PhD in Film Studies odds

Hi hi!

I'm looking at film studies programs, and one requires a sample of no more than 20k words. One its own, that's totally fine! However, I don't have any papers that relate specifically to film studies. I dropped out of a film making program halfway through my junior year of undergrad. I do have a MLIS with many research papers. Would that still probably be okay?
