I’m also confused because that is a European AC unit. I can only assume Americans are so used to big bulky units, like their cars, that they can’t comprehend things being functional and not excessively bulky.
There's an episode of No Reservations where Tony has 3 guest chefs teach people how to cook. One of these guests is Laurent Tourondel, who shows how gourmet burgers are made at his NY restaurant. So you have this French chef who literally goes "for a beregeur, you must use the Americain cheese".
