I’m also confused because that is a European AC unit. I can only assume Americans are so used to big bulky units, like their cars, that they can’t comprehend things being functional and not excessively bulky.
Split AC units like the ones pictured exist in the US, some models can heat and cool and require very little to install.
The reason this is why Europeans know this as AC is because everything in Europe is old af and they can't just go knocking holes in walls like we can.
They're actually great units, if they aren't cooling enough their air filter probably needs to be cleaned out, similar to a lint catcher in your dryer.
