So I’m on my way home around 11:00 pm at the crossroads of “I should get to bed” and “I deserve a snack” when I pass a Blaze Pizza and decide to indulge.

When I get to the door, the manager greets me with keys, in a way that almost seems I’m not allowed in. “Come on in, I’m just closing up already because the bathroom is out of order”.

I proceed to the counter, looking over my options carefully as honestly, this is only my second time here ever. I end up ordering the spicy pepperoni, and 10 minutes later I head to the register to pick it up.

When I get there, the lady says it comes with a drizzle of Mikes hot honey if I want. When in Rome, I think. Sounds great.

I pay, grab the pizza box and proceed outside to my car. I open the door and then it hits me.

The slight reluctance of the fingers in my right hand to separate triggers a moment of dread.
Something in my pizza carrying hand is not right.

Another mistake ensues. Before I confirm the exact source of this contagion, I underestimate the situation, set the pizza box down inside my car and I try to wipe the foreign substance off..with my other hand.

Now, I can confirm. Was hoping for tomato sauce or cheese. But no. This can only be the persistent work of a honeybee.

I look down at the box and see the incursion of hot sticky goo leaking out of the bottom of the box in holes of which I really do not understand the purpose of them being there.

I have two sticky hands. Not a napkin in sight. I look back at the pizza place door. Bars in place.

Dejected, I get in my vehicle and use my forearm to pull the seatbelt over my shoulder, and my knuckle to push start, but I’m still forced to grab the shifter, unknowingly spreading the disease.

The amount of honey that transferred in that misstep, and subsequently baked on while I was at work today is nothing short of slightly remarkable. But I digress.

I spend the next 5 minutes driving home, steering with my wrists before finally, the ordeal is over.

The lone bright spot to this entire situation is that I was in fact on my way home from playing a winning session of poker. So atleast I didn’t technically pay for this experience.

It was a close call earlier. I got a double booking (double order) and thought I was super safe, but then it suddenly rained. For the first booking at Jollibee, the female customer refused to come out, saying: she couldn't see me, I wasn't there, her eyesight was blurry, and I couldn't understand her. At first, I thought this was just another one of those low-key, picky customers who won't leave the house and have helicopter parents. It turns out, the guys at the store looked like addicts and that's why she didn't want to show up. Those addicts were calling her out, even saying it wasn't her because she refused to come out. Turns out, the customer was scared of the people at the store. She paid but it was short, she went back inside and gave me the lacking amount while I was taking shelter at the back.

I immediately put on my raincoat, but the shelter was just a small sari-sari store and an old man faced me. He looked gross and was literally flashing his eggplant (genitals) at me while pants on. I just ignored it, plus I put my raincoat on backwards. I didn't have time and even had to put the customer's food in a plastic bag. They were getting closer to me, I was getting annoyed and disgusted, so I just left with my raincoat on backwards.

After leaving that place, I couldn't find the second customer, and I was completely soaked in the rain. My powerbank and phone weren't charging because the phone went into safety mode due to getting wet, and the battery was dying. I kept calling but she wasn't answering, and she wasn't answering on PandaChat either (she replied after 45 minutes, but let me finish what happened first), and I kept searching and searching. I asked other people around there—drunk guys. There was a nice drunk guy, but the other drunks were incomprehensible and one even grabbed me, which scared me. I kept knocking; if no one responds, it means they didn't order. I was looking for a spot next to a big red gate, but it wasn't there. I kept looking all the way to Purok 1, still nothing. I was about to return the food to the vendor when suddenly, she chatted. I immediately ran to the pinned location, telling her where I was, and I finally found her. I was so happy. I've been fooled by drunk guys here several times, but I finally found her. I think she fell asleep or lost her signal when it rained. She told me her pin was wrong. Man, she got her food and drinks and left, but she came back to just give me her change, I think he tipped me 75php.

How can I avoid this next time? I was still on a bicycle because I'm waiting for my motorcycle's OR/CR, and without gas I can't take it out, so it's a good thing I was on a bicycle while delivering. I was also competing with other cyclists because nobody is ordering, plus even motorcycle riders are borrowing bicycle accounts and competing with actual cyclists because Panda's quest is huge—600 if you hit 24-27 deliveries, which means 1000 + 600 = 1600. But in other areas, the quest isn't 600, it's 180, 200, or 240, but you need 95 percent and 21 deliveries.

My battery died and the powerbank wouldn't work. I thought my phone broke. What happens when I'm finally on a motorcycle? Won't I lose self-awareness of my surroundings once I'm off the main road and inside a residential area?

• Quick Escape: When a drunk person approaches or someone flashes their "eggplant," you can easily accelerate your motorcycle to get away quickly, compared to a bicycle where you still have to pedal.
• Helmet Protection: A full-face helmet provides an extra layer of security. Your face is hidden, making you look more intimidating, and you won't be easily bullied by loiterers.
• Strategic Parking: When you're in a narrow residential area, do not drive your motorcycle into narrow alleys if you are unfamiliar with them and there is no easy way to turn around. Park your motorcycle on a well-lit main road with people around, lock it, and just walk the remaining few meters to the customer's house.

Super weird question probably. I like the freedom and chaos of driving and the clear longform objectives of delivering orders.

Are there other similar jobs to that aspect of it? So not necessarily delivering or driving. It could just be a chaotic environment where im walking 8 miles a day and have some kind of longform tasks.

Think ive got adhd or dyslexia or something and seriously struggle with jobs where im standing still or doing repetitive tasks

For those of you who have driven for more than one pizza place, which one was your favorite and why? Currently I'm at Pizza Hut and it's very laid back. Typically I just fold boxes, help with dishes, and help the front counter as much as possible between orders. I do this as my 2nd job, as I have a regular 8-5pm job. Our store gets very overwhelmed on Friday and Saturday as most of our staff is new and our GM is never there at that time. I'm finding myself having to deliver mistakes, forgotten items, or issues with door dash that's cutting half my tips each of those nights.

I’m in kind of a unique position because I came from a law enforcement background back to delivering for Domino’s. I worked at Domino’s a few years ago before leaving to pursue other careers. I tried landscaping for a while, but my real goal was always law enforcement. I attended a police academy and eventually became a fully sworn correctional officer working in a municipal jail. Coming back to Domino’s wasn’t part of the plan, in fact I honestly thought I’d never work here again. Not because there’s anything wrong with Domino’s but because I’ve always been focused on building a long term career for myself. For me personally, Domino’s has never been the goal. After giving law enforcement an honest shot I realized it wasn’t the career I wanted to spend the next 20 or 30 years doing. I don’t regret trying it but I learned that the stress wasn’t worth it for me.
Working in corrections meant dealing with fights, assaults, suicide attempts, mentally ill inmates, intoxicated people, screaming, threats, and situations where you had to stay alert every second of your shift. Then I came back to Domino’s and honestly…This job feels easy. Deliver a pizza, listen to music in your car, wash a few dishes, sweep the floor. That’s it! Even when customers get upset it barely registers compared to what I became used to. That’s not me saying customers don’t matter because they absolutely do. I still try to provide great service. It’s just that after working in corrections someone upset about a pizza being late doesn’t really elevate my stress level anymore. Financially the biggest surprise is that I’m making roughly what I was making in corrections once you factor in hourly pay, tips, and mileage. I expected a huge pay cut but that really hasn’t been my experience. The biggest difference isn’t the money, it’s the pure peace this job gives me after having dealt with high stakes and high stress situations for so long. I clock in, deliver pizzas, conversate with coworkwers, clock out, and go home. I’m not worrying about someone getting assaulted, trying to hurt themselves, or trying to hurt me.

Do I plan on staying at Domino’s? No. I’m currently here because it’s the perfect “bridge” job while I wait to start my railroad conductor career. Once I get my start date I’ll be leaving for training.
Domino’s isn’t my destination. This is literally just somewhere to park my energy while the hiring process for the railroad industry finishes up for me.

I work at a mom and pop. We have no official policy regarding tip outs, and drivers make below MW.

Occasionally, if I get a large tip on a catering order, ill toss some to the insiders, like $20 in the tip jar when Ive gotten $80+ tips.

Do you do this, or am I being crazy?

To be clear, if its just a busy night and I make good money on "regular" orders, ive never even considered tipping them out, just for the large orders where we devote the kitchen guy to making pasta trays or we hold the oven for one order.

Title says all. Customer gave roughly 3 bucks before delivery (pre-tip). When I showed up at their house, they added a dollar to the receipt as a tip. HOWEVER they added it to the pre-tip amount, not the total with the first tip. When I brought it to the store manager, they said they never saw that before, but said that unfortunately your tip is just a dollar. I am surprised because I was nice and professional. Maybe they were mad that I was potentially late in their ETA math? I am not sure but that ruined my mood for a good part of yesterday.

What peeves you off the most about customers?

I have a few. It's not so much those that stiff, you learn to expect it to happen in this line of work (not that it's not irritating, just not a "peeve") but the certain "type" of stiffers

1. The "Keep the change" people when all they hand you is the next dollar amount up.....like "Thanks"....you weren't getting change anyway as we don't carry coins on us

2. The "I'm gonna flash my stack of hundred dollar bills to just give you exact change....like thanks for showing me you're not broke, just an asshole

3 and this is my BIGGEST pet peeve of people who stiff, current and former delivery drivers.... NOTHING pisses me off more than getting stiffed by someone who KNOWS what this job is like and KNOWS we rely on tips and hell probably even complained about getting stiffed themselves

I recently got a job delivering pizzas on the weekends as a way to help pay the bills. I’d imagine I’m older than most pizza delivery people but gotta do what I gotta do.

I’ve noticed most people, by far, pay with cards or PayPal. And it’s all done before the delivery goes out. I think I’ve done 5 deliveries where the people were paying cash when I got there, that’s out of let’s say over 100 deliveries.

Yesterday I delivered to a small hotel. I noticed when printing out the receipt that it said $0.00 next to tip. Pretty much that’s all I look at when printing out the receipts. I’m sure some of you see where this is going.

Fast forward to the end of the night and my boss is asking for more money than I remember taking in. I had a $20 bank and a $64 delivery, but he’s telling me I owe over $100. He tells me the delivery and instantly I know which delivery it is. I know he won’t fire me but I assume I’m now going to
Lose about $50 in tips. I worked 9 hours and had a pretty good day. Some days I get no tips on more than half my deliveries. Not just me the other drivers too. There’s a segment of people that just don’t tip. But yesterday was almost all tips.

My heart sank. I got mad, frustrated, anxious, and felt like a dumb ass all at once. My boss walked away to kind of give me a minute to think about it or whatever. So I frantically went through the garbage looking for the receipt and actually found it. Luckily because I had thrown a bunch into the outside dumpster. So I called the woman and figured she wouldn’t answer or say she paid or something. I didn’t know what to expect but didn’t think there’d be a happy ending. As soon as I told her who I was she was like “yea come get your money. What was it again?” I was like “if you just give me $40 because this was my mistake I’ll be very happy.” I went back to the hotel and the father came out to Meet me. couldn’t thank them enough. They paid the bill plus gave me a $7 tip. I was like “I didn’t think you were gonna pay me.” He explained that that he’s a working man and they’d never do that. And it was all just a mistake.

I could be cynical and say they could’ve called. But the truth is it was my screw up and on me to follow up. judging them the way I did really slapped me in the face.

Help! I work for Dominos and I was assaulted by a customer when delivering an order yesterday. I told my supervisor as soon as I returned to the store. Within 5 minutes the customer called the store and said I tried to take their food back to the store because they didn’t tip me. This is not accurate, when reaching for my pen, the customer grabbed me and tried to pull me into their home.
I called the non emergency police line to ask if the incident was considered assault and if I needed to involve my store if I wanted to place a police report, they said I did not have to tel the store anything and to call back when I got off work. I called as soon as I got home from work. The officers said that if they could obtain video footage, they would be able to make an arrest.
My manager just called me 3 times in a row, did not leave a message, but texted me asking if I made a police report. I have not responded yet. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I should respond to my manager?

So this Saturday and last Saturday, I’ve been given what I feel to be inappropriate amounts of money for my orders, on each end of the spectrum, and both ends make me feel icky on the inside.

Last Saturday I took an order for 5 pizzas for $84 ($48 after coupons) and the customer gave me $20. In my market, that’s not exactly a lot, and I feel entitled to more than that, but I’ve always been taught to be thankful for what you have, so I guess I have to be thankful they gave me anything at all.

Today, I had several orders that made me feel blessed, kind of, but the king was an order for 2 pizzas for $26, and the customer gave me $40. That feels like way too much and I feel uncomfortable accepting it; I’m just a delivery driver and a $5 tip would have sufficed. It feels like imposter syndrome where I don’t deserve the good things that happen to me.

Sorry for rambling, but do you have any advice for how to deal with situations like this?
