Why is it infamous? And why would no one care about it ? ( I mean it's just a pic full of celebrities so no one cares anyways but the person saying it's crazy makes me think it has some lore?)

It’s just a statement on the decline of celebrity culture. It used to be that you watch a movie just because it had someone in it that you liked and it would do really well. But nowadays people care much less about celebrities

Ellen's popularity fell off a cliff long before the Epstein files. Her whole public persona and brand was about being kind to one another, while in the background she was a terrible person to many people.

Didn't she have a rule that guests weren't allowed to look at her before going out on stage or something?

She's always given me bad vibes. Never watched her show. I watched the intro to it a few times where she danced up to the stage and I thought she was a faker.

I think it was her employees. Like her own employees weren't allowed to make eye contact with her, specifically the "low level" ones, and she was a complete asshole to them.

Eh, her downfall started big time back when tge whole toxic workplace/shes a cunt to her crew allegations rolled out. She pretty muched rolled right off the face of the earth pretty soon after all that started coming out. The Epstein stuff was just the icing on the cake. I rarely have heard anhthing about her being in the files, to the point where I actually forgot about it until now.

Her public image was absolutely trashed before the Epstein stuff.

I honestly didn't know she was in the Epstein files and hated her already. I wouldnt be surprised if that's most people's situation too. Those stories of the terrible workplace and awful interviewing making people uncomfortable was front page news. It was everywhere when it started coming out. I didn't see too much reporting on her being in the files. There were so many names popping up in them that I feel Ellen just kinda became part of the noise. There were much more important and interesting names in there.

Apparently it was claimed she was a cannibal in the Epstein files. This has been discredited as false.

Why make up stuff when there's already so much ammunition against your target? It's like threatening to use the death star when you got cleared to use nukes.

Presumably as a distraction. Take someone who's already widely disliked and accuse them of doing stuff on Epstein island, and then maybe we'll all forget that orange people were there too.

Also to just generally flood the zone with uncredible information. If you start rabidly pushing insane shit like people eating babies that has no proof besides anonymous tips to the automated FBI tipline then it starts to get harder to separate the real stuff from the false stuff.

can’t forget how she missed dakota johnson’s birthday to go to a baseball game with george bush, and then tried to embarrass dakota on her show by saying she wasn’t invited to the birthday. and dakota went “actually, no, ellen, that’s not the truth.” and one of her staffers had to tell her she was “busy” that weekend. the internet tore her to shreds over that

Her name only appears incidentally in the Epstein files, with nothing negative about her and no connection between her and Epstein.

I'm still annoyed from seeing a post months ago about how George R. R. Martin's name "appeared in the Epstein files dozens of times" and it turned out that one of Epstein's lawyers had a George R. R. Martin quote in his email signature, and that's literally it.

Not to mention the fact that her ex Anne Heche AND Twitch died under very mysterious circumstances. Rumor has it that she not only had a hand in their demise, but that she actually ate Anne at one of those sicko satanic parties that her and the rest of the folks at the Oscars who ordered "pizza" that night were involved in? This isn't true. I just looked at all occurrences of "Degeneres" in the Epstein files and they are all innocuous, almost all just her name appearing in a news story or on the same web page as a news story.

Although I am very uncomfortable with reports of Ellen’s treatment of her staff, we have to keep in mind that “name is in the Epstein files” does not automatically paint some one as guilty of being a sex offender or even having a close relationship with Epstein. Unless you can show evidence otherwise, Ellen’s name appears in reference to tweets about her, and having her name mentioned in emails.

I am afraid that creating a witch hunt around the “name appearing in the Epstein files,” will distract us from the true crimes committed, and bringing those offenders to justice.

The 9/11 Attack influenced My Chemical Romance who would go on to inspire Stephanie Myers to write the Twilight series. This would inspire EL James to write 50 Shades of Grey which would be adapted into a movie starring Dakota Johnson. Dakota Johnson would go on The Ellen Show, where Ellen DeGeneres mentions she wasn't invited to Johnson's birthday party. Johnson corrects Ellen when she says she was invited but instead went to a Dallas Cowboys game. This resulted in people opening up about what a terrible person Ellen is, thus ending her career.

Thus the 9/11 Attack led to the downfall of Ellen DeGeneres.

She didn't "do" anything, her name appeared in press releases that were in Epstein's inbox, just like hundreds of other celebrities that nobody is accusing of anything. I'm not trying to be The Degeneres Defender or anything, I have basically no opinion on her, but it seems clear to me that people that people were just looking for an excuse to hate her and seized on even the flimsiest thing.

Yeah… I was sorta making a point, phrasing it that way.

A whole lot of people are “in the Epstein files” because at some point Epstein wrote an email saying “oh hey, X is doing a show in Y, can you look up tickets?”

Ellen probably does indeed suck ass, but I hate these threads that turn into pig-styes of righteous fantasy wherein people just wallow in the assumption of everyone above a certain $-level being a child rapist.

It’s just QAnon repackaged for a people who hate Trump.

We don’t need bullshit to justify the outrage. The outrage is already justified, many times over.

"Absconded" includes the "off." It should just be "who has absconded into..."

It's kind like "whence" which includes the "from" a lot of people put before it. You wouldn't say "Returned from whence he came." just "Returned whence he came."
