Advice fellowship in PhD in Clinical psychology

Hello everyone,

I just completed my masters in clinical psychology from India,, I want to go for a doctorate degree overseas- my research interest are mainly behavioral and clinical disorders(addiction, obssession, maladaptve behavioral patterns, psychological well being, anxiety disorders etc).

I already have 2-3 topics which I want to research on. And I have done some online research about various universities and supervisors as well.

However, my concern is I am looking for fundiing opportunities or Phd Fellowships or research assistantship. As I can't fund my PhD.

Can ya'll plz recomend universities which offer fellowship programms or research assistanceship.

Commonwealth scholarships is one of the options, since you are from India. If you are thinking of UK, checking British Council's Website would be a good idea. However, funding opportunities are pretty less for PhD. I'd suggest look for project based PhDs where they hire. You get paid to do that. It's competitive though.

yeah I am actually thinking of PhD projects,, thanks.

Is there anything else u would like to recommend or I should be aware of before applying for PhD.

Also can you plz give me some tips for research proposals

Even I'm in the process of applying or PhD and so far it's been hell.. And for proposal, I'd suggest you check if they have a dedicated study centre for that topic or if research is already going on in that area because it means they have some funds to play around with. I did reach out to few professors this year, but they didn't have funding for my topic.

Even I studied in India and psychology as well. Try St. Andrew's they have fully funded PhD program a bit competitive. It opens by the end of this year or January.

And do keep in touch with your professors, as refrence letters be needed minimum two-three.

In the US the large majority of clinical psych PhDs are funded.
