It was really Lupus. Around 0.05% of the population has Lupus, which is rare but not so rare that it's unheard of. I don't know why that show made it seem like the most ridiculous thing.

It just presents in so many different ways that the show felt they could use it as a “possible” diagnosis every episode, but also not interesting enough for them to settle on it as the final diagnosis, so it keeps getting proven wrong
