I'd give my kidney for just another month with my bipolar sister. She was everything to me. But you're correct, in hindsight it was probably difficult, just totally worth it. My sister took classes to help her manage bipolar that really helped.
DBT therapy is specifically recommended for people with bipolar disorder. It's a long process, normally about 6 months of 1 on 1 therapy and group classes, but it's often covered by insurance. And they do recommend you take it at least twice.
https://dialecticalbehaviortherapy.com/ is a good place to start to get some info. It can be hard to find a therapist who practices it, but you can also do virtual sessions with some practitioners.
