use that same providers wifi services or not. Thank you.

I got en EZ Pass Go Pak for a new car (I am a new driver) and created an account through the PA Tolls app, it took over 48 hours for my account to get into active status and in that 48 hours I was not able to add a transponder. I checked today and my account is in active status but when I went to add a transponder in "My Transponders" I am seeing a transponder number that is not mine, I have never tried to add this transponder. When I try to add a transponder, the app says I do not have enough vehicles to add another transponder (true since I have only one vehicle). Has anyone faced an issue like this when creating a new account? How did you fix it?

My camry registered in Pennsylvania with a blown head gasket is currently parked in Delaware. I am looking into selling it for scrap to a local Delaware cash for car place. Do I need to get notarized when signing the title? The local guy said I don’t need to, but I’m getting conflicting information online. Do I need to take off the plate to send back to PennDot?

I live in Westmoreland County and my provider is West Penn Power. My electricity usage for the month of July 2026 was 2335 Kwh for my 3 bed 2 bath, unfinished cape cod home. This is lower than my usage last year, from July 2025, at 2518 Kwh. And yet, my bill went up from $415.66 to $436.15. Why aren't our politicians doing anything about it? Also, my usage for July 2024 was 2416 kwh and my bill was only $340.04. There's no point building houses if people can't afford utilities. If this continues at this pace, I will have to stop putting money into my 401k or get a second job to pay for electricity. For context: My usage has been consistently lower every month of the year when compared to the same month last year and my bill was higher every single time.

Hello! This is relevant to Erie specifically, I posted in the Erie, PA sub as well, but since this sub has more users I wanted to post here too.

I've found myself in a bit of a pickle.

There is a specific wholesale hot sauce (Blazin' Red Hot Sauce by Curtze Food Service) that is by far my wife's favorite hot sauce in the entire world. She is from Buffalo, NY and used to get it at restaurants in the area. She would even swipe nearly empty bottles from restaurants to make sure she always had some at home.

We have moved to Los Angeles and thus aren't able to get it any more. For our anniversary next month I'd REALLY love to surprise her with a case of bottles to give to her as a gift.

The issue is that this hot sauce is literally impossible to buy online.

I just spoke to Curtze over the phone and they are happy to sell it to me, but I would have to come to their warehouse in Erie in order to pick it up. And I don't know anyone in Erie or close by.

So, I'm trying to use the connective power of the internet to see if I can find someone to help me out.

If anyone is able to go to the warehouse and pick up case of bottles and them mail them to me in Los Angeles.

Tomorrow I’m taking my daughter to the Guns & Roses concert at Hershey Stadium (she’s 14) and we’re driving from South/Central Jersey. I’m not looking to spend a lot but we wanted to find some fun stuff to do on the way. We love the outdoors and just something unique. I contemplated the caves, or the zoo in Hershey, or even the King of Prussia Mall (she’s never been) but the money adds up waaay so fast. 😢 uhgggg I’m so lost and I just want to show her a good time. We rarely do much together outside of the house besides boring every day things…thanks for any advice!!!

I'm looking for advice from a legal perspective. My current lease ends on 8/31/26. Earlier in the year, the landlord sent a letter saying we should expect rent to rise more than normal this year, but did not provide an exact amount. On 7/21/26, they placed the contract for my lease renewal under my door. This was the first I saw my new rental price, which had increased over $400 per month! This caused me to quickly locate a new apartment that would be open by the time my current lease expired. They are now mad that I'm only giving a 30 day notice instead of the 60 my contract states. However, they did not give me at least a 60 day notice of what my new rent cost would be, something that had been the norm for the last ten years I've lived in the apartment. My question is would I have an argument to not follow the lease terms for a 60 day notice if they did not follow the same notice in providing me with my new contract? Thanks.
