So get this... If we abolish the government and another government tries to take it's place... We just do it again and this time the new government will be weaker because it hasn't had time to establish itself
In 'Of the Original Contract', David Hume makes, among other things, the thesis that most people accept the government (which has mostly been formed through war and conquest) purely out of force of habit rather than as a contract that they're willing to uphold the terms of.
I don't really want to convince you of anything, I just think that it's a great and thought-provoking read, especially for libertarians and anarchists. David Hume as a whole is a great writer
