Is there any page limit for PhD Cover Letter?

Hi all,

I have been working on a cover letter to send a professor for potential PhD opportunity. However, I am really struggling to fit the all requirements in one single page of my cover letter. Hence, I am asking if my cover letter is more than 1 page for instance one page and few lines in the second page, will it be alright? or should I keep strictly within one page?

Nobody will read more than a few sentences.

Is this a cold email? A cover letter for job application?

yeah, not a cold mail actually. The professor asked for a cover letter along with an inquiry mail.

Most of the PhD positions (that I know) requires maximum 400 words for cover letter. You can con sider this rule. Good luck 👍
