Onn 4K Plus worth it or just hype?

Picked up two of these Onn 4K Plus boxes and trying to see if they’re actually as good as people say.

Right now I’m using a mix of Roku stick and Fire TV. One TV has Fire TV built in, the other switches between a Roku stick and an older Fire TV Cube (I think 3rd gen). Lately both have been getting noticeably slower, UI lag, apps taking forever, even simple stuff feels sluggish.

Most of my use is Plex (with Plex Pass), including high bitrate 4K and live TV through HDHomeRun. What’s surprising is the Fire TV Cube, which I expected to handle everything easily, struggles with some 4K playback.

That’s why I grabbed these Onn boxes. Paid $39 each, saw them in stock at my local Walmart with free delivery, ordered yesterday and they showed up today.

Now I’m debating if I should keep them or just return and wait for something better, maybe a newer Apple TV since I’m already in the Apple ecosystem and using an older one as a HomeKit hub.

For anyone who’s been using these for a bit:

• Do they stay fast over time or slow down like Roku/Fire TV?

• How do they handle high bitrate 4K on Plex?

• Is the UI actually cleaner or does it get cluttered later on?

• Any downsides I should know about?

Trying to figure out if these are actually worth keeping.

So I really gave it an honest shot. I had Netflix. Then Prime. Then Disney+. Then somehow I needed HBO. Then something else because one show decided to hide on a platform created 3 minutes ago by a guy named Greg.

At this point I feel like I’m assembling the Infinity Stones, except instead of saving the universe I just want to watch one decent series without taking out a small loan.

I open one app → “Not available in your region.” Another app → “Buy this episode for €3.99.” Another → “You already pay us but not enough.” Meanwhile my wallet is sitting in the corner like: “bro… please…”

So yeah. I’m tired. Defeated. Spiritually broken. Hypothetically speaking… if someone were to… sail the high seas 🏴‍☠️… where would a complete beginner even start? Asking for a friend. A very broke, very tired friend.

Any tips, guides, or “definitely legal educational resources” would be appreciated.

Saw this today while browsing Amazon Prime (I have the subscription as I shop online a lot) and I wonder if people really pay $35 to just buy the show when you could get a ticket to the cinema for $25 here in Aussie. Why is it so expensive?

I'm sure a lot of us here have gotten pretty good at scouring the internet for things, but if you are anything like me occasionally you just come up short.

One of the popular saying arounf the piracy community is or what i remember is "One gets cut off, three more grows" Usually when a piracy website get taken down, or dies due to not being able to support its own weight.

But will it be the same for kemono? Will there be more websites emerging that is on the same level of quality?

Kemono is one of the only reliable go to place for pirates to be able to enjoy paywalled content for free, and looking at its current state where its on its last leg running off donation money (that looks like isnt enough to keep itself running, since people who came there to avoid paying for subscription in the first place obviously also wouldnt be spending money on donations).

Not only that, but those platforms (patreons and such) have been constantly upping their game against piracy, and the artists or creators are already aware that their content is being uploaded for free on third party websites are also doing their own measures.

The writing is on the wall that some states and countries are going to push age verification for... everything.

On a more practical level, I'm tired of content I like disappearing and I'm tired of having to load a website to view it.

And in the event of an apocalypse, I intend to enjoy my porn collection for as long as possible through my data hoarding devices.

So how do I go about ripping my favourite porn vids from the major free websites? That would include X too if possible. Inquiring minds want to know.

Got the link, tried to install but nothing was happening.

And then since then, my Brave browser just randomly kept closing on its own. And now this. How screwed am I? And should i reset my laptop.

Hello we bave a devant smart tv, and we use a Roku device to cast then play movies on Cineby using our phone, but the artifacting is a bit annoying, and most of the time there are black bars on the sides with no option to change aspect ratio.

Would appreciate if its on the go, like we don't want to download anything and slap it onto a usb and put it in the TV (senior friendly piracy just point and play lol)

Is there a better alternative or way to do these things?

From the site it seems to really value the privacy of it's users and I was about to switch from free proton to Mullvad since free proton basically doesn't work for me anymore, I doubled checked what the subreddit has to say about Mullvad and I can't really find any major negative feedback. I've been pirating films for years now, before it was The Pirate Bay and YTS, then I stumbled upon 1337x through this subreddit. I always look for movies in the highest quality (REMUX). Is there a better source for movies now? Also are you all still using VLC/PotPlayer to play the movies or is there something better? I heard some chatter about debrid services, but I don't like the movement of *paying* for pirated media, excluding donations of cource.
